34 Chapter 34 - Clarke and Anya

Thanks to Raven, who I managed to convince to stay inside the camp after a lot of promises, we got our hands on some homemade walkie-talkies, and who would have thought that we would need them almost as soon as most of the hunting parties returned home?

Unfortunately, Clarke's group didn't come back, and if that wasn't concerning then when we went out to find them, we found Miles, the kid that was on their team lying on the ground with two arrows sticking out of his leg and chest. Miller and Jasper quickly took Miles back to our camp, while the rest of us continue searching for Clarke and Finn, who we believe was taken by the grounders.

Meanwhile in an unknown location, the same grounder woman that had saved Wells was defending Tris, Anya second in command alongside Wells, who was being chained up in a corner of the room. When there was the sound of movements from outside of the collapsed building where Tris was being held, Mara hastily grabbed the dagger she still had strapped to her tight, afraid that someone might attack them or an animal searching for food may have stumbled across their hidden place.

She breathed a sigh of relief, when it was Anya who entered the structure, followed right behind her by two warriors who each dragged Clarke and Finn behind them.

Mara looked behind them confused about what they were doing here, she had hoped that Anya would bring a healer for Tris and lowered her dagger again. She did not need to defend herself from Anya of course, as she was her leader and above all the teacher of the girl she had raised since a young age.

Clarke and Finn were both staring at him with wide eyes, disbelief clear on their faces. Wells, who until now just kept his head down realized that either Murphy had not arrived back at the camp yet or he had not told the others that he now lived with the Trikru. Maybe a little bit of both, or maybe Leon, himself didn't divulge that he was alive at the camp, since he couldn't be sure that he was really alive in the first place, nonetheless, Wells was happy to see two familiar faces after so long.

"You are going to heal her!"

Anya commanded Clarke and pointed to Tris. The girl's pained breathing sounded even more strained now than when she left to catch the healer of the skai people.

"If she dies, so does your boyfriend that's chained up and the one that we caught with you."

Anya used a threatening tone when she reminded Clarke before she stared at the blonde girl for a moment before she let go of Clarke's arm.

Wells could see Clarke gaping at Anya and the blonde argued that she lacked the equipment to be able to offer Tris any help.

"I can't save her empty-handed, Anya. I need proper tools, blood in case she needs a transfusion, and disinfectant."

"I'll give you what I can, but the deal still stands. You save her, and all three of you are free to go. She dies, the boys follow her in death."

Anya ordered one of the warriors to gather what Clarke needed before she turned toward Mara.

"You will stay with them. If they try something kill them."

Like any loyal follower, Mara nodded immediately, not wanting to anger Anya further than she was already.

The others left the building again, probably to search for what Clarke had asked.

"What are you doing here, Wells? We thought you were killed by that little girl. We even found a body that resembled yours in the morning." Clarke directly addresses him when the grounders were out.

"Doesn't matter, Clarke. We will get you out of here, right Finn?"

"Right. Leon said that you may be alive, but after what happened…"

" I heard that you guys blow up a bridge and even fought the Trikru a few times."

"We did what we had to do to survive."

"How many died in this fight? "

"Shut up, both of you. I need to concentrate and I can't do it when you two are talking like two old ladies."

Suddenly, Tris started to gasp loudly and Mara, who was silent until now turned to the healer of the skai people, her blue eyes widening in fright for the girl that was on the table.

"Help her, please."

Mara could only plead with Clarke to save her adopted daughter. Even a blind man could see how bad Tris was wounded, so it was normal for her to realize that Tris' condition was getting worse. The blonde nodded silently and turned to Tris.

"What happened to her?" Clarke asked, looking up at Mara for a split second.

Mara looked at both of them with an accusing stare, before she angrily yelled at them.

"She was on the bridge when you made it explode! Forty warriors died and over fifty of them got injured by your people!"

