Secrets

*Wes' POV*

What an arrogant fool. Jason was stupid enough to not think, if I can create a shapeshifting potion, could I not also make one to, oh I don't know... read minds?

I shake my head and unlock the door to my small cabin. I live in the grounds behind the Alpha's castle. I grew a beautiful maze leading to my cabin, one that made it impossible to navigate if you had bad intentions.

I enter the cabin and lock the door. As I turn I man materializes in front of me.

"Ah, good. Avery, how is my daughter?" I ask worriedly.

"She's doing very well. The Moon Goddess has blessed her with a child." Avery Bishop says calmly. Tears begin forming in my eyes.

"I have never even laid eyes on my dear Haley, and she's blessed with a child of her own." I turn away from him and walk to the table. "We can not let Klein get his hands on her. After he attacked the Red Fang Pack, they relocated. I found them but kept my distance because if my daughter and I had gotten too close her powers would have awaken then."

Avery nods, "Yes, the Moon Goddess told me the only way to keep Haley safe was for you to be here."

"Yes, because she needed to awaken her powers on her own, when she needed them. Otherwise he would have found her sooner and she wouldn't have had anyone to protect her then and she wouldn't have been in control of her magic." I walk closer to the window and peer out to the castle.

"As long as I've been here I have kept a barrier around their territory to keep her hidden from him. But the stronger she grows the weaker the barrier gets. Soon they will find her because of her strength."

Avery walks closer to me and I turn towards him.

"The Moon Goddess has not told me why she hasn't allowed you to kill Jason Klein." I look at Avery closely.

"I've wanted to kill Klein for so many years. You have no idea. You have found your mate. You can only imagine what it would be like to have her ripped from you. To watch her pretend to be happy with that monster. As he beat her every time he got too drunk. How she would stay quiet so her children wouldn't wake up. To be forbidden to go to her. To hold her." Avery's eyes become misty and he looks away.

"I'm sorry I shouldn't hav-" I interuppt him quickly.

"No. You shouldn't have. I was given an order I couldn't diobey. Whether I wanted to or not. The Moon Goddess has a plan. You do not get to question it. But I will help my daughter avenge her mother." I turn from him and begin walking to my bedroom. "I'm going to bed. You can sleep on the couch or go poof to your girl's dorm or whatever." I close the door behind me and collapes onto my bed.

I cover my face with a pillow and begin sobbing. Amora. My mate. I had found her for such a short time. We were so happy, she was healthy and her wounds and scars had healed. We wanted to start a family and we had planned on leaving as soon has we had the money. Unfortunately for us, Samuel found us before we could go. He hid himself well. We had been tending our garden when he attacked me. He slashed my throat and began biting into me. I had gripped my throat tightly and began whispering a spell frantically. I began to pass out as he let me go because Amora had began ripping his hair out and punching him. He grabbed her and I watched him stab a needle into her neck. My eyesight became blurry and dark. I tried to get up but couldn't even move. Amora tried calling my name but only a whisper came out as she passed out. Samuel saw me moving and kicked me in the head. The Moon Goddess had sent Avery Bishop to me to tend my wounds. When I awoke 3 weeks later, the Moon Goddess spoke to me. I was not allowed to go to my mate. She said my daughter was safer. If I interfered, Samuel would kill her immediately. I had to watch from a distance as my child grew up. I watched her believe Samuel was her father. I watched her disappointment everytime he would ignore her, and act as if she didn't exist.

What happened when Haley was 15 was something I will always blame myself for. I left. I was heart broken, watching my mate in misery. I left for a week and during that time Jason Klein found the Red Fang Pack. I wasn't there to make sure he couldn't or to try to stop him. I felt a part of me die as he killed Amora. The Moon Goddess showed me when I asked what happened to her. My daughter barely escaped without being found. If she had any of her powers he would've smelled her. But hybrids cannot be found unless they have no control over their power or choose to show themselves. I slowly stop crying and roll onto my side. The Moon Goddess had promised me I would see my mate again one day soon. I slowly begin to doze off picturing Amora's sweet face and hazel eyes, wondering just what the Moon Goddess meant.
