Stone Moon pack...

Sylvia paced back and forth in the throne room as she waited for the elders to return. She had sent a few elders to visit some packs as emissaries to see if anyone was willing to help with the plague.

It had been days now. The wait was killing her. Just in three days, the death rate had increased. But, she couldn't do anything but wait for the elders to return.

Hopefully, they would return with good news...

At that moment, the large doors opened and the elders came in.

Thank goodness...

"How was it?" Sylvia questioned as her gaze darted from each person to another.

"We asked other packs for help. No one had a solution for it. But they all said the Peak Ocean pack has the cure." They reported.

The Peak Ocean Pack?

Oh, moon goddess...

"Are you sure?" She didn't want to ask that cold Alpha for help.

But she had no choice, did she?

For the sake of her pack, she was willing to do anything. Including asking a well-known ruthless Alpha for help.

=============

"Alpha Nolan, the Alpha of the Stone Moon Pack is here to see you." Luther, the alpha's beta informed Nolan. Nolan glared at him from his throne.

"I'm not in the mood to see anybody. Not even the Alpha of any godforsaken pack." Nolan spat.

What right did anyone have to see him at a whim? Did the Stone Moon Pack think the grudge of twenty years was going to be forsaken just because the people involved were dead?

He sneered in contempt.

Luther shook his head in pity and went out of the throne room.

Standing outside patiently was Sylvia. Though annoyed, she maintained a calm expression. How could they make her, an Alpha, wait in this manner?

She was here for a reason though. She couldn't complain.

Luther came out at that moment and Sylvia stood up straight.

"I regret to announce this. But the Alpha can't attend to you at the moment." As he spoke, Luther scrutinized the lady standing in front of him.

Wasn't she too young to be the Alpha of a whole pack?

Sylvia could understand the look in his eyes. He was looking down at her.

"And why is that?" Sylvia was getting irritated.

Was she a joke to them? She came down from her pack just to meet his alpha and was being given this kind of treatment.

Who did Alpha Nolan think he was?

"I'm afraid I don't know the reason," Luther said coldly.

If it weren't for the sake of courtesy, he couldn't be bothered to speak to this young woman. She looked so young...

Did she even have what it takes to lead a pack?

"Okay then. I guess I will wait here till he attends to me. You have no objections, right?" Sylvia walked over to a chair and sat down.

She wasn't leaving here without the cure to the plague. If the Alpha wanted to play, she would entertain him.

"Alright. Suit yourself." Luther left the room.

He knew she was adamant about staying back. And he couldn't be bothered to convince her otherwise.

Sylvia nodded and turned to look around. The pack was bigger. Bigger than her pack.

That jerk...

She waited for hours before Luther came back into the room.

"You may see the Alpha now."

Sylvia glared at him. She wanted to break his bones and crush him. And it was evident in the cold expression on her face.

She didn't want to fight because lives were at stake. She had heard that the Peak Ocean Pack had not been affected at all during the plague invasion. Until she got what she wanted, she couldn't afford to erupt.

With a low growl, she followed him into the throne room.

Alpha Nolan was sitting lazily on his throne. He watched as Luther led a young lady into the room.

He did a double take as he looked at the young woman. She was taller than average. But, she still wasn't as tall as an average man. She also did not have a bulky figure and looked slender.

Nolan's gaze narrowed.

Was she the Alpha? Wasn't she way too young to be one?

He knew what had befallen the Stone Moon pack. Now, he couldn't help but think that the death rate was due to their Alpha.

He hadn't seen her personally. But he had once heard that Williams had a daughter who was a hybrid.

With a young Alpha like this, how could the pack possibly remain strong?

"You sure are rude, Alpha Nolan." He heard her say.

Nolan raised a brow. Wasn't she afraid of speaking to him in that manner?

"Well, that's by the way. I already sent an envoy to you. And, you know why I am here. So, I don't quite understand why I was delayed outside instead of us going straight to the point."

"I need the cure for the plague killing the members of my pack," Sylvia said calmly as she stared at him.

Nolan was dumbfounded for a while. Then his expression turned into that of amusement.

"A cure? What a joke. On what basis do I have to help you? And how are you sure I have the cure?" He scoffed. He had to admit she had a touch of feistiness to her.

One he would like to tame...

"Cut the crap, Alpha Nolan. I know you have the cure. You were the one who said in your letter that I was to come in person to discuss the terms. Yet, you are acting clueless now."

Sylvia was anxious and annoyed.

But she needed to tread softly. Being known for his ruthlessness, he could decide to turn down her request.

And sure enough.

"Why should I? What do I stand to gain?" Nolan asked coldly.

"Anything." She was getting anxious. She didn't know the number of people that had died in the period she was at his pack. But, people were dying. She needed the cure as fast as possible.

"What? I don't get-"

"I will do anything you say. Just help me." Sylvia begged.

"Anything, right? Are you sure about that?" Nolan asked in a hardened tone.

"Yes... I will do anything." She nodded anxiously.

Nolan stared at the lady in front of him. How interesting would it be...

If he got her to do his bidding?

She was one of them...

Even if not entirely, she was the daughter of one of them.

He smirked as several thoughts crossed his mind. It wasn't every day you get to make another alpha bow to yourself.

"I hope you don't regret your words." He stared long and hard at her.

"As long as you don't go back on your words, then I wouldn't either." Sylvia nodded with vigor.

What option did she have?

The fate of the entire pack lay in her hands. How could she make a decision that would affect the members of her pack?

Regret?

As long as he didn't ask her to kill the members of her pack. Then she wasn't afraid of doing anything at all... What regrets could she possibly have?

None at all... She was sure of it.

"Okay, Alpha Sylvia. I will help you. You better don't renege on your words. You can't even if you want to." He retorted cockily.

He was willing to call her Alpha. Even if she wasn't that old and didn't seem to have what it takes, at least she had wits. And, she cared about the lives of her people.

That deserved respect.

At least as an alpha to a fellow alpha.

"As long as you help me, Alpha Nolan." Sylvia was relieved.

At last... Her pack could finally be rescued...

The future could sort itself out.

When the time came for her to fulfill her end of the bargain, she would...
