Chapter 82: Conflict

Shido grinned. The grudge which lasted eight generations have finally ended at All Might's hands, though it came with a huge price.

"You always over do it, All Might." Shido floated beside and put his arm over his shoulder to support the wobbling hero.

"Ha...ha...let me do one more thing first..." All Might coughed a little before facing his back towards the camera while pointing at it.

"Now it's...your turn!"

"Wow...so cool..." Shido rolled his eyes at the double entendre All Might spoke,"Never thought you would be one who uses his brain."

But All Might's reaction to his statement was outside Shido's expectations,"Huh? What are you talking about?"

"Never mind...forget what I said." Shido sighed at this muscle-brained hero before supporting him out of the area for treatment.

*****************

The next morning, the world was in chaos.

Everybody had heard about the news of All Might being weakened. The government was complaining, the civilians were lamenting, the villains were celebrating and Shido was going on with his daily life.

News about All Might being weak didn't really affect him much. After all, he was the one who cured him in the first place. No one knew about his condition better than Shido and All Might himself.

It wasn't early, but Shido had taken a leave of absence to accompany Eri for the day since he had left her alone for the entire day yesterday, so he was currently at home eating breakfast at 10 am.

"Morning, Uncle Toshinori." Shido greeted the moment he went inside the kitchen where he found two other people present as well.

"Oh? Morning old man Torino and Officer Tsukauchi. What brings the both of you here at such an early hour?" Shido was surprised at the presence of these two but decided not to think too much about it and chose to bring out the milk carton from the fridge.

He was a growing boy and needed his daily dose of calcium to grow. He's ashamed to say that Eri had started to grow much faster than him and had almost reached his height, so he had been chugging milk these few weeks.

"Morning Shido. Is Eri still asleep?" Torino greeted back with a smile and asked.

Just as Shido was about to reply, a cheerful voice sounded from the stairs.

"Good morning!"

"Well, you've got your answer." Shido shrugged and continued drinking his milk,"So? What are you guys doing here?"

"Sigh, we're just discussing the problem of All Might...." Tsukauchi sighed sadly.

"The flame inside me has vanished. The symbol of peace is truly dead."

Thanks to Eri, both All Might's and Gran Torino's injuries have been healed, so both of them had no problem moving about.

However, Toshinori would never recover back to becoming 'All Might' since he had already given away One for All to Izuku.

"But there's still something I have to do."

There was silence for a while before Torino opened his mouth and asked,"So Himura Shigaraki is also Shimura's grandson..?"

"Don't forget who told us that though. Shouldn't we take it with a grain of salt?" Tsukauchi interjected.

"Not really. What he said was the truth. Tomura is not a threat now since I have already sealed his quirk, but his twin brother is smarter, more resourceful than him, and much more dangerous as well." Shido said while thinking internally,'It's not a problem for me though. If things do get to the troublesome stages, I'll just Ain to erase him off the face of the planet.'

"...I see...didn't the two of you ever interact with miss Shimura's family?" Tsukauchi asked, referring to Torino and Toshinori.

Leaning on his cane, Torino had an expression full of melancholy as he remembered the past.

"Well...Shimura's husband was killed. In order to keep her grandsons as far from the world of heroes as possible...she put them into different foster cares. She told me and Toshinori,'If anything happens to me, I want you to stay out of the boy's life'."

"So that promise was turned on its head...pretty tragic." Tsukauchi sighed. Fate sometimes works in strange and unwanted ways.

All Might clenched his fist and was about to say something before Torino started speaking first,"You will not find the twins. They are not anything less than a villain. Regardless of who their parents and grandparents were, they're still dangerous criminals. The ones to search for the twins will be Tsukauchi and me."

"How about me?" Shido asked.

"No need. You are not from our world after all." Torino said without thinking but Toshinori immediately exclaimed in shock,"Master!"

Shido's smile faded when he heard what Torino had said and the sound of a bowl crashing to the floor was heard.

True. He was not from this world. Why should he help? Why should he even stay here in the first place?

[A/N: In case you're wondering why this drama, mc is a twelve year old child or even younger since it was never specified how old he was before he was 'summoned' to this world, so he's mentally, though mature on various issues, is still child-like. You know, I need some character development. No one is perfect, not even Shido.]

Torino immediately realised how badly he phrased his words and immediately rushed towards him and pulled him to a hug.

But before he could do that, Shido disappeared into his shadows.

"Shit..." Torino cursed himself and his quick mouth for the first time in years before turning towards Eri who was frozen.

"W-What do you mean Shido isn't from our world?"

Eri was originally going to the refrigerator to get her milk for her cereal when she overheard the conversation between the four of them. Her young mind couldn't process what was happening and the hands holding on to the bowl of cereal lost its strength, causing the bowl to crash onto the floor.

"Sigh, Toshinori will explain to you later on, or you ask Shido himself. Anyways, Toshinori, you stay at UA and do what needs to be done. Even if you're no longer the symbol of peace, All Might is still alive and with us." Gran Torino hurriedly instructed Toshinori before rushing out,"I need to find Shido. If he comes back, please inform me and tell him I'm sorry."

Tsukauchi didn't delay his stay any longer as left as well after bidding Toshinori farewell.

