52 Chapter 52: USJ (I)

"Today, the lesson would be a little different..." Shota announced from behind the teacher desk in the direction of the students who, after hearing him, were impressed by the information.

Shota, seeing this confusion, took out his sleeping bag and went inside without saying anything. However, before closing the zipper, he looked at Shido and said,"Itsuka-sensei, you continue..."

Shido did not say anything and just smiled wryly at Shota's attitude since he was used to it. Looking at the class, he spoke,"Today, we will go to the Unforeseen Simulation Joint, a particular place where field tests are carried out regarding rescue situations that may occur like fire, floods, earthquakes and more."

Immediately, the students got even more excited than before. Some of them even said out phrases like "I can finally demonstrate my quirk to its full power."

Each quirk had different abilities, there are quirks which are suitable for combat but on the flip side, there are also quirks suitable for more particular situations such as those of natural disasters where heroes need to search and rescue victims. Thus, the excitement of some students was completely understandable.

"Shut up!"

However, he was not going to explain things in a rowdy environment. Seeing that they were now silent and completely focused on him, he proceeded to give them the information regarding the place and activities, thus also answering some of the questions the students may have at the same time.

Then, seeing that it was time to leave, Shido woke Shota up who, with his usual listless look, guided the students to the bus.

Just before getting on the bus himself, Shota turned to Shido and asked,"What happened to All Might?"

"Oh, he got a call from some government official saying that he was needed for some rescue stuff at the other side of the country."

Shota gave an exasperated sigh,"That man is the height of irrationality. He clearly knew that he has lessons today, yet he chose to go to the other side of the country."

"Well, he can't turn a blind eye to someone in need, especially after knowing about it." Shido just laughed and replied,"But don't worry. Even if he wasn't here, I would still be accompanying you. And he probably would arrive before the class ends."

"Well, I sure hope he does..." Shota wished that All Might would actually arrive before the lesson ended, but didn't place much hope on it since he knew All Might's personality very well. After sighing another time, he got on the bus together with Shido.

Shota had the feeling that something unpleasant would happen today. He has a strange foreboding, and the lack of All Might had only magnifies that foreboding. It was a bit like the danger had grown in size and risk, but looking at Shido who was cheerfully humming to a song he did not recognise and Yoshinon who was joking with the students at the back of the bus, he immediately removed his worries.

'If someone had the ability to beat Shido, then no one else in this world would be able to defeat that someone.'

Shido looked at Shota's face and realised that Shota had a bad feeling about what would be happening today. He did not know what it was, but being together with Shota for about two years, he was able to tell what he was thinking about behind his listless expression.

"Don't worry Aizawa-sensei. I'm here for you..." Shido patted his shoulders while smiling.

Shota was about to thank him for his assurance before Shido continued.

"...even if you don't have a girlfriend. How about I introduce you to some ladies from my neighbourhood? They would love to date a pro hero, though you might have to freshen up your looks. Let's be honest, your current looks wouldn't be able to attract anyone. Women or men."

"..."

Shota stared at Shido's grin for a while before zipping up his sleeping bag, deciding to ignore Shido for the rest of the journey.

During the trip, the students started talking about quirks, and between their discussions, they came to talk about Shido and his 'quirks'.

"Itsuka-sensei, your quirk is certainly one of the most striking, strange and unique quirk out there. You can 'summon' a piano, a broom, a clock, a puppet. Can you tell us what it is exactly?"

"Hey! I'm not a puppet!"

A student named Tsuyu Asui, a girl of short build with particularly large hands, moreover, with a rather similar appearance to a frog, asked. To this question posed by her, the other students also began nodding along with her.

After all, as Tsuyu said, Shido's 'quirk' is certainly peculiar.

When Shido was called, he looked in the direction of the student who called him out and said with a smile,"Asui-san, my quirk is~a~secret~"

Looking at Shido's reaction, the students realised that maybe they made a small mistake asking such personal things. After all, one's quirk is their own secret, and not everyone likes to show off their quirks.

Upon hearing the loud discussions, Shota woke up and unzipped his sleeping bag, and noting that they weren't far from the place, he said,"We are almost there, please be a little silent..."

Once off the bus, the students began exclaiming with joy and emotion since, after All Might's lesson, they can finally have another fantastic experience. Not to mention that this experience would also help them out a lot in order to prepare them as future pro heroes.

"Welcome to the Unforeseen Simulation Joint, also known as U.S.J!" The students heard a voice say this, so they looked in the direction of where the voice came from and noticed a figure that looked like an astronaut from her clothing.

"I think Aizawa has already explained to you what this place is all about, right?" She asked.

Hearing this question, the students shook their heads in denial, so Shota immediately said in response,"No, it wasn't me. Itsuka-sensei explained everything to them, so I guess they knew everything there is to know about this place, Space Hero."

The hero who went by the name of Space Hero nodded at Shota's response,"So I won't stop to explain what this place is about. Before we begin, just one thing...or two...or three...or four. But firstly, I'll explain what saving people entails!"

"Each quirk has its purpose, even the smallest or the least important roles can be fundamental in making something work correctly. Something similar to a missing piece of a puzzle, but it is this piece that, if inserted in another place, may not work and break something."

