The 48th Experiment

Enyo is the 48th experiment and one of the few that survived. Thanks to the doctors (whom she killed by accident), she's the strongest soldier who worked for the Father, the head of a large underworld group. Enyo has superhuman abilities including regeneration, strength, speed, agility, and all that! She's escaped Father and is trying to live a normal life as a normal teenager. That's kind of hard when making friends means that they're going to get kidnapped and used as bait to lure her to random abandoned buildings... Most of the other experiments want to kill her now. Also, Father wants to study her dead body. And, the only few people who can help her are weak, crippled, or mostly dead. Oh and also most of the fights are very unfair. (2v1 is unfair okay?)

Chapter 1

BEEP BEEP! Enyo woke up, startled. She jumped out of bed, still in her PJs and her blanket flying. The dagger under her pillow was in her hand in seconds. She brandished it. With a startled yelp, she dropped the dagger, realizing it was just her alarm clock. She whacked it and it stopped beeping.

She put the dagger back in her sheath and placed it gently on her bedside table. She yawned, her arms stretching upward. Enyo looked in the mirror. Her hair was unruffled and messy. She sighed and started to untangle it with a brush.

Today was her first day of school at Sturt High School. She checked the clock and gasped. School started at 8:40 AM and it was already 8:30! "Shoot," Enyo grabbed her dagger and wrapped it around her thigh. Then, she grabbed her uniform and started changing as she ran down the steps of her home. She ran into the kitchen and yanked open the refrigerator. It was very empty, except for a sandwich. She stuffed it in her mouth.

Enyo grabbed it and ran to the front. Her shoes and backpack were waiting for her. She grabbed her backpack and slung it over her shoulder. Enyo put one of her shoes on and then hopped on one foot out the door. She hopped forward while putting on her other shoe and tying the laces.

"Hey!" someone called out to her, "You a student at Sturt?"

Enyo turned to look at them. The boy was also wearing the Sturt uniform. He was waving at her from behind an open car door. "Come on," he said, "My mom can give you a ride!"

Enyo sighed in relief and ran up to their car. "Thank you so much!" she said as she sat down in the back and closed the door.

"No problem," said the boy. He turned around from the passenger seat to look at her, "You must be new, I'm Max."

"Nice to meet you, I'm Enyo," she said.

"Enyo was the Greek goddess of war and destruction," said the person driving, "I'm Max's mom, you can call me Danya."

"Thank you so much for the ride Miss Danya," thanked Enyo.

"No problem," said Danya, "So how come you transferring into Sturt now? The first semester is almost over."

"Umm…" said Enyo, "My family just moved here."

"Oh?" said Danya, "Where did you come from, where were you before? Did you have a boyfriend?"

Enyo stuttered, "Uh… "

"Mom!" whined Max, "Don't interrogate her!"

"Sorry."

Enyo sighed in relief at not having to answer the questions. They rode in silence, except for the music that was playing from the speaker. "I'm thinking 'bout something I don't need, big car, big house, lots of jewelry…" it sang. (Something I don't need, by E.SO)

"We're here!" said Danya.

Max opened the door and grabbed his backpack. Enyo followed him. "Thank you for the ride," she said to Danya.

"No problem," said Danya, "I hope you and Max become great friends!"

Enyo nodded and followed Max into the school. The school itself was beautiful and expensive. It looked like it was carved from marble. Enyo frowned at the architecture. It was surprisingly like Greek or Roman architecture.

"Bye," muttered Max, who suddenly walked away, leaving Enyo alone.

"Wait!" she called after him. He ignored her and kept walking. She sighed. What was his problem?

Someone tapped her on the shoulder and it took all her willpower not to turn around and flip them over her shoulder. They were high school students… not assassins.

"Hey cutie," said a voice. She turned around and saw a group of boys, "You lost?"

Enyo nodded, "I'm looking for the counselor's office, can you point me in the right direction?" creep.

The head of the group of boys nodded. He smirked and pointed down a hallway. "That way, you're welcome!"

Enyo caught hints of smirks on the rest of the boy's face. Enyo gritted her teeth and kept a smile, "Thank you so much!" she said, "For lying…"

The fake smile on the boy's face changed into a frown. She could tell he was a bully. "What did you say?"

Enyo smiled and turned away from him. She walked in the opposite direction of where the boy had pointed. She had seen his eyes flicker to the right hallway when she had asked. "Are you ignoring me?" asked the boy, his voice full of menace.

She ignored him and kept walking. "How dare you look down on me!" he shouted. His hand curled into a fist and aimed for the back of Enyo's head.
