Chapter 8

I woke up snuggled against something warm, soft and hard? I don't remember pillows being hard. And then I felt something heavy draped on my waist. An arm. It was the arm of a male. I tried moving my hand, but failed. That resulted in whoever I was next to, to pull me even closer. I tried to move the arm off of me again, but the person pulled me closer.

I groaned as last night's events rushed back to me. He just had to pull me in his bed. Even though he was ignoring me and glaring at me since he met me. Bipolar much.

I sighed as I tried once again, but to no avail.

I tried squirming out of his grip, which resulted in him groaning and mumbling, "Stop moving."

"Well, if you'd let me go," I said exasperated.

But he just pulled me closer and said,"Not happening."

"We've to get up for school," I whined as I tried pushing against his chest, "And if someone saw us, they'd assume the worst."

"Let them. I don't care," He mumbled against my hair.

"You're the worst."I mumbled.

"Sure am."

"Hey Colton, did you see Eve anywhere? I've been looking ever- Oh my god! What the hell?" Kayla stood by the open door mortified, with her hand on her mouth and eyes wide. "What did you guys do?"

Colton finally moved as I pushed him off of me and sat up on the bed crossing my legs. Yawning, I ran a hand through my hair.

"Well?" Kayla asked again, raising a brow with her hands on her hips.

"Nothing happened." I deadpanned rolling my eyes at her.

"Doesn't look like nothing." She said narrowing her eyes.

"Nothing happened Kayla, drop it." Colton said in a monotone voice. He was laying on his back with his left hand thrown over his eyes to block out the light, which was switched on by Kayla.

"But-"

"Oh my devil, you're such a drama queen. Does it look like anything happened? I've got my clothes on, he does as well; minus his shirt . Nothing happened, we just slept. Side by side. That's all." I said slowly, exasperated.

"Fine, whatever." She mumbled, " Are you gonna get up anytime soon? Mom's been calling for you Colton."

"Yeah I'm coming," He sighed as he got up, running a hand through his already disheveled hair. I admired him from my place on the bed. My God, he had such toned abs.

"Like what you see," He smirked lazily as he caught me staring.

"In your dreams," I scoffed rolling my eyes as I got up from the bed stretching and yawning.

"I'm gonna need to borrow your clothes again Kayla," I said crossing my arms against my chest,"Obviously."

"Yeah I know," She sighed, " Finding you something to wear from my closet is a big task."

I turned and looked at the clock on the bedside table which read, 7:10 a.m.

"You have plenty of time. School starts at 8 and it's 7:10 now. And you're already ready, so it won't take much time." I said as I looked her over. She was wearing blue faded jeans and a maroon sweatshirt with converse.

"Okay then,"

"Get me blue ripped skinny jeans, a crop top and a leather jacket. I'll wear my shoes from last night and I'll go shower till then, okay?" She nodded as I instructed her and left the room. I went to follow her since I didn't want a repeat of last night, but I was pulled back by you know who.

"What?" I sighed as he pulled me against him.

"Nothing,"He replied, burying his head in my neck.

I felt tingles everywhere he touched me. It felt like heaven, being in his arms; like I finally belonged. Maybe that's why I slept so soundly last night. Maybe Suzan's right. Maybe I am his mate. The first time we met, he was rude. Then he started ignoring me. Is it because I'm not like him? Because I'm human? Only one way to find out.

"Colton?" I asked as I played with his hair.

"Yes?" He asked, his head still buried in my neck.

"Can I ask you something?" I asked hesitantly, re-considering my question since I know he'll get mad.

"Mhmm," He mumbled looking up, he probably felt my hesitation, "What is it?"

I looked into his eyes, as he did mine.

"I uh-" I cleared my throat before continuing, "Why were you so rude and ignoring me since you met me?"

His face hardened at my question and he stepped back letting me go. He sighed closing his eyes and ran his hands through his hair.

I observed him, waiting for my answer.

Seeing my gaze on him, he said, "It's really complicated."

"I'm sure I can understand." I said crossing my arms against my chest.

"I'm sure you will, but it's hard." He sighed.

"Try me." I said softly, "We don't even know each other but it feels like we're supposed to be together. Tell me I'm not the only one feeling all this."

"You're not," He swallowed not meeting my eyes.

"Colton, look at me in the eye and tell me the truth we both know. Or tell me that I'm wrong. Tell what I'm feeling is wrong." I said throwing my hands up in exasperation.

"What you're feeling is not wrong," He said looking at me, "I feel the same, because we're mate-"

"Hey Eve, I found what you asked me to. And they might actually fit you." Kayla interrupted as she came in.

I sighed just as Colton snapped at her," You're a bitch, you know that?"

"What did I do now?" She said as looked at us."Oh, did I interrupt something?"

"You did plenty," He snapped again, growling at her.

"It's okay Colton, we can have this conversation later." I told him softly as I gently touched his arm.

"Keep the clothes here Kayla," I told her pointing towards the bed.

"Okay," She mumbled as kept the clothes on the bed and hurried out mumbling another sorry and closing the door behind her.

"I can shower in your bathroom, right?" I asked smiling cheekily, our earlier conversation forgotten.

"I won't mind," He smirked lazily, looking me over.

"Of course you don't." I rolled my eyes playfully as I took the clothes off the bed and went towards the attached bathroom pushing aside the chuckling bipolar idiot.

~~~~~~
All heads snapped to me as I not-so-gently or gracefully, entered the classroom. Fifteen minutes late, might I add.
"So thoughtful of you to bless us with your presence miss Griffith," The teacher said sarcastically with a tight lipped smile.
I just gave him a full blown grin, which I've been told has stolen many hearts.
At the gesture, he muttered something under his breath before he begrudgingly told me to take a seat. Everyone in the class gasped not-so-subtly, shocked that Mr. Augustus had let me off so easily. He's know for his reputation for handing out detentions. Nobody is spared from his wrath. Except, today he spared me. Which is why everyone is shocked and openly staring at me, mouths agape.
I took a seat in the left row, right in front of Suzan, who has been avoiding me for some unknown reason.
"But don't make this a regular thing miss Griffith," Mr. Augustus grumbled from his place up front, "I won't go so easy on you next time."
"Sure thing Mr. A." I said giving him a big playful grin.
I softly chuckled to myself as he sighed and turned towards the board, starting his lesson for the day.
I took out my book from my bag and started taking down the notes.
Everybody in this class including Mr. Augustus knew that he'll let me off anytime. All I had to do was give him my heart clenching smile and he'll melt. After all, I melted the heart of a certain emerald eyed-cold hearted boy, who also happened to be seated just two seats across from me, in the matter of just one night.
~~~~~~~

"What do you mean you're not sure?" I hissed at the person on the phone,"You either saw him or you didn't."

"I r-really d-don't know miss," He stuttered from across the line,"It looked like it was your brother but-"

"Are you freaking playing with me Kevin?" I snarled, "Call me back when you've got correct information for me. If not, then go dig yourself a grave because you know I ain't having no mercy."

"Y-Yes miss." He stuttered before hanging up.

I let out a frustrated scream. The urge to fling my phone across the wall was really high right now. So I pocketed it before I actually threw it.

I sighed irritated as I answered the phone once again, "Well? Did you find out?"

"Yes, miss." He replied, his voice wavering.

"And?" And I hissed out, impatient.

"It was him," He replied, "Not just him though, they were all there. I'd sent one of my men to go check, and he saw them. They're here. And they are coming for you. There is no escaping this time."
