Chapter 56

"So, I kind of was walking down the hallway and, against my will, I overheard voices." Kendrick said in a very blunt tone and Kraig narrowed his eyes at his friend and sat on the chair, looking straight at him. 

"And…?"

"Well, they were saying that an Alpha must have a wife. And no better wife than the daughter of another Alpha."

"And how that is about me, Kendrick?" Kraig was getting impatient.

"Ah, sure. Quote, 'Kraig is about to be the Alpha soon and he needs an heir'. And some more on how we are in the verge of a war, bla bla bla, you could die and the pack must not stay without an heir, or it will be seen as unprotected."

Kraig held back his breath. All Kendrick said were not lies. But Kraig already had a mate. She had not rejected him once and for all. And he was going to wait for her!

"I ain't marrying." Kraig said, shaking his head. "No way. I refuse."
