1 Teaser Chapter

Prologue

In the year 2021 a society of werewolves rose in the seaside town of Newcastle, Ireland. These beings were not like the werewolves of lore. They could shift into the forms of large canines or humanoid beasts. However that heavily depended on their bloodline and their role within their respective Packs. Most of the werewolves you will meet here are Humans who have the abilities and blood of wolves. Greater senses, speed, strength, As they grow they gain different abilities including what form they wish to take upon shifting. In this town they live in, The Society is ruled by a Prime Lupus, He is the overseer of all the different Packs who carved out their own territories around Newcastle. His Step-son Michael, One of the Alphas of his own pack and who you will meet shortly, Is considered a Prince in this society, the one who will take over as Prime Lupus, Though he has his own aspirations and Fate will also have her say in what Michael becomes.

Chapter 1

"When our souls meet, the world becomes irrelevant."

It was his first day in Queens University, He was an English Literature student and a werewolf to top it off. Michael Conall was a tall man, around 6'1, He was 20 years old. His hope this year was to better learn how to write like his idols. Jane Austin, J K Rowling, J R R Tolkien, C S Lewis and Emily Bronte.

He was striding confidently through the university hallway to his last lecture class of the day. His best friend Jamie Boyle kept step with him. Michael chose his black silk button up shirt, it was open at the top few buttons, He had a pair of dark blue Jeans on with a black belt which held a small golden wolf head buckle, A pair of black leather boots laced up and tucked under the leg of is jeans that made his steps thud on the marble floor.

"No Jamie, I doubt Pamela would appreciate you fawning over our professor if she is female."

Michaels voice was deep, it was evident he was educated in elocution, Even with his Irish accent. There was a charm in his voice. Some would say bewitching. His skin was tan, And he was well built, his shirt was large and it was still a perfectly tight fit for him. Around his neck hung a simple black rope with a wolf tooth dangling on it.

He had a strong jaw, pink passionate lips, A straight grecian nose and an odd hue of hazel eyes. They were a leaf green, and tree brown, vibrant and unmistakably beautiful. His deep black hair was short in the sides and back but had a decent length at his fringe. He often would run his hand through and pull to the side. As he passed most people took a glance. Some more than one glance. One person went as far to take a picture. Michael just rolled his eyes hearing the murmurs.

Though, Jamie was also just as handsome. He was laughing at Michaels remark but then found a swift slap to the back of his messy blonde hair. He turned his head to Pamela, his girlfriend who stared at him with her brows raised.

Jamie scoffed "Okay. Point taken love."

His voice was also deep. Though he spoke with the same accent as Michael. They grew up together. He too had a strong jaw, Thin lips, a partisan nose, high cheekbones, His eyes were the brightest blue. He too was rather muscular but not as big as Michael. He was more of a swimmer.

When they had entered the classroom Michael looked around at the gray rows of chairs, each with a small laminated table at their right sides which folded in and out. The walls were a bland cream color. There was a long white board and projectors, large windows lined the far left of the room and they were open letting in the noise of the football team playing on the field outside.

"So what do you think our first question will be?" Jamie asked Pamela as they both took to their seats. Michael took his. He looked around the room some more.

Where do I begin? Firstly she was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. Radiant.

I leaned back in my ugly gray seat of the lecture room, around me a few other students. Jamie sat in front of me, Pamela beside him, Jules in the same row as those two but in the corner. None of them sat directly beside me and because of the aura I gave off no one else wanted to either. As I leaned back, my arm stretched across the backrests of the seats next to me. My head turned to watch her. She gracefully glided across the dark blue carpet and towards the far left steps. She was short, around 5 foot 5, the red heels adding 2 inches. My eyes narrowed slightly as they moved up her long smooth legs. Which were covered in a pair of half length jeans, Which did wonders for the curves of her hips, My head tilting to the side as my gaze trailed up over her slim waist, Up across her stomach, to the chest.

"A C-cup" I whispered to myself, I could see Jamie's head tilt a bit as I gave a slight smirk watching him look around to see who I was talking about.

She wore a simple claddagh necklace, Silver.

My head tilted the opposite way as my eyes trailed up her neck...

I spun around at the sudden bang of Jules' kicking the back of the seat in front of her. My eyes narrowed onto hers, hers narrowed onto mine,

"What?" I asked as she just gave me a disapproved look and went back to reading the English Lit pack.

I turned my head back around to see her sit near the wall at the far left. Her carrot with shades of a darker red loose curls fell down over her face.

"Her hair is like -" My words were cut off as the Professor walked in and threw his bag onto his desk. I could see Jamie's shoulders sag in disappointment at the male who entered the room.

Those windows of the lecture room left open were like the footfalls of fate anytime I looked at her.

