In a world filled with uncaring Gods and oblivious mortals, Damon is on a quest for revenge. After his entire life was upended by a callous God, he has been searching for the power he needs to save his friends. Will his new godly powers be able to help him resist the tides of fate, or will he be swept away? Thanks for taking the time to read the synopsis. I’m a new writer and so I’d like to hear any feedback from you guys. My upload schedule also might be spotty since I have exams and AP tests coming up but I will do my best to keep it to around one chapter a day. I hope you enjoy. I do not own this cover art. If the owner wishes for me to take it down, please contact me. I plan to upload chapters at 21:00 UTC. I’m still trying to work with the weird time zone conversion so it may vary.

Revenge

Damon awoke to a massive headache that assaulted his mind like a never-ending storm.

But the true shock to his mind came when he opened his eyes.

Damon thought himself to be mad as he saw swirling paths of golden energy pass him by. He also identified many shapes of creatures outlined in white. His eyesight had also vastly improved as he could even see the squirrels on distant trees.

'Is this the result of the energy convergence that happened before I blacked out?' Damon questioned. 'Where did that surge of energy even come from? Especially since I was completely drained of divine essence.'

'That energy came from your astral body in the spiritual realm. Your soul generally has energy saved up in order to defend itself from threats in the spiritual realm. Since your life was in danger, however, it used that energy to save you. This had the unintended effect of awakening your soul since so much energy flowed through it at once. You were very lucky that you weren't fully conscious during the ordeal, or else you would've went mad.'

Damon shivered as he thought of those horrible visions that plagued him during the awakening.

Even worse than that, no thank you.

Shaking his head, Damon decided to use this blessing in order to get revenge.

He had certainly not forgotten the pain that the seagull had inflicted him.

Focusing on his newfound vision, Damon surveyed the area and soon found an anomaly. A red and three-headed figure was resting on a tree some ways away.

"Time for revenge!" Damon exclaimed as he activated his blue flame.

Slowly approaching the tree, Damon created some new weapons. He first essence to make an accessory that could hold his javelins. The bag would use a strap that would stretch over his body in order to stay on.

He focused on making 5 javelins. Unfortunately for the seagull, however, Damon made the javelins barbed in order to cause the most possible damage.

He then created a massive greatsword and a strap to hold it on.

Placing the greatsword and javelin bag onto their straps on his back, Damon created a set of armor. This armor was red and looked like that of a demon. It's helmet completely hid his face and ended in an red circlet adorning his head.

Suiting up on a nearby tree branch, Damon was ready for war.

'I'll draw it in by using my javelins and then cut it down with the greatsword.' He planned as he flew up towards the seagull.

Activating his thrusters as he neared the branch, Damon launched towards the top of the tree.

The seagull, hearing this, immediately took off and relocated above the canopy. As it flapped higher, it's eyes searched for the disturbance.

BOOM

The seagull heard a massive boom as a being cloaked in red emerged from the canopy. Feeling the energy emitted from the red thing, the seagull immediately prepared for an intense battle.

Damon saw the seagull gather wind and rapidly flap it's wings. Sensing danger, however, Damon immediately started the battle as he prepared a javelin.

WHOOSH

A giant barbed javelin, boosted by the wind, rocketed towards the seagull.

The seagull, however, used it's gathered wind in order to quickly dodge out of the way.

BOOM

Taking advantage of the accumulated wind, the seagull dashed towards Damon. It's eyes burned as it prepared to tear the red demon limb from limb.

Damon, though, was a step ahead as he had already switched to his greatsword and prepared his thrusters for another massive burst.

ZOOM

Damon rocketed forward towards the beast as he prepared his greatsword to strike.

Just as they were about to meet, however, Damon once again ignited his boosters and dashed up.

The seagull was immensely confused as it had only seen a flash of blue before it's opponent disappeared.

SPLICE

Two halves of the seagull began to fall as a red demon stood triumphantly above.

'These physical upgrades are so good. I can make such fast and dangerous maneuvers without much of a sweat.' Damon thought as he celebrated.

He had abused his new body's durability in order to make quick maneuvers that the seagull could never have dodged. Although the disruption of momentum immensely burdened his body, Damon was able to position himself above the seagull and used it's speed against it.

It couldn't control it's movements without breaking it's own wings due to the immense momentum and speed it had accumulated. This allowed Damon to outmaneuver it and cut it into pieces with two swift bursts of fire.

With his revenge over, Damon decided to investigate the body of his fallen foe in order to see what he could salvage.

Damon flew down and saw a few small beasts attempting to eat the carcass.

With a snort, Damon shot out three arrows of fire. This left each scavenger incinerated on the floor of the undergrowth.

Damon focused back on the beast and felt a familiar tug. It was a similar feeling to the instinctual absorption of universal energy. Following this urge, Damon treated the body as if it was universal energy as he gathered it in a vortex of blood and bone.

WHOOSH

Within an instant, the remains gathered in his core. Inspecting his core, Damon saw them float above his remaining drops of divine essence.

Damon was confused as he inspected them. 'Aren't they going to be converted into divine essence?'

His core, however, seemed to think otherwise as the remains shot out into his body and were quickly melding into his flesh.

"Ahhhhhh!" Damon screamed as he felt the remains meld into his flesh. Like carnivorous worms, they drilled into his tissue. As they settled, the remains let out a golden light.

Damon felt a brief calm respite before...

SHING

The golden light spread outwards and completely eviscerated all of his flesh that surrounded the remains. At the barrier of the golden light, a red light rebounded and filled the void with new flesh, blessed with greater strength.

Pain wracked Damon's body as he struggled to avoid falling to his knees. The sudden onslaught of pain had caught him unawares and he was still trying to regain his bearings when a great strength filled his bones. His body had been eviscerated in an instant and healed in the next.

Breathing heavily, Damon stood up and collected himself.

"You didn't say that it would hurt this badly, you bastard." Damon said resentfully.

James began laughing. 'Everything has a price in the world. The amazing improvements from the berserk energy cost divine essence and generate a lot of pain. You'll get used to it anyway.'

Shaking his head, Damon decided to go home and explore.

Thanks for reading the chapter everyone. We further explored Damon's powers, ability to improve, and how the systems of power work. I'm still getting used to writing combat so please leave me any criticism you have. Have a good day.
