Zariah felt his presence long before he arrived at the clearing where she stood, gazing out at the small lake stretching out before her.

The slightly distorted reflection of the moon on clear water had always been an enchanting sight to Zariah, yet at this moment, Zariah could not bring herself to appreciate it or the serene atmosphere she usually favoured.
