39 Chapter 39

While the girls were scaring the daylights out of Mr. Weyland, from their casual way of speaking about being able to destroy countries, Sebastian's watch began to beep again, alerting everyone, that the pyramid was about to shift once again.

Both Lex and Sebastian turned around to stare at the round door separating them from the hunter, the girls instead, began to look around for any other changes.

Mr. Weyland just waited to see what would happen, a few seconds passed by, and then, a passageway opened up on the other side of the room, everyone heard the stone shift as it opened, which made the group immediately turn around to see it.

Lex walked over to the new passageway and then nodded at everyone "Let's go find our new friend" the group nodded back, then walked into the passageway to see where it would lead them.

~Meanwhile~

The hunter that was sneaked was attacked by one of the arachnid-like creatures. was up and about, he quickly put on his helmet and got ready to get a move on.

After reconnecting his helmet and checking that everything was working fine, he quickly left the room and walked into the new passageway that had opened a few seconds ago.

~Back with the group~

Everyone had been walking down the dark and wide passageway in silence for a while now, Lex lead the way with her flashlight, while Sebastian followed by her side.

Morgan, Hope, and Thalia follow them from behind, while Mr. Weyland walked behind them, suddenly, as everyone was walking, Lex decided to start a conversation "How do you say 'scare shitless' in Italian?".

Sebastian smiled and then said a long stream of words in Italian, the girls, who could understand any language thanks to their supernatural nature, laughed at the whole thing.

While Sebastian just continued to smile and said "More or less".

Lex grinned at him, thankful for the bit of humor, but then everyone heard something shift in the passageway, everyone looked around and noticed they had walked into some kind of crossroads.

But the sound began to get closer and louder, the girls extended their senses and frowned when they began to sense multiple creatures around and stalking them in the darkness.

This put them on full alert, while the human adults looked around everywhere, Lex pointed her flashlight at the end of a passageway and saw the tail of one of those serpent creatures coiling itself from the ceiling.

A serpent suddenly hissed at Sebastian and Lex by their side, scaring them and making them jump back, but Morgan quickly moved over the serpent and kicked it away, the creature screeched as it was sent flying and away from the group.

Sebastian grabbed Lex and then yelled at everyone "Come on! Run!".

The trio of human adults took off running down a passageway, the girls quickly ran after them, not wanting to let them get to far away from them.

Eventually, the adults made it to a new chamber, with what seemed a destroyed bridge in the middle, but it had been completely destroyed by time leaving only a big chasm, the adults quickly stopped running and stared at the chasm in a panic.

The girls saw that the adults stopped and then noticed why, Morgan then yelled "Grab an adult and jump!".

Thalia and Hope nodded, each one grabbed one of the adults and then jumped over the chasm with ease, the girls landed on the other side and quickly let the adults down.

Just in time too, because the moment the girls let the adult humans down, another one of those serpents, attacked them, Morgan easily slapped it away in mid-air, while Thalia summoned her spear and threw it toward the creature, her spear flew through the air and then stabbed the serpent through the chest and electrocuted it to death.

The creature hissed and flailed around for a few seconds, it even tried to stab Morgan with its tail, but Hope stomped on it, but eventually, it slumped and stayed still.

Thalia walked over to the creature and then pulled her spear out of the serpent's body, while Hope destroyed its body with cosmic fire, to avoid any surprises, Thalia frowned as her spear steamed from the acidic blood of the creature "Hm... that stuff seems very strong, a regular human would be in serious trouble if it gets on their skin".

Morgan nodded and vanished the acid blood from Thalia's spear "Is your spear okay?".

Thalia nodded and grinned at Morgan "Of course it is Mog! Pops made this spear for me! It's even more powerful than the one Zeus gave me!".

Hope walked over to the girls "Oh yeah, I heard about that from Uncle Sirius, apparently, Daddy shaved Susanoo's head for materials! Ama-Chan laughed about that for days".

The adults, who were recovering from their scare jump, shakily stood up and walked over to the girls, though Sebastian was very interested in the names the girls just dropped "Susanoo? Zeus?...".

Mr. Weyland huffed and looked around for any more of those creatures, before speaking to Sebastian "Aren't those deities?".

Sebastian nodded "Yeah, Zeus is from Greek Mythology, while Susanoo is from Japanese Mythology, but the girls are speaking like they personally know them...".

