Alpha Ash's POV

I put the phone down and grab onto Cici, I'm sure I would have turned is she hadn't put her hands on my chest. I feel my body shaking with pure anger as I think about what just happened.

"I'm sorry Ash" she whispers to me.

"It's not your fault my Luna, I understand more now about what's going on here. He's angry that you have Maya and the power that comes with her. Not only that but he's scared because you've found your mate which means Maya and Victor are together and as the legend goes that means we are unstoppable." I blurt out still shaking.

Darius's mouth drops open... "you have Maya and Victor as wolves??" He practically screeches. Cici looks confused as she looks from him to me.

"I don't understand, why are they so important?" She questions me looking into my eyes with her emerald eyes... looking right into my soul.

I sigh "I wasn't sure when the right time would be to tell you the stories, it was obvious you didn't know them when you didn't ask me about Victor when you found Maya." I calm down and take a seat and she straddles my lap, still staring deep into my eyes. "The legend goes that there are two wolves... king and queen of all others.... they're called Maya and Victor... they've been mates since the beginning. After every lifetime they let a few centuries pass before they become part of a new person and search for each other. They only come out sooner than that when there is a risk to the wolves on earth... a risk of them destroying themselves. It's their duty as king and queen to bring peace back to the world and live out their days together." I explain.

She looks at me "so we are bonded with the king and queen of wolves?!" She says in a quiet voice. The shock of what I'm telling her evident in her voice.

"That's why I was shocked when Victor told me you were my mate because I knew he was mated for eternity to Maya and I couldn't sense your wolf at all. That makes sense now though because of what your father tried to do." I clench my jaw and fists at the idea.

"So, when my wolf came to me early that was because you had received your wolf and you're 8 years older than me?" She asks, eyes full of wonder.

"Yes, when I received Victor, Maya must have awoken and unfortunately that meant your father saw who you were before your time could come to be strong enough to defend yourself....I'm sorry for that." I look down.

Her hand on my cheek makes me look back up, "it's not your fault, and anyway we are together now and I couldn't be happier!" I smile at her and give her a gentle, love filled kiss. "Anyway, why do you think they've come back, has he told you what the danger to the wolves is or has it just been a few centuries since they were last here?"

"No, he doesn't seem to know, all he knows is the Moon Goddess sends them back when they're needed. It's up to us to make sure we stay on top of everything with the wolves and if we sense a war that could end us all we must fight to save everyone." She nods, taking all of this so well like the strong mate she was.

Darius looks from me to Paul and back to me, "you knew you had Victor and you said nothing?" He's looking at me as if I had just killed his mate, "why wouldn't you tell me? You're own brother? I would have helped you find her... I just thought you were a powerful Alpha and that those were just stories for pups."

I look him in his eyes with an apologetic look, "I'm sorry my brother, Victor told me not to let anyone know until he had found Maya, not even family, because as soon as word got out we would be hunted and we aren't as strong apart. Without her I can be beaten with a strong enough force... and so could she." I explain hoping he won't hold this against me.

He still looks hurt, but he nods "if it was for your protection and for Cici's protection then I can live with it." He states, "after all my life revolves around making sure she is safe from now on so I can't be mad that you were doing that before I could." I nod and smile at him.

"Thank you, brother." I look to Paul, "do you understand too why I couldn't tell you even as my Beta?" I'm hopeful he will accept it too.

He looks at the floor then back at me "I do Alpha. I just wish I could have helped share the burden." I smile and with that we are all caught up on our duty to not only our pack but to the world of wolves.

"But before we have to fulfil those duties, we have a problem to deal with..." Cici looks back at me and smiles with a devilish grin.

"Killing my father" she sounds full of joy at the idea, and I chuckle and kiss her... the perfect Queen Luna and my perfect mate.
