Chapter 31

"How many?"

"354, sir."

"How are we going to bury that many?"

"I-I don't know, sir."

I sighed, slumping beside the door as I listened in on the conversation outside.

354 innocent lives lost. And for what? Nothing. We lost a quarter of the pack. There was no specific age group. Children, teenagers, adults. Everyone.

354 dead. Because of me.

After the scene outside, there was a lot of commotion in the pack. People having lost a lot of their friends and family. They were scared. Scared they could be next. Colton's dad, the alpha, had to calm them down with much difficulty. Took about an hour to talk to them and send them home, assuring them they were safe. But even we didn't know if that was true.

After sending everyone home, we all came back upstairs to the meeting hall, having a lot to discuss. Everyone was in shock, still are. Colton especially, losing a lot of his pack. And I, well, I don't know what to feel. Scared, angry, lost? I don't know anymore.
