Chapter 17: No Mercy

It's beginning, the cheering of the crowd can be heard all over the city, people are watching the live streams and the participants all wait anxiously.

The moment had arrived, it was finally time to battle. Riza and Lucian look around but can't seem to find Acacius, Lucian looks at Rizas' emotionless face and can tell that she's worried about him.

"It's alright I'm sure he's fine" Lucian says as he gives her a thumbs up and smile.

Riza doesn't do anything except nod her head, everyone eventually enter the arena ground. The crowds cheers are deafening and without warning the announcement is made

"FIGHT!!!"

Explosion and tremors start appearing instantly, the arena is big and there are trenches and rocks to hide behind. Lucian grabs Riza and jumps into the trench before a fire ball could hit them. Lucian and Riza barely have enough time to recover before a second wave of fire balls begin dropping.

"They must've planned this" Lucian explains to Riza. The Enemy team has all mages, archers amd gunners in the back with tanks blocking frontal assaults and fighters behind the tanks in case anyone makes it past.

Lucian looks around and notices that everyone in his team are scattered and fighting by themselves, small groups of threes and twos are quickly dispatched of.

The team has no leader which causes some problems but no one is willing to accept a leader. Lucian smiles and begins to shake, his eyes glow yellow and his hair begins to grow longer. Black and white wind begins to surround him.

Lucian lunges in the air and yells at the top of his lungs "FOLLOW ME!", everyone looks towards him, but no one listens. Lucian clicks his tongue and uses his wind abilities to launch himself towards the tanks.

Lucian slams down on one taking him out, he slowly stands up and asks "Who's next?". Everyone begins to surround him but they can't pin him, Lucian releases his wind magic to create wind blades the spin around him. Although Lucian is stronger than the other team, they begin to wear him down.

Lucian begins to slowly get tired after using his wind to keep his enemies at bay, reflect incoming fire balls and wind springs to launch himself to safer distances. He runs around the battle field to keep his enemies distracted so that his team has time to recover.

Lucian stops for a moment to catch his breathe, "This is it" he thinks to himself. He had enough, he clutches his fist and begins tensing his entire body, the dark wind begins to surround him completely and his eyes slowly start turning red.

But before they could finish a spear smashes the ground infront of him. Lucian looks up and sees Riza is falling from the sky, Riza pulls out her dagger in her right hand and puts her left infront of her, Riza releases a fire ball creating more distance between Lucian and the enemy team.

Lucian creates a wind spring to catch Riza, She lands safely infront of Lucian and next to her spear. She puts her dagger away and picks up her spear, Lucian smiles and tries to say something but is ignored as Riza quickly rushes into battle.

She faster than Lucian, her lightning attribute allows her to move faster then normal, she blitzes through the tanks and straight to the mages, she plunges her spear through one mage and pulls it out.

"AAAAHHHHH!!!" The screams of the man and the cheers of the crowd emerge as one, Everyone looks at Riza either shocked or scared , her face the same as ever but its covered in blood. Lucian notices that she doesn't feel anything after that but before he says anything she disappears and resumes her assault.

Riza charges at more mages, they begin to run as the threat of death became real to them. The mages run towards the tanks and fighters but slowly get picked off by Riza. The tanks attempt to turn around but the rest of the ally team begin to charge forward.

Riza and Lucian had created the opening they needed, and now everything has fallen into place. Lucians' stamina had finally recovered, he rushes towards the archers and gunners. Bullets and magic arrows fly towards Lucian, he dodges the bullets and starts taking them down.

Although their allied forces had attacked the tanks and fighters they were ultimately defeated. Riza and Lucian quickly regroup and stand back to back. The raid had failed and it was just the two of them left, Riza and Lucian attempt to think of a plan. The remaining enemy team begin to circle Riza and Lucian, the pair can see no other options than to fight.

Riza clutches her spear and waits to see who will attack first. Lucian eyes begin to turn red slowly and Riza begins to pull out Acacius' blade but before either of them do anything. A hand stops Riza from revealing the sword. Acacius had finally shown himself.