Lex sighed and looked around as well, she saw some entrances at the end of this room, but then turned her head towards Sebastian "Then who's Ama-Chan?".

Sebastian shook his head "I don't know, I don't recognize that name, but given the honorific, it must be a nickname".

Hope turned around towards the adults and smiled "Hey! Are you guys okay?".

The adults nodded and gave her a thumbs up, they chose not to ask about the girls dropping the names of some well-known deities and decided to ignore it from now.

Morgan then walked over to the adults "We should get moving, those things can move silently in the darkness, so stay close and do not walk into any dark spot by yourself".

The adults nodded and then everyone continued walking, however, this time, the adults were far more alert about their surroundings.

After choosing a passageway and walking down through it, they found themselves in a long and dark hall, at the end of the hall was a small chamber and everyone cautiously approached it to see if there was any other passageway.

When they reached the small chamber, they noticed that it was empty, sighing they all turned to look at each other to talk about what to do next, the girls suddenly tense up and turned around.

The adults follow their lead and gasped when they saw the hunter standing there and watching them, Morgan grinned and walked over to the hunter, who tense up and took out his spear.

Morgan stopped in front of the hunter and smiled at him "You're pretty good at stealth, but we could smell you the moment you got close".

The hunter made some clicking and growling sounds, Morgan listened and then nodded "Yeah, we know the human took your guns, honestly? We weren't aware they took something from you guys, but we weren't going to let you guys kill them.

It's your fault and that of this pyramid, that they ended up here, a really mean thing to do, you know?"

The hunter made some more clicking sounds, and Morgan nodded "Sure! We don't have to fight~ I'm more worried about those black serpent creatures! So how about we work together? We'll give you your gun back and you help us".

The hunter relaxed and stared at Morgan, after a few seconds he finally nodded, which made Morgan grin "Alright! Now give me a second".

The hunter nodded, Morgan turned around to speak with Lex, but then the hunter was attacked by a serpent, the creature pushed the hunter against a wall.

But the hunter grabbed hold of its body and easily threw him away from him, the adults stepped away from the hunter and serpent, while the creature quickly got up from the ground and got ready to attack the hunter.

But Morgan caught it by the tail and pulled the serpent towards her, the creature hissed as it was pulled back, only to be punched by Morgan, she hit it so hard that the serpent's head flew off its body, splattering Morgan with its blood.

The adult and even the hunter watched in shock as Morgan frowned and wiped the acidic blood off her face with her hand "Ew... gross".

Lex worried for Morgan called out to her "Morgan? Are you okay? Doesn't it hurt?".

Morgan turned her head towards Lex and shook her head "Hm? Um no, not really, this sort of thing can't affect my dragon scales, so I'm okay".

Mr. Weyland then piped in "Your skin is smoking from the acid Morgan".

Morgan noticed the smoke coming from her clothes and skin "Huh? Well, isn't that neat?" having said that, Morgan suddenly let her energy explode off her body.

Her crimson-red draconic energy, destroyed the acidic blood on her skin and clothes in a second, with that done, the little Stark then let her energy dissipate and calm down "There we go!".

Lex, Sebastian, and Mr. Weyland were now gaping at what they just saw, and if the hunter didn't have his helmet on, then everyone would see he was gaping too.

But Morgan either didn't care or noticed, since she walked over to the adults and spoke to them "Okay! Can you guys give me the weapon, I'm going to give it back to the hunter now".

Lex didn't waste any time and immediately brought out her backpack and took out the weapon from inside, she then handed it back to Morgan who took it and then walked over to the hunter.

The hunter just stared at her walk over to him, once Morgan got in front of him, she handed over the weapon, the hunter grabbed it and then mounted it onto his shoulder.

The weapon then moved around and began to point a red-like laser point toward Morgan's forehead, the little Stark just smiled at the hunter.

Though the adults got very worried for Morgan, they didn't want to see her attacked, but their worries turned to be wasted, as the weapon powered down and the hunter nodded at Morgan.

Morgan smiled at the hunter and even gave him a thumbs up, the hunter tilted his head and then mimicked Morgan's gesture, which made her brightly smile at him.

Suddenly, multiple screeches and hisses began to echo down the hallway, the hunter immediately turned around and used his weapon to shoot down the serpents who were all running towards them on the ceiling and walls.

