Betrayal

*Beta Adam's POV*

No. No she can't be dead. My daughter. Her pale figure had been standing in front of the Alpha and his... mate. I glare at the Luna's house for a moment longer before deciding what needs to be done.

*Haley's POV*

I wake up with Xavier's arm around my waist and snuggle against his warmth. I feel him tighten his grip as he hides his face in against my neck.

"Good morning, beautiful." he says sleepily.

"Good morning, baby." I say smiling. "So I know we just...mated for the first time," I say with a blush creeping up my face, "but last night before I fell asleep... My wolf told me I'm pregnant." I avert my gaze, worrying he'll be upset. I mean yes we've been sharing a bed the last few months but we'd never done more than make out. I glance back up to see a huge smile on his face.

"I'm gonna be a dad!" he grins. He pulls me close to him and kisses me gently.

"I love you my beautiful mate." He slides down to face my belly and rests his hand on it.

"Your mommy and I both love you so much, little wolf. I can't wait to meet you." He cuddles into me for a long tine before looking up at me.

"We have a lot to do today, baby. I have some meetings to attend and you should go see Rebecca." I realize our little bundle of joy can't be kept a secret for long, and get nervous with the thought of telling everyone.

When we finally leave the house we go separate ways in the pack house. I go up to Rebecca's room and knock. I hear a loud thump and a giggle before the door opens and I see Rebecca's face burning bright red. She has her bed sheet pulled up around her and her hair is in a mess around her head.

"Oh, hey Haley!" she squeaks. "What's up?

"I am so sorry, I'll just come back later!" she quickly smiles and closes the door. I can't help but grin at my friends happiness.

I decide to find my way to Xavier's office and once I find it I softly knock.

"Come in." I hear him say. I open the door and walk in. After a moment he looks up and I see his brow furrowed from stress.

"Oh, baby, have you seen Beta Adam? He hasn't reported in and I can't mindlink him. Dean isn't sure where he's gone." Dean looks to me with concern written across his face.

"He always has dinner with me, but last night he never came. He's just gone." he tries to steady the trembling of his voice. "My father was very... angry with the Luna's punishment of my sister. I tried to get him to see reason, but he just shut me out more and more." I look at Xavier's eyes as they become cloudy and dark.

"Dean, do you think your father would betray this pack?" Xavier says with a low growl.

"With all due respect, Alpha. I believe he would betray the Luna." Xavier growls and I watch as his face begins shifting into his wolf's. He grabs the edge of his desk as if holding on for dear life, and forces his wolf down.

"Dean, I am hereby granting you the title of Beta. Increase the amount of warriors around the territory perimeter. I'm trusting you to be the saving grace for whats left of your family name." With that Dean bows his head in thanks as the power of the Beta envelops him. The entire pack feels the shift of power through the mindlink and Beta Dean leaves to begin his task.

Xavier pulls me close to him and sits me in his lap facing him.

"Please, my love. Stay in our territory. Don't wonder too close to the border, I beg you." his eyes begin to glisten, and I lean forward and kiss him.

"Xavier I'm safe. I will not allow that scum of a pack to hurt me or our family. When it comes down to it, I'm going to be there fighting with you. Whether you want me to or not." I caress his cheek and kiss him deeply.

After a long time I leave him to go get something to eat. I find my way to the kitchen, and begin making a turkey sandwich. As I'm slicing the tomatoes and lettuce, Rebecca and Avery come in giggling and holding onto each other. I smile at the amount of love radiating from them.

"Hey, you lovebirds." I say.

"Hey, best friend!" Rebecca smiles and gives me a hug. "I'm sorry about this morning," she says blushing, "what was going on?"

I smile sheepishly, and glance up at her while taking a huge bite of my sandwich. She narrows her eyes at me and sticks out her tongue.

"Come on, Haleyyy." she whines. "I said sorry, please tell me, pretty please?"

I swallow and begin giggling nervously.

"Well, um. Xavier and I are... expecting." her eyes widen and she throws her arms around me.

"Oh my gosh! I'm so excited!" she squeals.

"Congratulations!" Avery says smiling.

We begin chatting about baby names and clothes. Before long it gets dark outside, and we decide it's time to go to bed. I say goodbye to my friends and leave to meet Xavier at his office. When I reach his office, he's already locking up.

"Hey baby." he says as he puts his arm around me. "Did you have a good day?"

"Yes, I did." I smile up at him and we head to my house.
