The 48th Experiment

Enyo is the 48th experiment and one of the few that survived. Thanks to the doctors (whom she killed by accident), she's the strongest soldier who worked for the Father, the head of a large underworld group. Enyo has superhuman abilities including regeneration, strength, speed, agility, and all that! She's escaped Father and is trying to live a normal life as a normal teenager. That's kind of hard when making friends means that they're going to get kidnapped and used as bait to lure her to random abandoned buildings... Most of the other experiments want to kill her now. Also, Father wants to study her dead body. And, the only few people who can help her are weak, crippled, or mostly dead. Oh and also most of the fights are very unfair. (2v1 is unfair okay?)

Chapter 5

Enyo looked up at the tall building and saw nothing. She could swear she felt someone watching her. It felt all too familiar. She shrugged and walked, following Max. "So," she said, "schools fun huh?"

Max shrugged, "Stay away from me during school."

"Why's that?" asked Enyo, she was curious.

Max shrugged again, "You might get hurt."

Enyo let out a laugh and patted Max on the back. He flinched slightly. "I can take care of myself," said Enyo, "Don't worry about me, I won't get hurt."

Max shrugged, "Okay."

Enyo smiled, Max didn't show it but he was lonely alone and maybe he was happy that she could be his friend.

They walked for a long time until they reached her house. "Thanks for walking back with me," she smiled.

Max frowned, "You live there?"

Enyo nodded, "Home sweet home!"

"That house has been abandoned for over ten years! Before my family moved into the neighborhood!"

Enyo gave him a sad smile, "This is my parent's old house…"

"Old house?" asked Max, "They don't live here?"

Enyo shrugged, "I have a big family."

The answers she gave her were true but embedded with lies. It was her parent's old house, from when they were alive, but the family she mentioned wasn't her biological family. She barely remembered her real parents. She was talking about the ones that had raised her. The experiments and… dad or boss.

"See you tomorrow," smiled Enyo.

Max shrugged and walked farther down the street to his house. He waved and disappeared.

Enyo suddenly spun around. Out of the corner of her eye, she caught a shadow and frowned, Enyo ran after the shadow who turned and fled. The shadow had no chance to begin with. Thanks to the experiment, she had superhuman speed. "Gotcha!" she shouted and grabbed them.

She pulled the dagger from its sheath and held it under their throat. "Wait!" shouted the shadow.

Enyo released them and put the dagger away. She recognized that voice, "Bat?"

Bat sighed, "Don't kill me, I come in peace."

Enyo glared at him, "What are you doing here? Have you been following me?"

"No! No!" said Bat, "Not me, but Hemlock is."

Enyo stumbled, "What? Hemlock? How did he even know I was here?"

"I…" muttered Bat, "might have told him…"

"What?"

"Well," said Bat, "He gave an irrefutable offer."

Enyo glared at him. "When you're defenseless like me, you need to have good relationships with the stronger people! He offered me indefinite silence and a poison! Oh, also Anaya."

Enyo sighed, "Great."

…

Hemlock watched the students exit the school one by one. Through his binoculars he saw girls and boys, walking out in their perfect uniforms. He rolled his eyes in disgust. Then, there it was!

Enyo walked out with another student, a boy. Hemlock frowned, Enyo was cold and unemotional, yet she was smiling and making friends.

He gritted his teeth, after everything she did, she still thought she deserved to live a normal life.

His eyes tracked her. Then, he snapped a picture of the boy next to her. His hair was black and poofy, sticking straight up. He had olive skin and brown eyes. Looks boring, thought Hemlock, But he makes her smile, so I will punish him!

They walked right and Hemlock followed them from the rooftops. It was tiring to jump from roof to roof but he would do it, for the sake of revenge.

Enyo suddenly looked up and Hemlock ducked out of sight so fast that he tripped over part of the roof and fell off. "Ahhh!" he screamed silently.

Hemlock fell two stories and landed in a dumpster. SQUELCH! The trash bag he landed on burst, covering him in slimy liquids and banana peels. "Ugh!" he muttered.

Then he noticed another shadow, walking towards Enyo, but hiding every time she turned. Hemlock frowned, was that Bat? What was he doing following Enyo?

Hemlock followed closely behind Bat. Enyo's friend left and she ran toward Bat. Hemlock quickly hid, close enough to hear but far enough that Enyo hopefully wouldn't sense her.

"Hemlock…" he heard his name and he turned around. Anaya stood behind him, "Let's go," she whispered, "Before Enyo catches us too."

Hemlock sighed and nodded, "You're probably right."

The two of them turned and ran, unaware of what Bat had just told Enyo.