Morgan, Hope, and Thalia stepped over to the hunter's side and pointed their open palms toward the serpents, Morgan grinned and then said "Bang~".

At her call, the girls began to shoot down the black serpents, Morgan with small dragon shots, Thalia with blue lightning bolts, and Hope with cosmic fireballs.

The creatures didn't even have time to dodge or get away, they were all shot down by the hunter and the girls, the human adults found themselves, once again gaping at what they were seeing the girls do.

Mr. Weyland then whispered, "I'm beginning to think that the girls really are who they say they are...".

Sebastian nodded "Yes..., especially with the fact that they can really use magic".

Lex sighed and shook her head "I'm just about ready to call it a day... this whole day has just been one thing after the other".

Suddenly, there was a very loud screech, the girls stopped shooting the serpents and looked around, Thalia frowned "What was that!?".

Hope looked over the few creatures that were left and watched them as they left "Looks like it was something calling those creatures back".

The hunter growled, Morgan heard him and then said "Looks like our new friend wants to get moving soon, whatever that was, it must not be good".

The hunter then turned his head toward the girls and nodded at them, Morgan, Thalia, and Hope smiled and nodded back, the hunter then began to walk away but stopped and waved at the girls with his head.

Morgan smiled and then turned to the human adults "Let's go! Looks like he knows where to go so let's follow him!".

Lex, Sebastian, and Mr. Weyland nodded and quickly made to follow, the girls all walked to the hunter's side, and he suddenly made a clicking sound and growled.

Morgan laughed "Yeah, they're not very smart, they did steal from you guys, but they didn't mean to make things harder for you, plus we can't just leave them here, that would be mean!".

The hunter growled but nodded, though Lex, Sebastian, and Mr. Weyland sweatdropped at the way Morgan verbally jabbed at them, still, they couldn't really say anything to defend themselves.

~Meanwhile, in the deepest chamber of the pyramid~

In this well-light room, hanged the queen of the serpents, a massive creature that was shackled to this chamber for the only purpose of laying eggs, the queen had called out to her children a few moments ago.

She knew that it was time to finally, be free, but she needed the help of her children, it didn't take long for some of her children to arrive, and the queen immediately hissed and screeched her orders at them.

The serpents, of course, didn't hesitate and quickly began to climb her body, they all position themselves nearby where she had been shackled and suddenly began to take bites out of her body with their little mouths.

The queen screeched in pain as her blood splattered everywhere, and got on her shackles, her highly acidic blood began to quickly melt them, the queen seeing this let out a roar of victory and anticipation.

The group followed the hunter through a bunch of corridors and passageways until they arrived in another chamber, this one, however, had some odd black-greenish stuff all over the walls, Morgan walked over the wall and touched it "Hm... it's sticky and tough too".

She suddenly ripped a piece of the material off the wall and stared at it for a few seconds, before crushing it with her hand, Thalia frowned as she looked around "But what is it?".

Hope walked over to Morgan and stared at the crushed material in her hand "It looks like ceramic... but far tougher, this reminds me of bees and wasps".

Mr. Weyland walked over to Hope and Morgan, while Sebastian and Lex looked around further in this chamber, Mr. Weyland, curious about what Hope meant decided to ask "What do you mean?".

Hope turned her head towards Mr. Weyland and explained "You know how bees and wasp make their nest? This sort of looks like that, which means, these creatures act with a colony mentality".

Hope looked around for a few seconds "This must be the nursery...".

Mr. Weyland frowned "If they act like bees and wasps... then that means there's a queen".

Thalia narrowed her eyes and looked down "Insect queens are usually bigger than the rest of the colony, which means, that somewhere in this pyramid, there's one of those black creatures the size of a house".

Mr. Weyland began to nervously sweat, this was definitely bad news for everyone, the hunter walked up to Morgan and growled, the little Stark seemed to understand and explained what they were talking about.

The hunter nodded to Morgan, before growling again, Morgan frowned and then turned her head towards Hope, Thalia, and Mr. Weyland "Our friend here, just confirmed what we just said, according to him there is a queen in this pyramid.

She can lay quite a lot of eggs and she's massive in size but he also said that we don't have to worry about her, she's shackled and can't move at all".

