PROLOGUE: The Rodriguez Clan

THE Rodriguez Clan is one of the most Rich and Influential Clan in Italy. Their Clan consist of 4 rankings. Clan Head, Clan Mother, Main Branch, and Branch.

In the Main Branch, there are two families. Rey Rodriguez, the eldest, and Richard Rodriguez the youngest. Both of them are the only biological children of the Clan Head and Clan Mother.

Leonardo Rodriguez, the current Clan Head and the father of Rey and Richard. Rosalina Rodriguez, the Clan Mother and the mother of Rey and Richard.

Rey Rodriguez is the supposed heir of the clan head position as he is the eldest son. But he refused. Rey is very devoted and consistent of being an Engineer.

The Clan Head, Leonardo, gave him a choice.

"Stay in your profession and lose the title of heir or you leave that profession and inherit the clan head position." said Leonardo.

Rey have to choose between those 2 choices. Leonardo was confident that Rey would choose the second option. Anyone would want that position, so Leonardo was very confident that he would choose the second option.

But Leonardo was dumbfounded when Rey refused and choose the first option.

"I choose to stay in my profession, father. I don't want the position." Rey replied nonchalantly.

Leonardo was so outraged that he wanted to banished him from the clan.

Rosalina, a loving but strict mother, quickly coaxed her husband to leave Rey be. Leonardo being a simp that he was, happily agreed and moved on like nothing happened.

"Very well. You can stay in your profession. But know this, I'm stripping you from your title of being an heir. Are you sure you want that?" said Leonardo with a smirk on his face.

"I don't care about the position father. All I want is to be a normal engineer. You can give that position to Richy. I'm sure he'll accept that." replied Rey looking at Leonardo boredly.

Leonardo sighed and said, "Fine. Just make sure you not to make trouble."

Leonardo walked away followed by Rosalina who smiled at his eldest son.

When Leonardo and Rosalina is now out of sight, Rey quickly got his phone and called Richard. A few seconds later, Richard pick up the call.

"What? You know how busy I am Rey. What the hell are you calling for?" Richard said with a cold voice.

"Aawwee is my wittle bwother angry?" Rey replied, mimicking a baby, making Richard annoyed.

"Just get on with already. I have a lot more important things to do than this nonsense." Richard said, annoyed and ready to end the call.

"Okay okay, geez, you're so serious it's so cute. Anyway, Father just talked to me about the heir position." Rey said.

"And? What does that have to do with me? You're the heir, so I don't care about it." Richard replied seriously.

"That's the point. I'm no longer the heir. I rejected the position. You know me richy, I don't like that kind of responsibility. Too much hassle. Though I did told father to give it to you. I'm sure he'll call you later about that." Rey said.

"Seriously? You dump your mess to me? You know how busy I am. I don't need another hassle dumped on me. And also, stop with that ridiculous nickname. It's stupid." and annoyed Richard replied.

"Yeah will I already told father. And your nickname is cute though hahahaha." Rey said, further annoying Richard.

Richard annoyedly groaned and said, "Whatever, I'm going to reject that position anyway. You also know how I hate that position. It brings too much trouble."

"What? But if you reject that offer, Who else would accept it? It couldn't be from someone in the branch or distant. It should be one of us." Rey worriedly replied.

Rey already rejected the position, and Richard is planning on rejecting the position. So who else is going to inherent the position? Both biological children of the Clan Head and Clan Mother doesn't want the position. It couldn't be from outside the Main Branch, as it is not allowed. Only from the Main branch, legitimate line, can have that position.

Realizing this, Rey and Richard became worried. They couldn't let someone have that position from outside the Main Branch, or someone from an illegitimate line.

After thinking about it, Richard suddenly said, "I'll talk to you later. i have something to do. Call me when you have news."

Before Rey could reply, the call was ended.

Rey dazedly stared at the phone for a few minutes. He suddenly realized another thing. He doesn't have any legitimate son. All his legitimate children are all girls. He do have a son. 2 to be exact. But those boys came from his second wife, an illegitimate line.

So there is only 1 possible person who can inherit the position, Nikolai.

Nikolai is the eldest and only son of Richard. He's a first year college student studying Bachelor of Science in Criminology. Nikolai is a very outstanding young man. He's very active in any school activities. He's also the current treasurer of the SSG (Supreme Student Government).

Nikolai is very well-known as a responsible and kind young man. He's very humble and doesn't flaunt his riches to his peers.

With that personality and characteristic, he's can be a perfect candidate for the position of heir. But there is a lot of things that everyone doesn't know about Nikolai, including his family.

Nikolai, although very confident in the eyes of the public, he's very different in what he actually showed.

When Nikolai was a child, something happened.

On 18th January 2017, Nikolai was kidnapped and almost got raped by his very own teacher. He was brought to a place where the teacher lived. He got locked up in the basement for 4 days, with little food and water being given to him.

In that 4 days, he was harassed. His teacher moved him to his bedroom, where he started to tie Nikolai's hands against the head board, And started to remove his clothes one by one.

Fortunately, before the teacher can go on any further, the police arrived.

The whole clan, especially Richard and Stephany (Nikolai's biological mother), was frantic when they hear from their driver that Nikolai is not in school. They got worried and called the police. That's when they confirmed that Nikolai was kidnapped.

On that very day, a supposed happy day for the birthday boy, became dark and twisted.

Ever since then, Nikolai started to change. He started to wear a 'mark'. Hiding what he truly feel ,and what he's truly thinking. He started to create a persona. A persona that is very different from the bubbly and happy Nikolai that everyone know.

After several years passed, Nikolai started having mental issues.

He would talk by himself as if talking to someone, as if his imitating someone. Someone who doesn't exist. He's imagination got out of hand.

Nikolai's mother, Stephany became very worried and concerned. So she told Richard, Clan Head, and the Clan Mother.

They decided to call a professional psychologist.

The Psychologist who's named Cleo Cano, is a friend of Richard. Cleo is a 37 years old male that Richard met on one of his trips to Hawaii and became very good friends.

Cleo confirmed that Nikolai developed a Maladaptive dreaming. A type of mental disorder where the person started to talk and create a character that they imitate. It's like an imagination got out of hand.
