Chapter 5

"You're going to the mall with me today."

"I am?" I asked Suzan, who was standing next to my locker with her hands on her hips. I think she was trying to be intimidating, but obviously, she's not. She is as intimidating as a little bunny.

"Yes!" She huffed,"Homecoming is in two weeks! And we don't even have dresses yet. We have to go. Today. No more delay." She said giving me the I'm-gonna-strangle-you-if-you-refuse-so-don't-even-think-about-it stare.

"What makes you think I don't already have a dress?" I said, giving her an annoying smile.

"Well, do you?"She asked raising a brow.

"I don't know. I mean, I usually have a lot of dresses in my closet. Actually, I have all kinds of clothes in my closet, considering my mum is the one who stocks it. So I probably should have one, at least. But, since I came here without my mum and so she's not the one who stocked it, Arabelle did and I didn't bring a lot of clothes with me so.. maybe I should have 3? I don't know, maybe. But-"

"Yes," she interrupted me, rolling her eyes, "I keep forgetting you are the daughter of a famous billionaire and a fashion designer. But you don't look or behave that way."

I smiled sheepishly, "Yeah I know. I get that a lot."

From the corner of my eye, I could see the everyone in the hallway staring at us. Probably because of how loud Suzan was talking.

"What are you all staring at?" I snapped and everyone went back to doing whatever they were doing.

"So do you or do you not have a dress?" She asked again. Still very loud.

"Can you talk slowly? Everyone is staring at us." I told her giving her a look.

"So?" She said, raising an eyebrow, "Shouldn't you be used to all the attention anyway?"

"Oh my god." I groaned, running a hand down my face, "No! I am not used to it because I usually avoid it!"

"Well, answer my question!" She sighed, "Do you have a dress or not."

"Ughh," I groaned again, " No I don't have a dress! So I guess we can go to the mall and I'll help you pick one. And I'll get one for myself as well. I'll ask Joseph to drop us off at the mall straight from school so we'll have plenty of time to shop. Okay?"

"Okay." She nodded her head in agreement.

"I have a doubt though?" She said as we started walking to our next class, "Why do you have a driver? Can you not drive?"

"Well, firstly, it's because he was told to drive me around and secondly, yes, I cannot drive." I answered.

"Why?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Because I never learned to?" I answered sheepishly.

"Well, We still have two hours of school. How about, instead of going to class, I can teach a little bit of driving?" She said stopping in her tracks.

"No." I said in a voice that had no room for arguments, "Let's go to class."

"B-but why?!" She stomped her feet like a little kid and whined.

"Suzan, you're not a child. So stop behaving like one." I said, giving her a mean look, "Now let's go to class."