Mr. Weyland sighed in relief, while Hope and Thalia nodded to Morgan, suddenly, Lex called out to them "Hey guys!".

Everyone quickly walked over to where they saw Lex and Sebastian walk, they turned into a small hallway and found both of them staring at a wall, the girls arrived first and saw a few humans stuck to the wall.

However, what caught them by surprise, was that each person stuck into a wall, had a hole in their chest, Lex and Sebastian however, stared at one particular dead person in the wall.

Mr. Weyland noticed this and looked over to the dead person, only to sigh when he recognized him "Doctor Graeme...".

The girls heard Mr. Weyland and realized that the dead person might have been a friend or something to Lex and Sebastian, so they left them alone, instead, Hope walked over to another dead body and took a closer look.

She inspected the hole in the dead body's chest, Thalia walked over and took a look as well "What? Did something rip this guy's heart out?".

Hope didn't answer right away, she instead took a rubber glove out from one of her pockets and began to touch around the wound "Hm... no, no one ripped this person's heart out, something came out of his chest".

Thalia widen her eyes a bit "What? But how...".

Hope pulled her hand out of the dead body's wound and looked around, she then noticed a small dead arachnid creature on the ground, not to far from the dead body.

The little Potter bent down and took a closer look, while Hope was doing that, Morgan was walking around with the hunter and noticed some egg-like objects all over the floor.

She bent down in front of one of them and tried to sense it out, she felt a small energy signature within the egg-like object, a very familiar one at that "Hm... these things feel like the serpents, though they have a very little amount of life force".

The hunter didn't say anything and just watched the girls investigate, he was very much impressed with them and their observational skills, so he was curious if they would figure it out on their own.

Hope stood up and looked around "I think I get it".

Morgan stood up too "Yeah me too, these egg-like objects hatch the infant serpents, which I think it's those arachnid-like creatures on the floor".

Hope nodded "Yeah, and these arachnids lay eggs inside a host, what killed these people, was the actual serpents coming out of their chests.

Their rib cage has been opened from the inside, whatever hatched from their chest burst out of their chest and took off running".

Thalia grimaced and shook her head "Ouch... What a painful way to go...".

Hope nodded "Yeah, and a sure way to die too, not many beings would survive getting their hearts nibbled on and their chest bursting open".

Morgan nodded, only those with crazy healing factors like the Potter Family can survive something like this, she then leaned her head closer to Hope and whispered to her "Can we bring them back?".

Hope shook her head and whispered back "No, we need their bodies to be intact, their hearts are missing and the damage to their chest is too severe, plus, they seem to have died hours ago too, well most of them".

Morgan nodded, it was sad, but if there was nothing they could do about it, they might as well accept it, Uncle Harry had talked to them about feeling guilty about not being able to save someone.

Something they needed, since they felt very guilty about Marvin dying on their watch, her beloved uncle had told them, that sometimes people die and there was nothing they could do about it for various reasons, but that death wasn't a bad thing.

On the contrary, death was just another step in their lives, one that everyone would have to take at some point, but everyone that dies would be in the care of Death herself, and she cares for the good souls coming her way.

Morgan and Hope knew that Death was a good person, a caring aunt and mother, and that they can trust her to care for the dead of those they care for and love, so at times like these, Morgan would just ask her Aunty Death to take care of these people who died and let it be.

Something that Hope was also doing right now, the hunter nodded in respect for the girls and then growled, Morgan turned her head towards the hunter and listen as he clicked and growled some more, while pointing at his bracelet.

Everyone turned their heads towards the hunter and watched him do this with Morgan for a while, Lex then asked "What is he saying?".

Morgan crossed her arms and then began to tell everyone what the hunter wanted to do "Well, apparently, that bracelet on his arm can act as a bomb.

A very powerful one at that, he wants to use that to blow this whole place down, but then that means we'll have to quickly get out of here and I do mean quickly!".

The human adults frowned, they weren't really happy about taking such an action, Hope and Thalia liked the idea, they needed to make sure, none of these serpents survive and this was the best way possible to ensure that.

It was a very dangerous choice to take, but given the situation, it would be for the best, the humans knew this as well, but they were worried whether they would make it out of the pyramid in time or not.

