I Killed Her

Jasper's POV

Yesterday was a hell lot of events, until date, I haven't seen my ancestry staff and as lenient as it seems, it is a hell lot of an issue than it sounds. Something kept me thinking, it's been five years since my dad handed over his position as the Alpha to me. 

I haven't ever thought of ever going to where I kept my ancestry staff to check if it was still there because I believed no one has the audacity to adjust it from its position. Then again, there's always guards around my room twenty-four sevens. All of a sudden, Anna reminded me of the staff and I thought of checking where I kept it, to my surprise it wasn't there.

It got me so confused, no one knows where it is, even Anna, she doesn't even know that there's a secret locker in my room or so I thought. 

I've been in my office thinking of a hundred ways to find the staff without making everyone aware of this fact, but it seems almost impossible. I stood up from my swivel chair and wandered over to the floor-to-ceiling window to gaze over my Pack, which I have struggled to make better over the past years.

As a boy, I vowed to protect the staff with my life because it is indeed the life of every Alpha. Without it, I am not supposed to be called an Alpha, it is a symbol of authority, not only for me but for my Pack…

"Ahhhh…" The sudden stroke of pain on my right ear lobe gave me a rush of adrenaline.

"What was that?" With a racing heart, I walked back to my swivel chair and sat down immediately.

Resting my head on the head rest, I tried to think of what might have prompted the sudden pain. Suddenly, I began to feel pains all over my body as though invisible sharp canines were being used all over my body. " What the hell is going on?" I said to myself while standing to my feet.

"Mate!" My wolf growled within, and it dawned on me that Charlotte was in a hell lot of trouble. " Fuck!"

I rushed out of my office and then to my private elevator, for some reason I felt this need to be as close as I could to her. What the hell is going on? Did she get herself into a fight again?

Moreover, I felt as though the elevator was slower today. What the hell? Finally, the elevator stopped and opened to the basement, and I rushed to my private parking lot. Pressing my car remote as fast as possible, I dragged my car door open and entered into my car, then drove off.

Reaching in my mansion, I saw Anna's car driving out of the compound. I didn't bother myself with where she's going, I just parked my car and rushed into my house, and then I noticed that something happened in my absence. "Grace, what happened here!" I exclaimed why, taking long strides to the kitchen.

"My Alpha, you're here…" 

"Will you fucking start telling me what exactly happened here! Where the hell is Charlotte, don't waste my time!'' I growled impatiently with widened eyes, she's irritating me with her attitude.

"Charlotte got into a fight with Anna, we don't really know what happened, perhaps Anna had a wolf bane on her claws that made Charlotte lose consciousness all of a sudden…" I didn't let her finish her long story before walking out of the kitchen.

Rushing out and into my car, I drove directly to the Pack hospital. What did Anna do to Charlotte? I hope nothing bad happens to her. If it's really a wolf bane, will she survive it? If anything happens to Charlotte, I'll make sure Anna pays for it. 

Five minutes later, I reached the hospital and walked in immediately without wasting any time answering the greetings from my people, it can wait. "Where's the patient who was brought in now?" I asked one of the nurses who couldn't talk nor look directly at my face, and I don't give a fuck about that. 

"She's in the theater, my Alpha." She stuttered with trembling fingers.

"Where the hell is the Godforsaken theater?" I asked with a growl that the poor soul almost lost her breath, but then I ran out of patience, any minute from now my wolf will take control.

She began to run towards a path I think that leads to the theater, reaching a particular door she stopped and pointed at the door. " This is the theater." She bowed while keeping a good distance from me.

I pushed the door open and walked in, only to see the doctor and some nurses using a defibrillator on Charlotte and her chest rising and down. "Charge to 360!" Luke the Pack doctor shouted.

I felt my heart being twisted, and I found myself losing breath, what was happening? Am I about to lose my mate? I ran towards them and held her hand. " Charlotte!" I called out, as I didn't even know what to say to begin with.

They pressed the defibrillator on her chest again, and it rose and fell once more, and her neck turned on its accord to me with closed eyes. Then I heard this really ear-piercing sound that made me turn with a racing heart to its source, only to see the cardioversion machine with the lines all straight.

"What the hell!" I screamed on top of my voice and held the doctor by his neck.

"We tried to save her, but we couldn't, an ordinary wolf can't survive a wolf's bane, and you know that, my Alpha." He tried to defend himself, but I wasn't having it his way.

" I don't care! I don't care what you have to do, but she must live!" I shouted while looking into his eyes with my hands tightening his neck the more.

"But she's already gone…" I punched him hard on his jaw.

"She's not…" Before I could finish the sentence, I felt a really sharp pain in my heart that made me leave the doctor and run to my mate.

I felt the pain again, sharper than ever," ahhhh." I growled as tears rolled down my cheeks.

" I can't be going through this." I muttered to myself as tears kept rolling on its accord down my cheeks. 

"I killed her."