Finn was helping Clarke to get Tris in a sitting position when Anya and the other two warriors returned. One of them was carrying a bag of sorts and laid it out on the floor and while the tools weren't exactly medical grade tools, they still could be used to save the life of this girl, or at least that's what Clarke hopped.

As soon as the equipment was laid on the ground, Clarke turned toward Anya.

"Why do you think I could help her?" Clarke asked Anya in honest confusion, as she inspected the instruments.

"Lincoln told her" Finn concluded from his place at the sideline before Anya answered.

"He wasn't the only one. I also told her that Clarke could help." Wells added and watched as Clarke put her ear to Tris' back, listening to her breathing.

"Her left lung seems to have collapsed!"

For the first time since she was brought here, Clarke showed a worried expression on her face. Wells drew in a deep breath, as he knew that no matter what Clarke does, her abilities wouldn't be enough to save Tris' life from that kind of injury. Maybe only on the Ark could this girl be saved, but then again, no one knows for sure.

Clarke looked through the bag the others had brought and made a cut in Tris' side from which blood immediately ran fast.

As soon as she did that, Anya came closer to investigate and snarled at Clarke for what she had done. "What have you done?! I told you to save her, not to bleed her!"

Clarke tried to explain to the woman that Tris could not breathe, because of the blood in her lung but when Anya shoved Clarke away from Tris, Finn tried to intervene, and a few seconds later both lay on their backs with swords drawn to their throats, ready to end their lives if their leader desires so.

Wells tried to calm the situation down because he remembered Clarke's mother doing something similar to a friend of his father when his lungs were full of blood. It had helped the man for some time and he deeply wished that it would now help Tris as well, he did not wish to see the girl that taught him her language die in such a painful way.

Anya and the warriors looked doubtful, but they decided to wait and then judge Tris' condition. The girl's breathing did not sound anything like how it was for a few minutes, but despite that, she was still unconscious. Not only Clarke but even Finn and Wells had started to worry about all the blood the girl had already lost. The waiting with nothing to do was proving to be the worst thing ever for Clarke. She would have liked to step closer to Anya to help the girl, but those grounders knew nothing about how to treat the wounds properly. Sooner or later the girl will die and she will not be able to do anything at that point.

When Anya put her hand on Tris' forehead, she found it burning.

"She's dying for god's sake! Let me save her!"

"That is the way we train them to become warriors. We are nothing like you skai people."

"So that the killing can continue easily forever!" Clarke shouted in anger as Anya took a threatening step closer to the blonde girl

"You blew up the bridge, you did this. Who told you to fight back? Your people should have just accepted their death, but no! You had to blow the bridge killing more than forty of my people and injuring even more than that!"

Clarke told Anya that the only option to save Tris was to give her clean blood. When Clarke asked Anya for her blood, a warrior stepped in and declined immediately, all three warriors seemed set against even the idea of the concept. Wells knew from Nyko that the survivors on the ground did not use any blood transfusions anymore and the concept was alien to them, but right now this may just be the best chance to save Tris.

"Take mine, Clarke. Show them that we aren't their enemy. Save the girl."

Wells offered from the side. He would do what he could to save the other girl and standing beside doing nothing wasn't going to save her and Clarke. Even now, it was already taking way too long for Clarke to do something again to try and help Tris who was obviously suffering, breaths rattling and sweat glistening on her face. If she postpone the treatment any longer, the girl would die without a doubt, and with her, all three of them.

Clarke took a syringe and draw blood from Wells then slowly injected it into the girl's body. Minute by Minute passed and the girl labored breath was slowly being changed into a more normal one, and after half an hour of painfully being injected with fresh blood, the infection that was growing in her blood, was successfully taken care of.

After Tris got bandaged by Clarke, Anya ordered one of the guards to take her away, alongside Mara, who just stood there watching the whole thing from the start with a thoughtful look on her face.

"Kill the boys, but let her alive, we can find some uses for her."