None of them wanted to die after all, still, they also knew this was necessary, so in the end, Lex nodded "Okay, let's do that... I hope that bomb kills every one of those damn things".

Morgan nodded, she then turned her head towards the hunter and gave him a nod as well, the hunter growled and then began to press some buttons in his bracelet.

Soon, some red symbols began to blink on the bracelet while it let out a weird noise, and the girls immediately realized it was a countdown.

The hunter then took off his bracelet and threw it right in the middle of the egg-like objects on the floor, he quickly nodded to the girls, and Morgan immediately turned her head towards Hope and Thalia and said "All right! Grab a human and let get out of here!".

Thalia and Hope nodded, each girl then took an adult and threw them on their shoulders like a sack of potatoes, the hunter took off running and since he was the only one he knew how to get out of there, the girls ran after him.

Which was bad news to the adults, because they were been shaken and moved around a lot as the girls ran to get out of the pyramid before it exploded.

The group ran fast and in almost no time they made it outside the pyramid thanks to the hunter guiding their way, once outside the pyramid, everyone ran towards the ice tunnel leading out of this place.

They made it to the hole, but before they could make it, a serpent pounced on top of the hunter and pushed him to the ground from behind, Morgan immediately stopped and then threw Mr. Weyland towards Hope while calling out to her "Hope! Catch him!".

Hope immediately caught Mr. Weyland -who was screaming dear life- with her telekinesis and watched as Morgan ran back towards the hunter and kicked the serpent off of him.

After kicking the serpent away, Morgan yelled at Hope "Go! Get out here! We'll catch up".

Hope nodded and took off running and then flew out of the ice tunnel towards the surface, with Sebastian on her shoulder and Mr. Weyland floating beside her.

Thalia followed soon after and took off flying with Lex on her shoulder, Morgan then helped the hunter up and noticed he was missing his shoulder weapon.

But, they didn't have time to look for it, so Morgan grabbed the hunter and lifted him over her shoulder, the hunter gave out a startled and confused growl as Morgan took off running and then flew out of the ice tunnel as well.

More serpents ran towards the tunnel and tried to chase after the group, but then, the hunter's bracelet exploded violently and destroyed everything inside their ice cavern.

The girls felt the very air shake as the explosion echoed through the area, all three suddenly looked back and watched flames begin to rise up inside the ice tunnel and head for them, so the girls picked up speed and quickly made it out of the ice tunnel.

They kept flying away and made it past the village they arrived in, as the explosion began to destroy the ice and village in a sea of flames, the girls finally stopped a fair distance away and let their passengers down.

All three adults and the hunter drop on their hands and knees while breathing hard, they were all shaken by the speed the girls were going and were feeling very dizzy from the way they were being carried.

Didn't mean they weren't thankful, on the contrary, but right now they were trying really hard not to puke, even the hunter took his helmet off, to breathe better and just in case he returned his food out of his stomach.

On the other hand, the girls watched as a pillar of flames raised up towards the sky and lit up the night sky, then there was a big shockwave that shook the area startling everyone, except the girls who just stood there completely unaffected.

The ice then cracked, crumbled, and shattered destroying the entire village and a big area around it, Morgan suddenly shrugged and said "Meh, I can make a bigger explosion".

Thalia grinned, while Hope just shook her in amusement "It's not a competition Morgan".

Morgan grinned and nodded "Sure! But if it was, I would have definitely won".

Hope rolled her eyes at Morgan but had a very amused smile on her face, Thalia laughed a bit and then nodded "That's true Mog, everyone in the Potter household are experts in mass destruction and chaos after all".

By the time the entire area crumbled and became a massive crater, the Hunter had recovered, he stood up and then walked over to Morgan's side, he looked down the crater and stared at it for a few seconds.

After that, he began to softly growled, Morgan heard him and turned her head towards the hunter "Oh? You're welcome, I wasn't about to leave you down there to become monster food! We're partners~".

The hunter turned his head towards Morgan to face her and loudly roared, which only made Morgan grin, the hunter seemed content and happy that Morgan didn't even flinch and nodded at her.

Lex, Sebastian, and Mr. Weyland watched all of this happen, alive and tired of their whole ordeal, all they wanted to do is go home, suddenly Morgan turned her head towards the ice to the side and frowned "Something big is coming!".

Hope turned her head towards the adult humans and yelled "Get out of here! We can't afford to protect you and fight whatever is coming".