The way her hair blew in the breeze was like a dancing flame. The more I looked at her the more I could feel the warm rays radiating from her. She was content and focused. Her face absorbed into the assignment in front of her. Her hair masked her face as she looked down at her note book. I should be focusing too but I can't. My eyes keep being drawn to her. I need to focus.

My hands found their courage and I followed the words of the question with my pen nib.

"What is your take on the word Love?" I stared at this question for a while.

Why is this the question of the day? My eyes peered over to that girl.

She seems really into this question.

I closed my eyes, but even then I could see her, I inhaled deeply. Despite her being across the other side of the room I could still smell her scent as if my face was buried in her neck. I let out a long exhale as the scent of blueberries, spearmint, a mixture of pear, grapefruit, and raspberry then a hint of, to my surprise, made the corners of my mouth turn upwards; marshmallows registered in my mind.

I began to separate the scents. Blueberries from the muffin she had this morning, spearmint from her brushing her teeth before she left, the rest had to be the fragrance she sprayed on herself today but there was another scent, hiding underneath, It was subtle, a spice, refusing to be registered in my mind.

Michael looked completely distracted, Jamie, smelling the hints of anxiety and curiosity like the spike of vinegar and smoldering wood, turned in his seat to look at his best friend. His hand tapped the table Michael sat at

"Are you okay?'' His question was sincere and worried. Pamela too was looking back at him wondering the same thing, Michaels eyes shot to Jamie as if he was woken up and dragged back to reality.

I am staring? I can't stop myself. Why? What is it about her? What is that scent? The sudden tap at my desk snapped me out of my trance, That painful snap back to reality as I glanced up at Jamie.

"Ye..Yeah I'm good." I lied, he would smell the lie but I knew he wouldn't question it. I watched as he nodded his nod that always said, I am here for you, I dropped my gaze down at the question in front of me.

"What is my take on the word love?" I began to write my answer

"It was once said, Love is just a word until someone comes along and gives it meaning." I looked up and then started the new line.

"To me, Love is as addictive as heroin, as healing as a hot spring, as destructive as a hurricane and as beautiful as a meadow in spring."

I placed my pen down and stared at my answer. My eyes flicked back at the girl across the room. Who is she? I watched as she lifted her head. Done with her own answer, I wondered what she wrote. I kept my head down but still glancing at her, she began to look around the class as the other students began to finish and lift their heads. Her head turned in my direction. That was when I saw them, her eyes. I slowly lifted my head, The second her eyes met mine I could see her face clearly.

I was like something unseen, unheard, hit me in the chest. Those eyes. Beautiful aquamarine eyes, framed with long dark lashes, a slight pink hue on her cheeks, the hue matched her beautiful lips. I could feel heat hit me everywhere. It was like sitting on a hill in the sun. The heat rose in my muscles faintly at first then began to spread like a blanket over my entire body.

What is this?

My confusion spread out around me mixed with my curiosity. I could hear the Professor talking, He was like background noise when he should be my focus. Instead her light breathing was the sound I wanted to listen to.

Her eyes. They seemed so familiar but I could not place where. I just stared at her, She stared at me, her gaze made me feel like a tree in winter, stripped and vulnerable.

Like she could see into my soul. I could feel the heat in my cheeks as I tried to pull my eyes from her. It was as if time had frozen all around us, and everything moved at a snail's pace. At least that is how it felt to me. Her hair like fire, danced in the same breeze and soft pink hues of the setting sun it had all class long, but her eyes were like the ocean, Her gaze caused my body to feel heat in waves, The kind of waves that would come up over the rocks, it was unrelenting, It was complete stillness between the crash of waves. With each hit the image of her being imprinted into my mind.

The illusion broke when our Professor, David Harrison spoke up and she turned her head away from me. I felt like cursing him. I could see Jamie and Pamela turning and looking at me. They were worried,

Damn, what scent was I giving off?

I could see Jules glaring at me from the corner of the room. I knew I was in for the great wolf inquisition when this lecture was over, then Prof. Harrison called it, "Alright everyone, I want two pages on classic love patterns from classic novels, see the list of accepted novels in your packs."

I stood to collect my books and stationary, Tossing them carelessly into my leather bag. My head spun around to try and catch one more glimpse, however she was gone. The trail of her scent led out of the room. Suddenly I felt cold. Like all my warmth had left me. I was conflicted, confused even, I suddenly felt a need to find out who she was.

"And suddenly my world ran cold. She is gone and I cannot feel the warmth of the sun. For she took it with her."

Those words rang in my mind, I needed to know who she was.

As soon as I had my things gathered I threw my bag over my left shoulder. My eyes flashed green as I changed my vision to see scent lines. I could see hers, a soft hue of pink, weaving in and around other hues that dulled and turned gray as I began to track. I pushed my way through the group of students in front of me

"Mike!" I could hear Jamie calling out behind me.