"You and your quirks are like this piece, and society is the complete puzzle without that small space. You must find yourself in this society which, thanks to the rules governing the use of quirks, has allowed the correct development and has allowed aspirant heroes like you to become someone useful! Every hero, every civilian aspires to become someone useful, and it is thanks to the quirks that we succeed in these feats."

"Remember, quirks can do good as well as harm. It is your purpose to master this power and control it to save more lives in every possible situation! And this is precisely where the U.S.J comes into play. And with this, I have concluded." Space Hero finished saying with a bow.

Hearing the hero's words, the students remained standing with open eyes. They have been at school for a few days, but every single day has turned out to be a real-life lesson in which many things have been learnt.

Immediately, the students began clapping their hands, applauding with great force in the direction of the astronaut hero who, hearing this commotion, got up from her bow.

In particular, Ochaco was especially enthusiastic in her applause since she met with her idol.

Seeing that the applause wasn't going to stop anytime soon, Shota immediately interrupted the students,"Okay, that's enough applause. First of all, we have to divide the students into..."

However, he didn't manage to finish saying before Shido interrupted him,"Aizawa-sensei, it seems like we have unwelcome visitors."

At Shido's words, Shota took away his listless gaze and adopted a serious one, turning around and looking in the direction of Shido's gaze. At that point, he noticed a black portal had appeared and enlarged to a size about three times the size of a human.

From that portal, people of all kinds began to come out, some more normal, while others with physical signs, the symbol of a physical mutation caused by one's quirk.

Shota immediately confirmed his suspicion and his omen. For this reason, he shouted in the direction of the students,"Immediately move behind Space Hero so that you can be protected! Don't move and make a group!"

Shota was also about to look at Shido to say something, but seeing that calm expression without any anxiety or agitation, he didn't say anything anymore.

Looking forward, once he put his glasses on to hide the use of his quirk, he charged at the enemies that came out of the portal.

'The situation is definitely in Aizawa-sensei's favour.' The students thought as they watched that one-sided confrontation, but Shido knows very well that Shota could do nothing against this U.S.J. raid. He didn't know their entire plan, but anyone who could gather this many small-fries, expendable pawns and cannon fodders would either be someone with great influence or someone with great power.

But usually, someone with great influence would gather heroes instead, so Shido immediately ruled out the possibility. This meant that all the big fish and big shots are at least Shota's level, if not higher.

Shido then continued to watch that fight, and while Shota was fighting, the 'big fish', as Shido called them, were also watching the hero's guerrilla warfare against their minions.

The students, seeing that Shota had everything under control, immediately began to evacuate under the guidance of Space Hero. However, they had not even taken a few steps when the same 'substance' which the villains appeared from previously appeared again, but this time in front of them.

Shota was always keeping an eye on the situation behind him in case anything went wrong.

The substance had once again formed a portal, or rather, it had transformed into a person. A person with the same characteristics as the portal, an almost gloomy hark cloud, and in the midst of that, a humanoid form with two yellow eyes inside.

Some students rushed against this 'person' when they saw him coming out, attacking him with all their strength that they managed to put into play.

"Remarkable, I have to admit, I am very impressed by this test of your power. But as you have seen, it is useless. Therefore, let's move on to serious business now."

"Once again, greeting. We are the villain alliance." The figure said with a bow,"I apologise for the presumption but we took it upon ourselves to enter UA High school, the base of heroes in order to engage with Mr All Might the 'Symbol of Peace'. We were wondering if we might be allowed the opportunity to extinguish him, you see."

At these words, all the students stopped and suddenly exclaimed, their faces presented only two emotions - confusion and panic. In some, however, there was even a bit of mockery.

Confusion and panic was a normal thing to have. Mainly in these aspiring novice heroes, their experience wasn't rich at all. For this reason, listening that a bunch of madmen were aiming to kill All Might, the same figure who is in their hearts as the symbol of heroes and justice and the pillar of society, they cannot help but fall into panic.

On the other hand, those people who are more serious or at least have more confidence in their abilities clearly know that All Might cannot be beaten. Their actions were pure madness.

Shido observed these changes in the faces of the students and can also understand what they were thinking. It wasn't difficult at all. Their faces were like open books, and a person with some experience can easily make use of the knowledge present in the books and use it against them very easily.

The figure then paused. Seemingly not bothered in the least about the commotion amongst the students, he looked around the area before continuing,"Was Mr All Might not meant to be in attendance at this juncture? Perchance, has something been altered? What a pity..."

"...but I want to ask myself, how will he react once he knows that his beloved students and one of the closest people to him dies within these walls. The very same walls that should be considered the safest. UA would take a terrible blow. Their reputation would collapse, don't you think?"

He didn't finish saying it when an irritated voice reached his ears,"Stop talking Kurogiri!"

Turning around, the figure who was called Kurogiri immediately replied,"It is mandatory to introduce yourself. It's a symbol of good manners, but you are right."

Once the students heard that voice, they too turned around and saw the same person who first came out of the portal, and with his behaviour, it is clear about one thing. He is the leader of this group.

But just as Kurogiri was about to act, the same voice that interrupted him shortly before spoke again, but this time with a cold and crazier tone of voice.

"It is you!"
