Chapter 12: Week Four: Thursday-Saturday

In the middle of the room sat a lantern giving out a dim light. The windows of the apartment were all covered, an attempt at stopping the minimal amount of light from being seen from the outside. Surrounding the lantern were five people of various ages and backgrounds eating their dinner for the night. Some made small talk amongst themselves, while the rest were silent. Until one spoke up with a louder than usual whisper, bringing the other's attention to himself.

"I'm sure you already know what I'm about to bring up. It's about the other survivors we met today, Zach and Jason. Personally I want to bring them into the fold and join us. Not only because I believe them to be great additions, but becausd it is the right thing to do. But I know I can't just make a crucial decision like that without consulting the rest of you. So let's take a vote on it, should we let them in or not?"

Tyrone looked around the group and waited patiently for one of them to speak up. He truly hoped they would agree with him, but he could understand if they thought otherwise. The first to answer him was Kevin.

"I'm in favor of them joining. We could use all the help we could get. And if they really are alone, they must be strong to have survived thus far."

He gave Tyrone a light smile along with a nod. Tyrone did the same and turned his attention towards Bill.

"Hell no. Like I said, don't know what kinda crazies they are. I've met my fair share of 'good' men suddenly turn into the most evil, vile sons of bitches that would make the devil shit himself. We got a decent thing goin now, why take the damn risk by inviting them in? What if they slit our throats in our sleep?"

He had already expected Bill's response, so Tyrone wasn't shocked. He looked at Lily, waiting for her to answer. She took a few seconds before finally responding.

"After thinking about it, I really don't know. I don't want them to join because of what happened with Tom. But what if them joining can save one of us in the future? What if they are evil bastards like Bill said? It doesn't feel right, just leaving them alone. What if they die because of us?"

She glanced at Alice who was picking at her food before continuing.

"Still, I don't think we should take the risk."

Tyrone thought about what she said for a little. She did make some good points. Was he really wrong? Should he just leave the to their fates? His conscience said otherwise.

"I see. Alice? What about you?"

Before she could get a word in, Lily interrupted.

"What about her? She doesn't get a vote on this!"

"Why not?! I can speak for myself! Am I not apart of this group the same as you?!"

"You're still a kid! You don't-"

*RAAAAHHHHH*

A sudden roar quieted their argument. The group was stunned for a few seconds, before Bill quickly turned the lantern off. Everyone held their breath and prayed that the thing outside wouldn't find it's way inside.

Alice hugged her sister with tears starting to form in her eyes. Seeing this, Lily began rubbing her back to try and calm her down.

Bill got to his feet and tip toed his way to the window. Pulling the curtain back slightly, just enough to get an eye through, he peered down into the streets below. He gestured for the rest to join, but only Tyrone and Kevin came.

Down in the streets they could see those monstrous creatures. Three of them in total were standing around as their heads turned every which way. The group looked on silently, trying their hardest to not make a single peep. Suddenly, one of the monsters roared and ran to a building on the opposite side of the street, the others following behind quickly.

Within no time at all, they ran to the building and climbed it effortlessly. After scaling a good portion of the building, they smashed a window and rushed inside. That was when Bill made a silent comment, just barely audible.

"What in the hell. Where are they goi-"

"AHHHHHHHHH! PLEASE GOD NO!"

He was interrupted by an awful scream that suddenly penetrated through the silent night.

Alice suddenly started crying and held her own mouth with her hand to try and silence herself. As for Lily, she brushed her hair with one hand and whispered into her ear about how everything was going to be okay.

As for the other's, they saw one of the windows shatter as a heavy humanoid object came flying out. The monsters followed from the building and rushed towards the person laying motionless on the street.

Upon reaching him they started ripping him apart. Grabbing his arms and legs, tearing them off as they consumed him. Blood was gushing everywhere into the street, even moreso when one tore his head off and started drinking it like it was a delicacy.

The other two started fighting amongst themselves for the rest of his body. The more the people watching had their eyes adjust to the dark, the more their spirit dwindled. Fighting them was a death sentence. Especially when one easily tore off a nearby car door like it was nothing and threw it to the other one, only for it to not even scratch it. When they weren't fighting, they would rip his entrails out and play with them before eating it like spaghetti.

