3 First Step

"Wait. Can you teach me about the system in this world?" I asked.

Her steps stalled when she heard my request. I realized teaching newbies about this world must be exhausting, but as she said earlier. I can't just believe some people.

I'm sure, she had absolutely no ill will towards me. Moreover, she had already saved me from the young man just now. It was more than enough to prove what kind of attitude she was.

"You can learn it through the help menu." She flipped over, looking back at me with her head down. To be honest, her posture is relatively high. Even I had to straighten my head to return her gaze.

"Oh is it? But it would be more understanding for me if it was helped by an experienced person like you," I replied, looking for excuses.

The woman smiled while occasionally laughing. I don't understand what response she actually showed.

"You turned out to be the kind of person who chose to be self-taught, yeah? I could have taught you about this world, but I don't have time for it," the woman explained, rejecting my wishes.

I can't force it either. I knew her responsibilities by pleasing such a silver armour must be heavy, whether she had to join her army or lead her group of adventurers.

I didn't want my request to her to make her feel depressed and instead ignore the task she was carrying out. So perhaps the best option is to teach yourself about this world.

"Alright. I understand," I said softly with a slightly disappointed heart.

"Be strong. You can ask others for help while remaining cautious," the woman explained, saying goodbye as she walked away, leaving me still standing alone in the middle of the room.

Before looking for someone to study with, I started to walk toward the reception desk to give the form. I don't know the function, but the young manager looks serious as she writes it down.

"Excuse me. Miss Stephanie told me to give this to you," I said, handing the paper form to the reception lady, who received it with a smile.

"Is that so? Let me see first, "said the receptionist briefly.

The queue behind my back grew longer by the minute, as time went by faster when I was in front of the reception desk.

The woman started to stand up and held out two different things, a form I gave with a unique stamp and a bag of coins, I don't know how much.

"Here it is."

"What can I do with this form?" I asked, confused.

"You can save it for other needs, such as registering for the Royal Army. You can also use that to ask the blacksmith to make weapons as you wish," explained the receptionist, detailing the function of the form I was holding right now.

"Okay. I quite understand." I folded the form and put it in my trouser pocket. When I was about to say goodbye to her, she stopped my steps and asked me to come closer by swinging her hand.

Her mouth went to whisper something to me.

"Your class is Paladin. You have to be careful," the receptionist replied quietly.

I nodded my head. How many times have people I met today said the same sentence: to be careful. But, it raised a thousand questions in my mind, what really happened to people with the Paladin Class?

The most important thing for me is that I don't show my status to other people, whether ordinary people or fellow Adamas like me. If they told me to be careful often enough, the threat that haunted me was real and dangerous.

"You're here apparently."

A woman's word startled me. When I looked away, I saw the silver-armoured woman was already waiting for me outside the Guild Office.

"You? What are you doing here?" I asked, surprised.

"I have come to guide you until you can protect yourself," the woman explained, her words completely contradicting the statement she made a few minutes ago.

"Don't you have time to teach me?"

"Of course. However, after hearing a confession from my friend about your true identity. I became interested to see further, "explained the woman.

Her friend? Who is the real friend she is referring to? Only two people know my identity in this world, Jacob and Stephanie. One of them must have leaked it.

My legs slowly walked backwards, avoiding the woman because her words were really suspicious to me. However, after finding out who I really was, she again reassured me that she had no ill intentions toward me.

"I'll believe you if you tell me which friend are you referring to?"

"She's Stephanie, a blonde, fair-skinned woman who works as a boring young manager. I happened to meet her when I was done talking to you," the woman replied.

"Stephanie?"

"I realized that your protective attitude was due to your class. It's sad, but what can you do? You have to do it," the woman said.

I agreed with what she said. She was not wholly wrong, even though the choice of words in those words was quite harsh to me. I have to get used to the attitude of self-introspection for my own good in the future.

The woman was wearing her hips while looking into my eyes, "I'm not always there to protect you. So you have to be tough as yourself."

"The first thing you have to do is buy or order a special weapon," the woman continued.

The receptionist also said the same thing, and the adventurers who gathered in the guild held their own weapons even though they were simple.

She invited me to walk on the main village road to a place. The woman explained that the blacksmith shop she was going to was her customer, so she guaranteed satisfactory results.

Her name is Eva. I can call her Eve like people in general, even though Eve and Eva are pretty different.

She is from a village outside Stockhelm. That's the name of the town I'm in right now.

The distance is quite far and entirely separated from the line of shops in the centre of the village. However, several adventurers beside Eve came to buy equipment or just look around without buying.

"Miss Eve," said the blacksmith owner, large and stocky with dark brown skin.

His head is bald and visible muscles in both large eyes display veins that give rise to a frightening impression for anyone who sees.

"He needs a weapon." Eve glanced at me. Suddenly the blacksmith man started to look at me sharply.

"His body is thin. Are you sure he can lift a sword?" asked the big man, doubting my abilities after seeing my muscleless build.

"He wasn't born here. You know, he's a blue sensor," Eve replied, her voice low enough, but I could still hear it.

"Oh, I see. That just makes sense."

"Then what kind of weapon do you want?" asked the man, now looking at me with his usual expression.

I didn't answer right away. I'm not sure which weapon is suitable for my class, but I saw the sketch from the old book that Stephanie showed me. I can use a variety of weapons.

To prove that, I approached one by one the types of weapons available at the blacksmith shop. I hold and lift it firmly, even though it's heavy, but I can balance it.

I managed to hold the sword without a hitch, as did the spear, arrow, bow, and mace. I don't feel anything bad.

"What are you doing?" Eve came over. Her eyes looked at me with an even expression.

"I'm trying to see if there are some weapons I can't use. However, it looks like I can use them all."

"Is that true?" asked Eve, she seemed to turn around, and the question was to the man who owned the blacksmith.

"I don't know. However, the news circulating is so. The owner of the blue sensor can't touch any other weapon other than their main weapon," said the man, walking closer.

"If you can, then your class can be considered special and rare," said Eve. She patted my shoulder hard like she was really excited.

I thought differently. This shows a significant difference. Adventurers can use a variety of weapons, but other Adamas will know my identity when they see the blue sensor I have.

I can conclude that I can't use various weapons that look conspicuous, such as the spear in the right hand, the sword in the left waist, and the bow and arrow in the back.

Really ridiculous!

"I'd like to order you two types of weapons," I explained, putting the sword I was holding back in its place.

"Okay. What's that?"

"One sword and one stick can change shape into a long spear."

"Stick?" asked the man, who must be confused by my request.

"Why don't you just pick a sword? It's easier, and many people use it too," asked Eve, curious.

I'm fell silent. What Eve said was true. The sword had always been the primary weapon of adventurers to protect themselves. However, the class I have is not a specialization in the use of sword weapons.

"I think that by using a spear as the main weapon, my abilities will surpass other Adamas because of my difference," I explained.

Eve slapped her forehead lightly. I'm sure she was confused by my decision. She immediately turned her face and looked at the man beside her.

"Can you make it?" Eve asked.

"I will try. I've worked on custom weapons like this before. So, I will try my best," replied the blacksmith.

"Good. I'm counting on you, Sir."
