1 Waiting to Die

"Heh, and that's #100!" Levi said in a dull tone. He watched as a mosquito landed on his leg and attempted to suck his blood, but right before it could it suddenly shriveled up and died.

"When will these nasty bugs learn?" He said aloud. Levi was currently sitting awkwardly against a very tall tree, and even though he was not in the most flattering pose, he somehow managed to look quite handsome. He was an average height of 5'8 and had long, beautiful white hair that was braided into a single braid and rested on his shoulder. The most striking feature of his were his bright ruby red eyes, they were so red that they looked as if they were glowing.

'Today it has officially been 3 years since that day.' Levi thought to himself while sighing. After the death of his parents, he was completely lost. He didn't know where to go nor what to do and ended up wandering through the forest waiting for his death. As an elf, he was born with immortality, and he can go for a very long time without eating or drinking. Elves can live for 10 years without eating or drinking, and Levi hasn't had anything to eat since that day.

Levi watched as a weird mutated bug flew towards his leg. He was anticipating the moment it tried to attack him, as this was the only form of entertainment he could find while being alone. Right before it landed, an arrow suddenly pierced it, while barely missing Levi himself.

"!!" Levi was very startled and immediately stood up.

'Why is someone shooting at me? Could it be slave hunters?' Levi started sweating. In this world elves were known for their beauty, and there was a high price for them on the black market. Levi ducked behind the huge tree and peered out at where the arrow had come from. He wasn't stupid enough to leave his home without a weapon, and he brandished his dads old steel sword. Even if he had basically given up on life, he would much rather survive this than become a slave for a disgusting perverted noble. He waited for a while and suddenly heard voices.

"Jae! Monoc nor shyr!"

Levi couldn't understand what the supposed slave-hunters were saying, but it sounded like there was at least 4 of them.

"Ukor a vishin, nay huke"

"Hay!"

Suddenly the voices stopped and Levi felt a shiver down his spine.

'Why did they suddenly go quite?' Levi was frozen and didn't move, even if he could block attacks, that doesn't mean he could get out of a cage.

"Halsten!"

Levi heard a young teenage voice shout before he was suddenly bombarded by a flurry of ice arrows.

"Ah!" Levi shouted, he was surprised at the sudden attack and couldn't help but yell out. The ice arrows that were aimed straight at him made contact, before turning and raining down on the attackers.

"Ahh!! Jus moloc?! Jus a he moloc???" The attacker started yelling confused as to why his arrows suddenly shot back at him. Before the group of men could prepare to attack, a sword suddenly pointed at the neck of one of them.

"Who are you people?" Levi said angrily, he was praying his nervousness didn't show as this was the first time he had pointed his weapon at humans.

"Pik, len e garol!" One of the teenage boys stepped forward hands above his head. This boy was Vincent Forrest, he was traveling with a group of exam takers for the SuperHuman Academy exam. He and his group heard a sound and without warning, one of his group members, Shay, said he was going to attack. Vincent had shouted not to, as they didn't know the source of the noise. Shay who was hardheaded fired an arrow before signaling the rest of the to follow. Vincent watched as they snuck up on whatever creature was there and continued shooting arrows. Not only was it an "irresponsible" thing to do thought Vincent, but also very "foolish"!

'These unintelligent bipedal monkeys! Why is it his first instinct to attack! Thank goodness it's only an elf, but it could have been anything!' Thought Vincent.

Vincent thought for a moment before stepping forward with his hands raised to show his sincerity. Unfortunately the elf seemed to tense even more and the sword moved from Shay straight to his neck. Vincent winced as a bit of blood trickled down his neck.

"I promise that we mean you no harm, I have a spare Communication enchantment seal that we can exchange with eachother." Vincent said, while signaling the best he could his intentions.

Levi still sweating stared at the human boy, he couldn't understand what the other was saying. The boy motioned to his bag and Levi was startled thinking he might have a weapon. He slashed the boys bag and the contents that fell out made him unsure of wether to laugh or cry.

'This guy has interesting taste…' Levi could only think.

On the ground was a pink notebook decorated with unicorns, as well as a few pencils, a pink pen, some snacks, and a seal.

Vincent's face lit up beet red as he heard the group beside him snickering.

"S-shut up! This is a gift from the most important girl in the entire world! I'm lucky that my sister gave me her most prized notebook! You all should look away from it, before I have to stab out your unworthy eyes!" Vincent uttered.

The group looked at eachother awkwardly.

'Do you think we care about your sister? This siscon.'

Levi who was ignoring the group quickly snatched the seal off the ground. He recognized it because he had used this specific seal before. Living in the forest is difficult when you can't communicate with the other races of subhumans and they use these Communication Seals quite often. He stuck the seal on the back of his hand and was surprised when it glowed and disappeared. Only Medium level seals can do this, if a seal glows and disappears it means that it can be used long term. Low level seals can only be used once before they dissapear and they only last a day. High level seals were almost unheard of, these seals could be bound to the soul and their effects completely permanent.

"Now, tell me. Who are you people?" Levi said in an emotionless tone.
