the start of the first mission

after the meeting ended the masked figure is walking down the hallway to their post before suddenly stopping and grabbing the chain that came out of their shadow

"Brother, why do you still do this"

they say as their monotone voice now sounds tired looking at the figure of shadow nearby

"We both know why"

they say sounding fueled with rage

"Brother, you still blame me for that? we both knew it was inevitable "

as they drop the chain back into the shadow and continue on shadow glaring at them As they leave as they soon also start going to their post

as soon as jake wakes up from their nap as they get out of their house going right to the building

"I doubt it would be an apartment or hotel 'cause there are already plenty of homes and, why then would it have another elevator? so, what is it?"

as I start walking toward the building again, on its opening day to get something about it, at least its surface-level purpose, I soon see brownie nearby standing on her back and everything

as I soon start walking over to her to say hello though she beat me to the punch

"Hello, again you seem ready to go to that building today huh? did you forget food this time too?"

"brownie I just woke up and the building can open at any time!, so I can at least know what its surface purpose is"

"so no food, either way, the building won't open until a couple of hours at least, so just eat something to wait"

brownie says starting to go toward the building

"wait didn't yo-"

as brownie looks over and interrupts

"I already got my food, and I also have to set up my stand, I am a businesswoman remember"

as they continue in their upbeat walk to the building as I sigh and walk towards the food giveaway and wait in the usual line only to see

"Jerry!?"

Jerry in cook's usual place of the food give away inspecting every piece of food before giving to it as they look as paranoid as usual

they have orange hair, glasses, green eyes, a lab coat, an orange t-shirt, and jeans, as their line of theirs is a bit smaller than the average due to people rather not wanting to wait hours

as, eventually I made it to the front looking at Jerry, feeling my feet burning from standing so long as I look over to him with a shit-eating grin

" well look at that, how is working on food give away jerry"

Jerry looked tired from that comment as they start inspecting all of the food their giving

"look I didn't want to be put here apparently my name was drawn to do this!"

"Did something happen to cook then?"

"they seem to be taken by the leaders for something I'm trying to find for what but darn is security on that info much"

"what security?"

"metal security, I hear it's because someone broke into their, pro-ject"

as Jerry slowly turns their head to me with an excited look

"jake, you wouldn't happen to know someone, or did something, similar didn't you?"

smiling as I do a little nod Jerry makes a smile as well dumping the food on me

"then get there I may not be able to but you can!"

As I hold the food for the day, giving a nod as I eat the apple Jerry did check from the food and starts to rush over to the building, and, it's a new crowd and I can barely get close to the building, luckily it's when it's nearly opened

I see brownie having her stand open to sell food for treats, and Cody as another face in the crowd though looking more at its architecture than anything else

as I can already tell I made it in time as there is movement as the door begins to open, showing

"cook!?"

there is cook with their fang tooth, white t-shirt, and jeans looking tired like it's another day at the job as they stand straight with a piece of paper in hand and begin speaking

"Hello everyone, this is cook here with an announcement "

while I was shaken that cook is here and doing an announcement I also decide to pay attention to what cook said as cook is speaking in a tired tone

"his building is the adventurer building, if you want to take quests this building is open, the points for the quests will then be put in for items this place will sell, and the rooms are all available to turn in for research, as well act as storage, and crafting areas, that is all"

as they put the paper in their pocket and walk down to the open building and walked inside, a good bit also start walking inside, mostly out of curiosity as I go along with the crowd inside, however, most soon leave again as I couldn't tell why until it clears, showing cook standing tiredly beside, wolf

in their armor at the long desk Noticing me as I figured why

"they guessed "

many grew cold feet seeing wolf however that didn't stop a brave few including me and Cody that stayed until wolf spoke in a calm gruff voice

"to those that want your first mission, go to the second floor"

as those that stayed other than one or two started heading up the nearby stairs me along with them sticking to the crowd though wolf seem to know my exact location, which does not ease my nerves

after a bit as more gain some bravery and go upstairs, as wolf nods at cook, who proceeds to walk out the doors of the building, closing them behind them as wolf look towards us at the second floor, as I think of what to ask cook when I meet them again

as wolf makes a cough and speaks

"Now I'm sure you are all curious about what said mission is "

as they press a button as the top platform lowers showing what I couldn't see yesterday

"this is the first and last time this process will happen so take it in"

as what is shown as it lowers is a thick circular elevator seeminly having claws at its bottom digging into the ground in the middle of the place, and it's doors being clear as they begin opening and while I couldn't tell from a distance how big it was, in front of us, it can clearly move us all at once with no issue

"courtesy of metal, get in the elevator it will send you to the exit of the moving city"

Metal, there one They scratched off their own "eyes" calling them useless, this is one of hers?

despite my doubts they others soon start heading to the elevator as I get pulled over to it by cody aswell, not that tight fit whether it meant this number less than I thought or the elevator is bigger

as soon it rises up and to the side by the ceiling of floor one as the intercom sounds wolf's voice being heard

"now it's been 5 years since you have seen the actual world outside, so you might have thought it recovered"

as the elevator starts reaching one of the walls the blocks the outside

"saddening to say however, it didn't, it got worse, if you look back some of you might remember this as the lake of wishes protected by the peaceful mountain"

the com speaks as a bit of the wall opens letting the elevator through as we see the outside as I couldn't believe my eyes

what was once a buetiful lake is now pure acid and just behind it, the mountain is now seeminly swallowed by a giant nest as we can see spiders crawling around it multiple tunnels through the mountain and the ground all over

I couldn't help but hold my breath, same with near everyone though cody just sighs looking down at the sight, it's just, sad to see as the elevator starts to decend down

this really shows how huge this place is covered in like a blanket of greenery making me wonder how that deals with the acid rain, as we get to the things legs now stopped moving, all 8 are like giant metal columns and if they didn't move one would think they are as they reach the ground as they out an elevator opens for us to get our first mission

and as we get out a compartment in the elevator opens with some weird green containers, as the speaker turning on

"your first mission is simple, just avoid the spiders and use the containers to get the acid, and be sure not to touch it directly, the stuff can burn through even bone"

as we get our containers and look over at the acid lake and the multiple dug out holes to be wary of

I sigh as I stop using the speaker and look at my new paperwork to register every one of those that stayed to give to any of the others as I begin writing

"not much at the start twenty something people, and that kid, agh why do I gotta be so cautious now a days, the result is always more paperwork"

I say knowing why, the moving city, the last bastion of humanity, built out of all of ours mercy, but they hate us still, not like the others are giving themselves help

I just sigh again, maybe I can change the others for the better, or, is that just changing them