"Michael?" Jules and her dont ignore me, voice. I continued to push through the last of the students and made it out into the college hall.

"Damn, mine wasn't the only class that finished."

Mobs of students began to file out into the wide hallway, My eyes frantically began to search around for the pink scent trail. They shot between each line that was in front of me, the dulled gray beginning to regain their color as I cursed.

"Fuck."

The over saturation of different scent was masking my tracking. I spun around and marched off towards the yard. My fingers found their way through my hair in frustration. My head felt heavy as I just kept looking down. As I walked along the Hall I was suddenly stopped as several sets of shoes entered my field of view. Upon raising my head I could see the Pack staring at me. I just pushed through and continued to the Yard.

The Yard was in the back of the campus, hardly anyone wanted to hang out there because it was too far from the classes and dorms. It suited my needs perfectly. There was a lovely stone fountain, the water that sprayed out was floating a solid metal ball on it. In front of the fountain was a wide open area which was decorated with long tiles of stone. To the far left of the fountain was a set of curved metal bleachers. The lowering sun casts an orange glow across the yard. That was where I and my pack sat during our free time. Though this was where we also met at the end of the day. As I walked towards those seats I could hear that Missy and Killian were already there. Unwrapping, from the scent of pork, lettuce, tomato sandwiches. I could smell their scents on one another. Another mated couple.

Killian was always eating, out of everyone in this pack he had the greatest appetite. He was a very big man, He liked to workout a lot, He also ran for the college track team. Of course he had a clear advantage when explosive speed was considered.

Today he was wearing his navy track shorts and a black tank top that showed off just how thick his arms were. His legs are equally if not more impressive. His size contributed to how much he ate also. He always had short brown hair with just a bit of length in the front that he had flicked up with wax. He had a singular tattoo of a running wolf on his neck. Other than that he was un-pierced and unmarked. He was handsome, no sign of a beard, Like most males in the pack he had a strong jaw. His eyes were like Jamies, Blue but with tints of brown on the inside.

Killian was always smiling, more grinning after having played a prank on Missy. Who always got her revenge in the same manner.

"Would you like one?" He was holding one of his sandwiches out to Missy. His voice was soft, excited and almost youthful, Missy shook her head, her mouth full of her pasta that she indicated as the reason for her refusal. Killian just shrugged and took half of the triangular sandwich off. The pair had always been pranking one another even since they were young.

Missy, her real name was Michelle however she wanted to be called Missy, She was a short girl, long curls of black hair, she was dark skinned and rarely was found not looking almost perfect. Killian of course had seen every state of her. They lived together. her eyes were a dark brown, back in highschool her gaze was enough to make most of the boys swoon. Though Killian never swooned. I suppose that was what made her interested in him. She finished off the pasta she had placed in her mouth and her head turned to see Michael walking towards them

"Hey Mike." her voice was always so warm and welcoming. Killians head spun around and his smile widened, making the food in his mouth bulge in his cheeks as he gave one of his goofy waves.

"Who was she?" I was distracted, I knew Missy had greeted me, Killian probably just gave one of his waves. I inhaled deep, trying to retain the scent of that girl. Groaning, I tossed my bag at the metal bleachers, it hit the stack with a bang. I could smell damp, it was the shock in Missy and Killian as I just ran my fingers through my hair and headed into the small wooded area beside the seats.

"Is he okay?" I could hear Missy asking Pamela.

"I have no idea Missy, He was giving off a very strange scent in class." Pamela's worried response was followed by the nose stinging scent of Jules' jealousy like burnt bread.

"He was staring at some human girl."

I could feel something bubble inside of me.

Human.

"Just a human, How can a human have that sort of effect on me?" My head was racing. Thoughts flying through my mind at numbing speed. I quickened my pace into the woods. Out of sight of the others, My hand caught the rough bark of one of the trees, my fingers digging into it, I was staring down at the ground. My mind still raced, my breath heavy, It felt like an attack of some kind, images of her, her scent, her eyes, it all flashed before me as if I was reliving it all and I found it hard to breathe.

"Leaves. Twigs. Grass." I started to try and calm my mind.

"Birds chirping, Leaves rustling, Twigs snapping behind me."

Twigs snapping behind me?

I spun around to see Jamie standing a few feet from me.

"Man, You need to talk to me." His voice was laced with worry and confusion.

"It's nothing Jamie." I started to turn my head back down again.

"It does not look like nothing, Michael." My eyes glanced at him from their corners, I could see him nod in the direction of my hand.

As I looked up at the tree against my hand, my eyes widened with shock. The section of the trunk I was using as support was crushed. A large chunk of tree fell from my hand as I let my grip loose. I let out a staggered exhale.

