Chapter 23: 5 Years later

Five years had passed, and Shido had grown fabulously. His fame had soared higher than ever, and now even foreigners had come to Japan to listen to his concert live. He was currently 12 years old, and had grown taller. He was currently 150 centimetres tall, just slightly taller than Eri who was 148 centimetres tall. His light indigo hair had remained the same, with his bangs still covering his left eye. He had a lean, swimmer-built, and was very handsome. He attracted a lot of attention with the aunties in the shopping mall, where he often went with Eri on their 'dates'

Eri on the other hand, had looked almost similar to her past without changing much. Her bluish, off-white hair was still messy and unkempt, which was parted in the middle of her forehead, almost reaching down to her waist. She has very wide, innocent-looking eyes, which were bright red in colour. Poking out from the right side of her forehead is a small, brown horn, which grows larger when her Quirk is activated. She was very cute, and if she went out without any disguise, all the aunties in the nearby market or shopping malls would surround her and pamper her.

Over the course of five years, they had grown a lot closer to each other, seeing that they had a lot of similarities in common. Both of them had time-related quirks, they were both playful and cheerful, and didn't have a family in this world, Toshinori didn't count. Toshinori got closer with them, and they treated him closer than others, but it was not to the point where they would sacrifice everything for each other.

For Eri however, it was different. Shido would support her in everything she wants to do, including burning the whole world. Her importance was on the same level as Yoshinon in his heart, and her safety would always be his top priority, even if he didn't admit it in front of anybody. They weren't dating, yet, since they were still twelve, and they had a lot of time together in the future to confirm their feelings, whether or not it was truly love, or was it just familial love.

The five years had been meaningful to him, and he often did hero jobs as well, even if he didn't have his pro hero license. Nobody could catch him, and eventually after 3 years of futile efforts, they gave on catching him and just let him do his thing. It wasn't as if Shido was doing anything villainous anyway, and he was actually helping All Might with keeping the society in order.

He even got on the hero ranking, earning the 'Rank 0' place on the Hero Billboard. Since he didn't have a pro hero license and the Pro Hero Association refused to let him enter the rankings, the society just made it up their own ranks on the Hero Billboard, and his unofficial rank was Rank 0. When Shido first heard about it, he spent the entire day laughing at Toshinori, saying that he was placed above him on the Hero Billboard. Eri also joined in laughing at him, but she still tried to comfort him after laughing at him.

Toshinori didn't really care about ranks in the first place, but no adults would like to have a kid laugh at them for being better than them, but no matter how hard he tried to do better, he could never remove Shido from his number 0 spot. He ended up sulking for an entire day, causing Japan to wonder where All Might disappeared to that day.

He wasn't a hero, and never considered himself as one. If being a hero meant being bound to strict rules and regulations, he would rather not be one. Of course, he would still capture villains on days where he wasn't performing, and at night, when he needed to replenish his 'time' from using Zafkiel, he would then go to some gangs and devour all of them. Eri was the only one who knew his secret, and because she wasn't influenced by the ideology that killing is evil from young, she accepted it after a few weeks of thinking. After all, even if you don't mind people killing, accepting it was another matter, especially when it came from your loved one.

During the day, he would only show Gabriel to capture villains by mind controlling them to turn themselves in, which proved to be a very good capture method without any civilians being hurt or the environment being damaged. He would also use Haniel in rescue missions, to turn all the concrete above the victims into various soft things such as sweets and plush toys, making his rescue rate and villain capture rate at a very high success rate of 100%.

Of course, it was all done when he was still mosaiced, and up till now, no one knew his true appearance apart from a few people which included Eri, All Might, Hisoka, Nezu and some other top brass who were present in the meeting five years ago.

However, just two years ago, he joined UA high school as a teacher, causing massive news to explode all over Japan. Of course, he still did his hero duties, but he taught at UA more often. By 'taught' though, all Shido really did was just accompany the students and observed them in whatever they're doing, something similar to an assistant teacher.

He worked together with a teacher there to teach the year 1s, but most of the time he would be free to do what he wants. This year, he was especially free since the teacher he worked with, Shota Aizawa had expelled the entire class for, and he quotes, 'incompetency and having zero potential.' Of course the media made a mess out of it, but the reputation of UA had dwarfed everything else, and forcibly shut down the rumours.

Shota was his favourite teacher since he didn't have the standard idealist that heroes shouldn't kill. Not that he wants all villains to die, he just didn't know why heroes were not allowed to retaliate when facing against a person who wanted to kill you. Not only that, he was also extremely realistic, and made quick, decisive and accurate decisions. Therefore, he also agreed with his thinking, and supported his decision in expelling everyone. It was totally not for his entertainment. Of course not.

He had taught a few pro heroes, like the recently debuted 'Mount Lady', a girl with the quirk 'Gigantification'. Although he saw her only for her last year, it was memorable to say the least since she was often sent to the infirmary from various fights all year long.

In the end, after five years, he had matured a lot. He had grown much stronger than before, especially after the fight with All Might, in private of course. He didn't lose but neither did he win, though he only used Zafkiel, Zadkiel, Camiel, Raphiel and Sandalphon. The others were either auxiliary or too strong. Of course, if he used Ain Soph Aur, Ain Soph, or Michael, he would instantly win without a doubt. Based on physical strength alone, All Might was faster, stronger and had more durable defence than him, but based on versatility and abilities, he had more.

The years passed by fruitfully, and with All Might's presence together with Shido's, the society was much more peaceful than others.

A/N: Btw, a hero ranking doesn't determine how strong a hero is, it is calculated based on a variety of factors such as charisma, which endeavor doesn't have since he is always frowning, power, number of cases solved, how efficiently there were solved, and are reduced by casualties caused, properties damaged and so on.

So Shido had about 5 years to do stuff, and he solved each case with perfect ease without any necessary damage since he could just transform everything back in case of a destructive villain, use his shadow manipulation in case of hostage mission, and use his mind control (Gabriel) on intangible or invisible enemies. So in case if you're wondering how he managed to get so much support, all of the above plus his popularity as a musician, he became a rank 0 hero.