Lex shook her head "What? We can't leave you girls here!".

Thalia summoned her spear and spun it around "We'll be fine, it's you guys who really are in danger here! Go!".

Lex didn't like it, but she knew the girls were right, they couldn't help and would only get in the way, so very reluctantly, she nodded and then grabbed both Mr. Weyland and Sebastian's arms and pulled them to run away with her.

Meanwhile, the ground where Morgan was staring cracked, and this made Morgan smile "Well, looks like we're about to have some good fun~".

Hope walked up to Morgan "Don't use fire and be careful, the ice is probably very brittle and weak now from that explosion, one wrong move and this whole area will cave in".

Morgan and Thalia nodded, while the hunter roared and got ready as the ice finally cracked and shattered, the serpent queen emerged from the ice and loudly screeched as she climbed out of the tunnel she made.

Morgan was the first one to act, she took off flying and launched herself at the queen serpent, the queen didn't see her and received a knee to the chin, the queen's head whipped back and screeched in pain.

But the queen was not given any chance to react or do anything else, Hope took out her gauss pistol and shot at the queen with energy shots, the queen was hit by a barrage of energy bullets and was pushed back.

Thalia and the hunter took off running next, the serpent queen was then stabbed through both of her legs causing her to screech in pain, both the hunter and Thalia immediately jumped away to avoid the acidic blood of the queen.

The serpent queen then lashes out with her tail but Morgan caught it, with a roar she then pulled on it and lifted the queen into the air, the serpent queen screeched as she was lifted into the air and then slammed on the ground.

Morgan let go of the queen's tail as she bounced off the ground, the queen was left dazed and very hurt, but then was stabbed through the chest by Thalia, the dragonoid demigod then grinned at the serpent queen as her spear lit up with lighting.

The serpent queen screeched as thousands of volts of electricity ran through her body, Thalia continued grinned as she watched the queen screech and then said "Pops taught me this spell! You're the first thing that I've ever used a spell on! So bear witness to Thalia Potter's first ever spell!"

Thalia roar as lighting and mana engulfed her body, she then called out her spell "'Indignation!'" massive lightning bolts rained down on top of the serpent queen and Thalia, but the dragonoid demigod wasn't affected.

The serpent queen however was being electrocuted nonstop by the lightning storm, but Thalia wasn't done, as she stood on the serpent queen's chest she suddenly pulled out her spear and jumped back while finishing calling out her spell "'Judgement!'".

A massive sword construct of light and lightning magic dropped from the heavens and stabbed the serpent queen through, it released a massive amount of electricity and then exploded in a giant ball of light.

The serpent queen was disintegrated from the blast of light almost instantly, it only had time to loudly screech once before dying.

The hunter covered his face from the intense white light that drowned the entire area, however he felt the vibrations of the blast and was completely astonished by the power of whatever the girl used.

The ice underneath him suddenly cracked, which heavily worried him, but then he was lifted off the ground, and away from the crumbling ground, the hunter looked up.

He saw the one called Morgan look down and smiled at him while carrying him by the armpits "I got you!".

The hunter didn't understand the words but the intention behind them, so he nodded at Morgan, suddenly he heard the one called Hope speak "Thalia! What did I say about being careful!?".

The one who had killed the queen nervously laughed and seemed embarrassed "Sorry Firebird! I got too excited! and I have wanted to try that spell ever since Pops taught it to me".

The hunter didn't know who pops is, but he must be a great teacher to be able to teach these girls such abilities and powers, though the one called Hope huffed and shook her head.

She then looked down "Well, I guess it doesn't matter... I just hope this doesn't have any affect on the environment of the poor planet".

Morgan suddenly screamed, "Oh no! Mr. Penguin! Nooo!".

The hunter didn't know who Mr. Penguin was, but he must have been a great warrior given how the one called Morgan was grieving, it must have been a great loss to her clan.

After a bit, everyone landed a fair distance away from the crater that was the area they fought in, Morgan was still crying over Mr. Penguin's sacrifice while Thalia was patting her head and trying to cheer her up.

Hope watched all of that and sighed "This is why I tell you guys to hold back and be careful..." though she was scolding Morgan, she didn't have to tell her that Mr. Penguin probably died when the village was destroyed.
