Hiruzen announced that he was retiring from the hokage seat, he also forbade Danzo from being the next hokage because he didn't help konoha during the invasion
He what an idiot, lost his golden opportunity!
He appointed Jiraya as the next hokage, and Jiraya's reaction was:
"But I refuse!"
"What, why?" Hiruzen asked perplexed
"Because I like to say no to strong people!" Jiraya answered as he walked away
Hiruzen, defeated sighed
"Sigh... it seems that I can only sent him after Tsunade... maybe he could convince her? that would also give him time to train Naruto, now that they are together" Hiruzen decided, ignoring the fact that he should send Jiraya and a elite team after Orochimaru instead...

Kaede obviously found out about this, and decided to go as well
"And why would you go with us?" Jiraya asked, still sore about her previous comment
"Because the last time I saw you alone with Naruto you were doing unspeakable things to him, so I will keep an eye on that!" Kaede said in a righteous tone
"..." Jiraya was left speechless, once again, he became to bad guy of the history...
but anyway, as it turns out, Kaede ended up in the Tsunade search mission
A simple trick she found very useful for this exact situation was:
Since Tsunade wasn't hiding her whereabouts, only changing it constantly the [All of creation] part of [Great sage] found her, and Kaede used some subtle genjutsus to make the team go towards her, as she noticed that they were going in a wrong direction
'Butterfly effect? or did it really take longer than the anime showed? there is no way for me to know...'
Before leaving, Kaede received a visit from Shizue, unexpected for her, really
"Shizu? what you doing here?" She asked
"I came to say goodbye, since you are going away and all" Shizue said, with a serious face behind her mask
"Seesh, it isn't like I won't come back, is it?" Kaede asked, in her opinion Shizue was being too dramatic
"Exactly because of that..." Shizue answered immediately, stunning Kaede for a second
'How...? is she here to stop me?' She asked herself but didn't show it outwardly
"That is why I came to say goodbye Kaede-chan, I know it has been hard for you, staying at the village with what happened here and on the 'other place'" She said, a sad glint passing in her eyes as well
"Other place?" Kaede askes confused, it was alright for Shizue to assume she would go away because of the 'bad experiences' she had in konoha, but... Other place?
"The place you lived before appearing on this world-" Shizue didn't finish her sentence as immediately Kaede flickered behind her and kicked her
"How do you know that?!" She asked, not bothering to hide her surprise, if Shizue knew anything she could be in grave danger right now
Kaede's kick passed through Shizue who turned into fire, like what Ace could do
'What the...? is this some sort of skill?' Kaede asked mentality while preparing to use some skills to fight
"Stop Kaede, I am not here to fight or stop you..." Shizue said, as she turned to Kaede
"...And I am supposed to believe that?" Kaede asked
"sigh... I also am from the 'other place' you know...
also, during the short time Minato was the hokage I was the second in command of tbe anbu, I have my ways with information, I know what happened that night
You can hide it however you want, but I can see through you facade, Kaede...
that is why I won't stop you... but, I ask you only one thing..."
"...What is it?" Kaede asked back, still on guard
"it is..."

Kaede, in front of Konoha's gates left the village with Naruto and Jiraya
"What did Shizu-sensei want to talk with you Kaede-chan?" Naruto asked in curiosity
"Nothing important, she just told me to be careful about this white haired pervert there" Kaede said while pointing to Jiraya, who only got more and more annoyed by this
'...this brat... that stupid fiery brat, she also told the brat such thing... *mumbled insults*' Jiraya thought in annoyance
"Really?" Naruto asked, also turning to look at Jiraya, who in turn got even more annoyed
'All according to the plan...
