I was unable to move. I was taken aback and almost despised myself for having loathed my father for so many years. But I didn't believe him until he returned with an old letter in his hands, which convinced me otherwise.

My father handed me the letter and told me, "I'll leave it here. You can read it." Read it on your own. I'm hoping you'll be able to trust me in the end. For the time being, I will be waiting for you in my office in case you have any additional questions. I understand that this comes as a surprise to you, and if I had known how much you despised me all those years ago, I would have told you the truth much sooner. Please accept my apologies for everything." He then kissed me on the forehead and exited my room.

When I picked up the letter, I opened it right away because it was addressed to my father. [I sincerely apologize for not being able to love your daughter. I couldn't fall in love with you either. I found my true mate, and I made the decision to flee with him. I'm sorry, but I can't afford to waste any more time with you and her. I need to have my own puppies from the one I truly adore in order to be happy. I'll be accompanying him to the airport tonight. Please accept my apologies.]

After reading her letter, I burst out laughing! What a heartless person she was. I was only a pup at the time! How could she have such strong feelings against me if she wasn't my biological mother? How could she betray the man who had elevated her to the position of a queen? I despised myself for feeling resentment toward my father because of an ungrateful woman like her.

I decided to make amends with my father and to follow his instructions from now on, but I needed more information. Why would he force me to mate with an alpha that I hadn't met previously? I believe he had a good reason for doing so.

As I shattered the letter into a million tiny pieces, I walked downstairs to see my beloved father and have a conversation with him.

He was waiting for me, just as I had expected.

I went into his office and knocked on the door. "father. "We need to sit down and talk."

"Sure," my father said as he backed his fingers to the door to let me in with a weak smile.

Once I had closed his office door, I approached him and asked him directly, without hesitation or wasting any more time: "First and foremost, I would like to express my sincere apologies. I had no idea how much you cared for me," I confessed.

He smiled, "it's okay. I cannot deny that knowing you despised me for years broke my heart, but I still love you."

I felt bad about myself for what I had done.

"Please accept my apologies once more. Please, I have a question for you that you must answer. I've heard that you want me to be mated to an alpha that I've never met before. Why? Getting married is something I want to do with the person I care about the most." I said in hushed tones.

"Can you tell me about the human you love?" my father inquired.

My head swung back and forth. I told him that "actually, I spread that rumor. I've never had an extramarital affair with anyone. I am still considered a virgin."

He exhaled a sigh of relief and jumped to his feet, exclaiming, "Really? Thank god."

Then he got close to me and explained his point: "The truth is, your mother was human, and therefore, according to our kingdom's rules, you are not allowed to rule by yourself. You're not a werewolf in the traditional sense. Even if you're descended from royal blood and my only daughter, you must be mated to a pure werewolf alpha in order to be considered complete. I attempted to change the rules, but all of the ministers were opposed to my efforts. In addition, as you are well aware, I am growing older and will, sooner rather than later, lose my ability and become weaker, at which point any other alpha may request to challenge me in a battle, in which case he would be king, and you and I would be from the commoners. As a result, I made the decision that I needed to find you a mate as soon as possible. He won't be able to take the crown away from you once you've become queen."

I almost let out a gasp of surprise. I had no idea it was such a serious situation. I was under the impression that my father had only decided that I should get married and have grandchildren. " Oh my God! I'm in shock! That's something I'd never considered."

"As you can see, we don't have a lot of time." My father sighed. " This should be completed prior to the start of the breeding season. So, what do you think you'll do? Please keep in mind that I will not be able to maintain the throne for more than two or three months. The fact that a very strong alpha named Jackson rules Fighter's pack and is preparing himself to engage in combat with me is particularly concerning."

I rose to my feet and declared, confidently and without hesitation, "I am not going to allow anyone to go into battle with you. I am not going to let anyone defeat you and usurp your throne. I can't wait to be mated to the best Alpha there is. You have given up so much over the years for my happiness and the well-being of the werewolves, and now it is my turn to give something back to you. I promise to be your devoted daughter from now on."

However, I was completely unaware that my father had lied when I said that. He was actually taking advantage of me for his own gain.