"Uncle Toshinori? What did they mean by Shido not from our world?" Eri's eyes were brimming with tears and her voice was trembling.

She smiled as tears poured down her cheeks,"You're lying, right?"

"This..." Toshinori wanted to say 'yes', but he couldn't lie to the person Shido loves the most,"No."

"No...no...no..." Eri shook her head violently,"You're lying..."

Having said that, she immediately rushed out of the door.

Toshinori wanted to stop her but he was weakened.

"Sigh, this is too troublesome...this wasn't how he was supposed to break the news..."

"Hey, Yoshinon."

Shido was sitting down, hugging both of his knees to his chest.

"Yes, Shido?"

"Where are we?"

"How would I know? You were the one who teleported yourself."

In front of Shido was an ocean. Although it was almost noon, Shido didn't feel warm at all. In fact, he felt cold.

For the first time, he felt as though he didn't belong anywhere. He felt...isolated. Excluded. Shunned.

"What now?"

"Hm?" Yoshinon didn't know what he was asking about.

"What should we do now?"

Shido received no reply. Yoshinon's job was just to accompany him as a friend and support him no matter what he wanted to do. For important questions like that, Yoshinon didn't want Shido's answer to be influenced by him.

"What should we do now...?"

Shido repeated his question.

"Do I really not belong to any place?"

This time, Yoshinon replied with a firm tone,"No. You will eventually belong to a place. You just haven't found it yet."

"Really?"

"Really."

Shido didn't continue to question himself and stared at the sea.

"Why me, Yoshinon? Why was I the one who got summoned to this stupid world?" Shido muttered confusedly,"Seeing that there were other worlds out there, there must be an infinite number of worlds and an even greater number of people out there. And out of those infinite people, I was the one who was summoned."

"How unlucky..." Shido chuckled sadly,"I could have been enjoying my life back at my old world with my parents. Instead of teaching children how to become heroes here, I could have been the one who was taught instead."

"Instead of saving others, I could have been the one being saved."

"Instead of being alone in this foreign world, I could have been spending more time with my parents instead."

"You're not alone, Shido." Yoshinon raised his little paws and patted Shido on his head,"You are not and will never be alone."

"You have Uncle Toshinori who took care of you, your students who look up to you, Eri who loves you, and me."

Shido's eyes brightened a little as he thought about what Yoshinon had said before it dimmed again.

"But I don't know whether their thoughts will change when they hear about me not being from this world."

"It's rare for you to be so pessimistic, Shido." Yoshinon sighed as he didn't know how to comfort his friend.

Both of them remained quiet as they remained in the tranquility of the deserted beach.

It was, after all, still a weekday. Even after the famous fight between All Might and All for One, everybody's life still had to go on.

Adults have their work, children have their school, heroes and villains have their hero duties and evil crimes respectively.

These were what made up the current society.

So where did Shido fall into these three categories?

What should he do now?

Shido sighed and decided not overthink it and just stay here for a while.

He found shade under a tree and leaned on it, closing his eyes.

"Yoshinon, wake me up when it's night time. I don't want to be disturbed."

"Bu-"

"Please."

Yoshinon paused for a while, before eventually nodding his head and sighing,"Fine..."

"Thank you."

Between the two of them, not many words were needed.

Hearing the lull of the rhythmic ocean wave crashing against the shore, Shido soon found himself in his dreams.

*****************

"I'm here again, aren't I?" Shido sighed as he took a look around.

The all-too familiar scene of the house appeared once more.

The same thirteen shadows sat together around the long, rectangular-shaped table.

"So I'm just supposed to watch this scene over and over again?"

Shido was a little annoyed at this little 'dream' of his. It arrives at random times, doesn't give any information about anything whatsoever and forces him to watch a family have fun while he is alone at a corner.

Without any other choice he just sat on the ground since he couldn't even touch the sofa and looked at them with a wistful look.

However, halfway through the meal, one shadow suddenly stood up and walked towards him.

"Huh?" Shido was surprised as this was the first time a shadow had not followed the predetermined script.

The shadow sat beside him, and although he didn't move after that, Shido heard a voice.

"Shido..."

It was soft, barely a whisper but to Shido, it was as loud as thunder.

Shido opened his eyes wide as he turned his head towards the shadow beside him..

"Hello...?"

Shido greeted unsurely, but expectedly, the shadow didn't even turn towards him. Just as he was about to go back to his mopping, he heard the same voice.

"Don't...be....sad..."

Shido turned to face the shadow who was still facing the other shadows. There wasn't a face on the shadow, much less a mouth, but for some reason, he could very clearly hear a voice.

"Your...family...will...always...love...you..."

Six words. Spoken softly. Spoken slowly. Spoken securely.

These six words were something that he had heard from others before, yet none of them were spoken like how the shadow had spoken.

Without warning, tears started flowing down his cheeks.

'I am...crying...?'

*****************

"Shido...it's already night time." Yoshinon patted Shido's nose and spoke.

Shido abruptly opened his eyes and hurriedly touched his cheeks. It felt wet at his fingertips.

"Who...is he...?"

Yoshinon was about to ask what Shido was talking about when a soft voice suddenly interjected.

"S-Shido..."

Eri's head appeared, her eyes were swollen from crying too much and her cheeks were stained with tears.

"Eri..."
