CHAPTER 4

JULIANA

" I said stay back or am I no longer to be obeyed" I was still staring at him as he yelled at the doctor.

" Not at all Alpha "

" Get a female nurse to stitch up her wound

" Right away Alpha" the doctor said and immediately left the room.

" What is your name my little mate " he turned his undivided attention towards me .

" Mate..?" I thought as the confusion was apparent in my eyes.

" Yes … we are mates. Fated together by the moon goddess and I must thank her for a wonderful choice… "

"How can we be mates if I don't feel the sparks my mother would talk about , the heavy feeling of love and adoration she raved about that happened once you set your eyes on your chosen one. Why didn't I feel nothing but a sense of calmness in his presence"… I reasoned with myself not wanting to voice anything out

"I understand your confusion and I am positive you have questions but for now do not fret and just recover , when you are well and able we would have a detailed discussion but for now let me introduce myself"

" My name is Knox Black , Alpha King and overseer of all werewolf business. You among others were rescued from the lab and I assure you no one both dead and living would dare take you again . Only a fool would be dumb enough to have the gall to touch the King's mate ." The evil glint in his eyes was all too noticeable.

The nurse at that moment entered the room ready to stitch back up my injury.

" Alpha " she greeted with her head bowed in reference.

" Be gentle with her… she's still shaken up so take your time " he commanded her with no more of a glance in her direction.

" To others I am their Alpha and leader but to you my little mate… I am nothing more than your partner and equal. You may call me by my name or any endearment you deem fit " There he goes smiling again.

" I am 24 years of age and was elected as the next Alpha King after my father late Alpha Herald was killed in a nasty rogue attack. My mother is quite alive although she has become a little demented after the death of her mate but I am positively sure she would love to meet you ". He kept talking attempting to take my mind aware from the nurse who's touch I could barely feel as she snitched me up and I must say , it worked .

  I wasn't aware of when she was done with the process , it was only when she bowed and left I noticed my injury was looking less angry and freshly stitched.

He kept looking at me as though I was a new creation; as though I was an oasis in a desert. His gaze told of a love I couldn't fathom even if I tried ; of a love that was deeper and stronger than the tides of a disturb ocean. A love that made my cheeks red and my eyes lower in shyness.

I watched as his eyes glazed over probably communicating with a pack member

" I must leave you now but why don't you close your eyes , rest your pretty head and allow your wounds heal".

It was then I realized I was quite sleepy and slowly but carefully lowered my self on the bed and he gently covered my with the blanket. I was skeptical to fall asleep fearing the doctor would come in or I would be taken .

"Don't worry about anything… I will watch over you until you fall asleep and would be the first thing you saw once you opened your pretty little eyes" he understood my fears.

I opened my mouth to say something.. anything but nothing came out and I quickly shut it back .

He looked at me in amusement and he hummed a familiar tune to lure me to sleep. It sounded just like the one my dear mother would sing to me to put my scared mind at ease. I finally succumbed to the claws of sleep and the terrible nightmares it came with .

As I drifted off I felt a warm pair of lips on my forehead and heard the promise of love and protection and in that moment I felt safe.

KNOX

I watched my little mate as she dozed noticing every little gesture she made. I observed the manner in which her eyelids twitched no doubt suffering a nightmare I could do little to help with . The manner in which she subconsciously gripped my hands that were stroking her face, tightly not wanting to let go .

I sighed as I watched her just imagining what she had been through but I was more than serious with my promise. I would protect her with my life and would love her with everything I had in me and with time everything and anything she experienced would be nothing but a distant memory. A memory that would shape her for the role that awaited her as Queen.

I didn't want to leave her but I had important things to attend to with one of them being with the doctor . He had communicated with me how he had found something in her bloodstream after a test had been conducted and I had to see him at once.

The urgency in his voice blocked out my anger at his command and him ruining my time with my quiet mate . A mate I just realized I didn't know her name .

I gently unhooked my hands and left her room taking one last glance at her troubled sleeping figure as I wondered what the doctor could have discovered.

" What do you mean by that?!!.. Run the test again"

" Alpha I ran the test twice to be certain of what I am saying!"

" Do you know what this means?!" I was scared of the answer

" No one and I mean no one must hear of this… You are sworn to an oath of secrecy!!.. Do you understand me?!" I bellowed at the scared doctor.