Grabbing her hand, I dragged her to the next class which was right around the corner.

~~~~~~~~
"So you and Colton, huh?" Suzan asked as she took out took two dresses from the rack,"which one?"
"I don't know what you're talking about." I said scoffing, "And none. They're both ugly and hideous."
"Alright." She said putting the dresses back in the rack," And don't lie to me. I've seen those sneaky glances you give each other in lunch and the rest of the classes for the past three days. I'm in all your classes and so is he. So I've noticed."
I just rolled my eyes at her as I picked out another dress and looked at it."Ew. This is gross as well."
"Hey, answer me." She said, her hands on her hips and her eyes glaring daggers at me.
"There's nothing going on between us." I said rolling my eyes once again as I crossed my arms across my chest.
"Please," she said rolling her eyes, "You obviously have an effect on him. I mean, I don't think I've seen him come to school this regularly ever. And he's been attending all his classes as well. So, tell me. What's going on?"
"I swear there's nothing."I told her as I looked through the dresses. Nothing here is good. Ugh.
"Well something clearly happened."
"Monday I had to go back inside the school as I had forgotten something, and I ran into him. I fell and he was rude." I told her, turning towards her.
"Well.....that's how he usually is." She dragged her words.
" Yeah well, he needs an attitude adjustment ."I retorted looking at her.
"Yeah.." She nodded, "True that."
"Also," I said as i dragged her out the store to go into another one." He pushed me twice, with full intention over the last two days." I said as I dropped beside the changing room inside the store." And now he's been ignoring me since yesterday. And I glare at him every change I get."
"Well that's Colton. But for him to give you even that much attention is weird. Maybe you're his mate? Considering he takes his time to think about you." She said as she peeked her head from around the racks.
"I don't know. Maybe, but who cares. But every time we touched there was this strange sensation." I explained to her.
"Yup, you're his mate alright." She said nodding her head as she came forward with a few dresses in her hands.
"How do you know that for sure?" I asked as I declined every dress she presented.
"Because I've felt that before." She sighed as she sat next to me, obviously disappointed we came up empty handed. "We've been at this for hours."
"What do you mean you've felt it before?" I asked her as I took her hand and dragged her out of the store." Let's go to my place. I'm sure I must have something."
"I'm mates with a werewolf too. He found out I was his mate three years ago. His name is Kian. He's in Colton's pack. He's the head warriors' son." She sighed in a daze, obviously thinking about her mater."And are you sure? I mean, do you really have 'em at you place?"
"In my closet, I guess yes."I said nodding as we left the mall and went towards the car."And how come I've never met him before?"
"He's actually away for training. He left two years ago. He'll be back in a few days." She replied as we got in the backseat of my car.
"You didn't get anything miss?" Joseph asked as he started the car and started driving away from the parking lot and towards my house.
"No. Nothing was good enough." I replied as I sat back resting my head against the head rest.
"Okay miss. Straight home then."
"Yes Joseph." I sighed, "So you're saying I'm Colton's mate?"
Suzan hummed in response.
"Then why is he being so rude to me?" I asked as we pulled into the driveway of Arabelle's house.
"I don't know." She replied getting out of the car after me,"I'm really sorry."
" I don't know why you're apologizing" I said pulling her along with me inside the house," Arabelle, my friend is here"
She came out of the kitchen and when she saw Suzan, recognition dawned upon her face,"Suzan? "
"Hi, miss Nightingale." She waved at her.
"You two know each other?" I asked looking back and forth between the two.
"It's a small town Corinna," Arabelle said," Besides, I'm friends with her grandmother so we have met quite a lot and I had a lot of dinners with her family. Since I don't have any children or grandchildren of my own, I consider her my granddaughter as well. Just like you." Arabelle said, giving Suzan a loving smile.
"Yeah," Suzan nodded smiling too, "Besides, I'm her god- granddaughter."
"Is that even a thing?" I chuckled.
"Yes there is." She nodded with a serious face.
"Okay." I chuckled again.
"Why don't you join as for dinner Suzie?" Arabelle told her, "I made pasta."
"Sure."
"Come on let's go eat." I said grabbing her arm and dragging her along with me towards the kitchen.
"Hold up," She said stopping to check her phone which had just pinged with a message.
"What?"
"I'm sorry, but I can't join you guys tonight. My mom wants me home immediately. Something came up." She said looking at us apologetically.
"No fret babe." I said patting her shoulder.
"Yes, darling. It's quite alright. Maybe next time. I'll ask Joseph to drop you off." Arabelle said as she hugged her."Tell your mother I said Hi."
"Will do." She muttered as she waved one last time as she left.
"She's a good girl. Keep her around Corinna." Arabelle said as she watched her leave and guided me towards the kitchen.
"Yea, she's cool. But there is one thing," I said taking a seat at the chair next to the counter just as Gloria served dinner.
"What is it?" Arabelle asked with furrowed brows as she took a seat across from me.
"I'm not complaining or anything, but she always hangs around me. In the three weeks that I've been here, she's stuck to me like glue. Doesn't she have any other friends? I thought of asking but I didn't because I didn't wanna be rude." I said taking a bite of the delicious pasta on my plate.
She hummed as she replied, "Oh she does have friends. I've met all of her friends. She introduced me to them a while back. Since the amount of human families in this town our less, like only 5 or 6, including myself, we tend to stick together. So in a party that was hosted by the Principal of your school, also Suzie's father, she introduced me to them."
"Oh," I replied, "I didn't know she was the principal's daughter. She never told me. I wonder why she doesn't hang with her friends anymore."
"I wonder too." She said as she finished her meal."From what I know, She and her friends were real close."
"Should I ask her?" I asked as I got up taking my plate as well as Arabelle's and keeping it in the sink.
"You should." She replied getting up from her seat."But be a little polite."
"Sure thing." I replied taking finishing up my glass of water as I got up to leave."I'm gonna go now, okay. I'm tired and I'd like to sleep."
"Sure darling," She replied,"It's already 10 anyway. I'm gonna go to bed as well."
"Great." I replied as I turned to leave but stopped in my tracks as Arabelle stopped me.
"Your mother called today."
"Really?" I asked, turning towards her, "What did she say?"
"Well, she's still worried about you. Since you were in an accident."She continued, "She was saying she'll take the next flight and come because she she doesn't want to stay away anymore. But I told her no. I told her she has to wait."
"Thanks Arabelle. I know she must miss me. They both must. And I miss them too. But it's not time yet." I sighed deeply.
"I know sweetheart, I know. I've convinced your mother to not come. But please, I don't know what's going on here or what you are doing, but please, please be careful." She said sighing.
"Yeah I will," I nodded, "Goodnight."
Then I left the kitchen and went to my room to take the much needed rest.
~~~~~~~

"I can't believe you. You find out you're mates with a werewolf and you don't tell me?" My best friend huffed from across the screen as I face timed her.

I chuckled," I was just really busy. You know how it is. And besides, I just found out today."

"I know, "She sighed, "How long will you keep avoiding them babe?"

"As long as it takes." I sighed running a hand over my face.

"Is that who I think it is?!?!" A voice shrieked from the other side of the phone. A hand pushed Josie's face aside and a guy's face came into view, which was first happy and then he was glaring at me.

"You!" He pointed at my face from across the screen."How dare you leave without saying goodbye?!"

"Hi Rayan.."I waved with my other hand smiling cheekily.

"Move asshole!" Josie pushed him aside as she took her phone back in her hand." I swear to God! He becomes more of an airhead every passing day. Even more after you left."

I just chuckled in response,"Obviously. I mean, you guys need me to survive."

"Yeah, we do. Which is why you need to come back." Rayan said coming back to the screen, pushing Josie's head aside.

"Hey!" I said glaring at him,"Stop harassing my best friend."

He just pouted in response.

Rolling my eyes at him I said,"Okay, I've to go now. It's already 11:30 p.m and I'm really sleepy. So I'll talk to you later, K?"

"Okay." Josie said as she waved one last time before hanging up. I shut my phone and put in on the bedside table switching off the lights and pulling the covers over me.

Before I fell asleep, I swear I saw a pair of glowing emerald eyes staring at me through the darkness of my room.
