Our New Home

After taking a well need break from driving and finishing our food we leave a tip on the table for our waitress and head for the door. I guess I was still in a daze because the next thing I know I ran into something hard as a wall. I mumble an 'excuse me' and rush out the door not looking at who or what I bumped into. I get in the passenger seat this time while mom gets is the driver's seat. Mom said she will finish out the drive and hands me the book that she was reading. I take a look at it and open the front cover. I am surprised to read the inscription that is on the inside cover of the book.

"My dear daughter, you are the light to my night, and you will forever be a part of me. I love you and your mom more than word can express. I hope in time you will be able to forgive me. Please keep your heart pure and follow your instinct, it will keep you safe. I love you my little wolf. Love Dad"

Well, that's not at all what I had expected to be there. I now my dad loves me, there is no question in my mind or my heart. I just wish I could see him. He left when I was 5 but has always been in touch with me and mom. My mom has zero hate for what my dad did, so neither can I. Not to mention we never lack for anything, I mean nothing. My dad even set me up a trust fund and sends money to me and mom every month. I love that my dad does that because even if he isn't with us, he still takes care of us. My mom doesn't cry anymore and tells me that she still loves my dad and will never stop and that one day they will be together again when it's time.

I decide to read the book my dad left for me for the rest of the drive to the new house. 2 hours later and 15 chapters into the books and I am in love with the werewolf world. Only if it was real. Can you imagine having someone completely made just for you. Having that one that would never hurt you and never leave you like my dad left my mom. Not sure about the 'pack' life but hey who's know. I guess the fantasy about all of that is just alluring to me. To have someone that was so perfect in every way, its honestly a dream come true.

A we pull into our new home I look around and smile. We are surrounded by woods since we are the last house, it's beautiful. The house was not huge, but it was immaculate to say the least. The yard is well maintained, fresh paint on the outside and the flowers were my mom's favorite. Pansy's. All different colors and sizes. My mom loved flowers of all colors but these were favorite. Mom takes the key from her purse and unlocks the door, stepping into the house was an amazing feeling, it is fulling furnished, complete with dishes. It all seemed to fit my mother's taste almost as if everything had been planned to please her.

After exploring the house some we head back out to the suv and start to unload it with the stuff we packed. As I am unloading from the back I have this feeling of eyes watching me. I turn around to see nothing but woods. I shrugged my shoulders and focus back on unloading the suv. While settling down for the night, I decide ton read more of book my mom found.

'We as werewolves shift for the first time at the age of 17 and met their wolf. A wolf's very first shift can be very painful and long, this gets easier of time with the more shifts they go though.'

This book reads more 'manual' for living as a werewolf rather than a book about them. The way it is worded is very precise and some of the things that it contains is very unexpected. But I am very intrigued by it. I just have not figured out why my father left it for me. As I continue to read I slowly start to drift off to sleep and into a pleasant dream.

Wolves.

Run!

Snarling teeth.

Run!

Ruthless Growls.

Run!

Snaping Teeth.

Run!

Thunderous Booms.

Run!

I woke the next morning after having very little sleep sine I was tossing and turning so much. I dream was so weird. It felt like all I did was run. I ran all night long and my legs were even sore like I actually had run all night long. I it up in my bed and stretch my arms up, swing my legs over the edge of my bed and walk to the shower. I pull down my peppermint shampoo, peppermint always wakes me up and gees me going first thing in the morning, I pour the shampoo in my hands and start to lather my waist length hair. My hair is curly, so it is fairly simple to wash, drying on the other hand is crazy because it is super thick. I finish up my shower with a floral scented body wash that leaves my skin feeling like silk.

What to wear, today will be my first day of school here so I want to be comfortable but look nice even though I will most likely spend most of the day reading, I'd rather have my nose in a book verses listening to the typical high school gossip. I am a senior so I know that I will get a little attention today, which is okay but I want to limit it as much as I can.

I walk into the kitchen and see my mom drinking her coffee while reading her files for her new assignment. "Good Morning Hunny." She says as she slides a plate of bacon over to me. I step over to her and give her a kiss on the cheek and pull a glass from the cabinet and get water from the water dispenser in the refrigerator door. Sitting down at the bar in front of my plate of bacon I let out a sigh. "Morning Mom" I finally respond to my mom. "Are you excited for today?" she asks know I really rather not be going to school today.

"Not really mom. I go, do what I can to not be noticed, but I am the bookworm mom. No one understand me. I love to read and most girls my age are about the boys. Boys, mom I have no interest right now. When the right one shows up he will accept me for who I am. So I don't have any interest right now. So it will be the same old routine. I'd better go so I can get my schedule and locker. Love you, I'll see you this evening when you get home." I got up, grabbed my bag and headed to the school.
