1 Chapter 1

We were the werewolves, living far away from the city near the woods. And I’m Alyne while my dad is the Beta of the Silver Moon pack, situated at the north border by the arctic ocean of the North American Continent. We are a happy family of four, consisting of my dad - Mr. Roger, my mom – Christine, the beta female, my elder brother – Chris, the future beta and me their youngest and lovely daughter Alyne. We, unlike other werewolf families, don’t have to live in the pack house and these are the perks of belonging to the Beta family. Our pack had separate houses for the Alpha, the Beta, and the Delta families, a bit far from the pack house which was cool. Because not living with the whole pack made it easier for me to live my isolated life, with not many people in it.

Yet again coming back to me, I was soon going to turn 21, which was by the end of this month. And I ought to find my mate – soulmate by this birthday because every werewolf finds his or her mate by the age of 21 no matter what, and if they fail to find one, they are not only considered unlucky but also cursed by the moon goddess for their bad deeds. And that was not true always but people and their assumptions. So, it was very important for me to find a mate on my birthday. Even though it was very important for me to find a mate, I was not very much interested in it, because I had dreams, the dream of being a psychologist, who would help everyone in need. And having a mate may hamper my dreams and I didn’t want that.

But it's not like I can help it, so I was going to wait and watch what the moon goddess had decided for me, because destiny was not in my hands. Meanwhile, I could only enjoy my life with family, my two best friends Brianna and Peter, and yes, of course, stay away from my arch nemesis Asher, the future Alpha, and my brother’s best friend.

Now that we are done with the basic details about my life, let’s dive into my life. Like I said earlier my birthday was coming soon and that made my friends very excited because they wanted to know who my mate was, more than me. And yes both Brianna and Peter had found their mates, Brianna’s mate was Alex the pack warrior and Peter’s mate was Kate, whom peter had met at the college camp. So, it was only me who is single now and at times I felt like the third wheel when all five of us hung out together because if together, they hardly keep their hands off each other.

Well, today was the last of our exams for the current semester and we all were very happy, that finally, we all could hang out without worrying about studying. So the plan was to go to the pack mall watch a movie, dine out and go back home simple. As the exams were done and it went well, we were now on our way to the mall, where Alex and Kate would meet us. Brianna, Peter and I were using my car because theirs would be used by their mates. The weather outside was cool, with bright sunlight but also cold winds passing by. I loved this kind of weather. The ride to the mall was fun, as we were loudly singing the lyrics to our favorite K-pop band and that can never be boring. Soon we reached our destination and found Alex and Kate waiting for us at the entrance of the theatre. Having not much time left before the movie started, we quickly bought some coke and popcorns and went inside to enjoy the movie and our much-awaited relaxation.

We all enjoyed the movie, it was a hell of a comedy movie and we were tired of laughing our lungs out. And now we had to decide, where were we to go for dinner. It was 5 pm now and we still had a few hours before our curfew would end, so I suggested that we go to the sushi restaurant at the city outskirts, and everyone accepted except Alex because he said ‘it was too dangerous at that side of the city. This sushi has always been my favorite because they serve the most tastiest salmon sushi in the world. Literally, no kidding. And Alex was skeptical about going to this place because the Alpha and the would-be Alpha, the irritating Asher had strictly asked us to not go near the city outskirts late at night because of the looming dangers outside, away from the pack. But I wanted to go there and the best way to make Alex agree was to give him puppy faces and Brianna did exactly that. And voila, Alex agreed but said that we should leave by 7 pm and I was okay with that. I never thought making Alex agree would be so easy but I guess that is what mates are for, they just can make you do anything, anytime. And soon we left for the restaurant, me in my car and Peter and Brianna with their mates in their respective vehicles.