"What happened in there?" Jamie's voice was calm. Clearly he had been taking some pointers from Pamela.

"I'm not sure." I let out a deflated sigh

"There was a girl. She.. had an effect on me." I tried to explain but I couldn't find the words. How do you tell someone that a single person shattered your reality in a glance?

"An effect?" I could hear Jamie trying to understand.

"Jamie, How did you feel when you first became mated to Pamela?" I peered up into his face. He looked slightly shocked. Then I could see the cogs moving in his head

"It is hard to explain." His reply made me chuckle.

"Yeah." I pressed my back against the tree and watched my best friend.

"At first she was just there. Like she had always been, Then the beast in me woke up. Yet she was still just there."

Jamie placed his hand on the back of his neck, his sleeve rode across his bicep and revealed his tattoo of a side view of a wolf's head.

"When she started to awaken everything changed. The first day I looked at her after her wolf woke it was like... Earth shattering. Time, Space, Everything that tied me to reality shifted. I know it was the same for her also. That is the best way I can explain it Mike."

Jamie let out a sigh as if he had failed at explaining being Mated.

"That was what happened, in there." I said with a nod towards the campus. Jamie's head snapped up and he stared at me

"With the girl? That human girl with ginger hair?" I nodded.

My eyes looked past Jamie to Jules who was sitting beside Missy, she was drinking a can of cola, her free hand looking at her smartphone.

"You can't tell them. Pamela? Sure, The rest, no. Not until I have figured out what it means."

As I spoke I could feel the pulse of force come out of me. It enveloped Jamie and Jamie nodded

"Okay, How are you planning to figure this out?"

"I'm not sure yet. I need to pick up her scent again, find her and talk to her."

Then I pushed myself up off the tree and closed the gap between me and him. I placed my hand on his shoulder and looked into his bright blue eyes.

"I'm just as confused about all this as you are." Then I walked off.

I could hear him sigh and follow.

Moments after Michael had disappeared into the woods followed by Jamie. Pamela stood in front of Missy and Killian.

"So our fearless leader had some sort of situation?"

Killian had finished his sandwiches and moved onto a bag of cheese puffs. His head was now on Missy's lap, his back on the long metal bench-like bleachers, his sneakers flat on the metal and his knees pointed at the sky.

"It was like nothing I had seen before. He was transfixed. The scent coming off him was just like confusion, fear, elation, curois--"

she was cut off by Killian

"Elation? Like arousal?"

He popped a puff in his mouth just as Missy slapped him on the forehead and he shot off her lap and spat the puff out that he almost choked on.

"Hey!" He looked back at her. Though her innocent face made him melt and back down he went onto her lap.

"No. It wasn't arousal. It was different. He was stunned." Pamela continued. Killian pretended to understand and started to nod as he tossed a couple more puffs into his mouth.

"Maybe he has found his mate?" Missy commented and upon the words leaving her mouth a low growl could be heard coming from beside her. Jules was giving off the sharp nose stinging scent of envy again.  All eyes were on her. Even Killian who craned his head backwards and looked at her upside down pressing his head into Missys lap.

"Well someone is jealous." he baited.

"What have I to be jealous of? A Human?" Jules snapped with a scoff of venom, which made Killians grin grow as he flattened his head out and threw a couple more puffs into his mouth, his work here accomplished.

Pamela rolled her amber eyes and leaned over her dark brown wavy hair falling around her head and placed her hand nimbly on Jules' shoulder

"Whatever that was in there. Michael will figure it out. He was not giving off any scents of interest. Just curiosity. There is nothing to be so worked up about." Jules then shrugged the hand from her shoulder.

"I am not worried. Not over her." Jules' green eyes peered over into the direction of where Michael had disappeared. Her brows furrowed and she then went back to looking at her phone.

Killian continued to pop puffs into his mouth, Missy was running her fingers through his hair. Pamela stood with her hand on her waist looking impatient when the pair emerged from the woods and Jules sat glaring at Michael as he emerged from the trees.

"Great, They are going to be expecting an explanation." I could hear Jamie chuckling at this comment as my eyes scanned the four that were sitting in their usual places. Except Killian, he tended to just make himself comfortable where-ever he was. I looked down at my black boots as I crunched through the leaves and twigs, until the sound shifted to smooth stone taps.

I lifted my head to a very worried Pamela, I smiled at her and the worry seemed to vanish from her face. Her eyes then moved behind me.

Jamie was probably giving a look of

"I'll tell you later."

Michael looked around at everyone and then up at the orange-pink sky from the sun falling behind the horizon.

"Okay, Let's head home everyone." His words were sure and as soon as he finished the pack began to gather their things and moved as a unit in the same direction. Out of the campus.

look forward to the release of the whole novel.