After the three were finished with the body by grinding his bones into dust, they headed off to parts unknown. Presumably to find more victims. Bill, Tyrone, and Kevin left the window and returned to their seats shell-shocked. Even during his days in the army, Bill could count on one hand the scenes that could rival what he just witnessed.

This was going to be a sleepless night.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Woke up pretty late in the morning because of a certain someone getting his guts rearranged by those Night Crawlers. I like the name, but it somehow feels more appropriate to call them Night Hunters instead given last night. Which is what I'll do. Pretty badass name, not to toot my own horn or anything.

After our morning workout and breakfast of champions, I began training my knife throwing while leaving Zach to his own devices. My skill was certainly improving, but not as much as I'd like. Maybe it's the lack of a moving target. Nothing can be done about that now though.

So I began moving on to more important things. Like boarding up the windows and the balcony in my room. Seeing those Night Hunters climb like that means they can easily get inside my place as well. Strange thing to me is, why did they suddenly rush for that guy? There was no light on or anything. Maybe he made a noise that drew their attention?

Anyway, I fetched a bunch of nails along with some wooden furniture and began boarding up everything I could think of. Luckily, one of these bastards had a saw in his place which made the process easier. The whole carpentry thing took a few hours, but by the end I was mostly satisfied with my incredible amazing work.

Wanted to show Zach and gain some praise, but he was nowhere to be found. Where the fuck is he?

-------------------------------------------‐----------------------------------------

He never got any sleep last night. The horrifying screams from that man kept ringing inside his mind, keeping him awake. He hated this. This new reality he suddenly found himself thrusted into without any warning. He thought he was lucky to find Jason. Without him Zach would have died of starvation, or... worse.

When done with the morning workout he hated to do but was forced nonetheless, he was just going to go back to his room when he stopped himself halfway. Turning around, he headed back towards Jason's room to 'borrow' the flashlight.

He came upon the door, using the wall to block his body while his head peeked inside. There he could see that mountain of a man throwing knives into a wall, failing to get the knife stuck in the wall. Whenever he did manage to do it, a smile bloomed across his face like a little kid that just won a golden ticket to a chocolate factory occupied by midget sized orange mutants.

Looking around the apartment he found his ultimate prize laying motionlessly on the kitchen counter. If he wanted to take it without getting caught, he needed to wait for Jason to move. And thus he stood there patiently, for around 20 minutes.

He found his chance when Jason halted his knife throwing activity and walked over to the balcony to overlook the street below. It was now or never. He silently creeped into the apartment, moving slowly as to not make even a single peep.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Zach reached his goal. Just as he picked he up, he heard Jason speak to himself.

"Where art thou, Knight Usain Bolter. I gazed upon you once, and my heart was stolen. Why did you run from me? Because of him? That fucking bastard of a Meatball?!"

His right arm gripped onto the railing, the muscles on his arm pulsing and rippling with strength. As he continued speaking, he pulled on the railing towards himself. Making the metal creak and bend ever so slightly.

"That bastard! I'll wring his neck! Then I'll feed him to you! You'd like that, wouldn't you?"

Zach gulped silently and felt a shiver run across his back as if trying to escape the madman before him. When his neck started tingling, that's when he made the executive decision to get the fuck out of there. As he made his way out, he heard Jason one last time.

"What? The fuck am I saying? Am I going insane? ...Nah. If anything, everyone else is crazy and I'm the only sane one around. Must be the case."

'That was terrifying, but I really am becoming a criminal at this rate.' Zach though to himself as a wry smile appeared on his face.

After playing real life Thief for a moment, he went to his room to pick something up before going down the hallway to the spooky and smelly stairwell. When Zach opened the door to that dark place, he hesitated. Never before had he moved alone like this, always staying behind Jason as he did everything. Always following his direction and orders.

But he wanted to change. Become his own man instead of just being Jason's sidekick. With newfound confidence he walked boldly into the dark and shut the door behind him. Quickly, he turned the flashlight on and started regretting it. Yet he kept going.

"No pain, no gain. I think."

His voice echoed throughout the silent darkness, bouncing between the walls and amplifying his fear. Thus he went quickly up the stairs, desperate to get started on what he came here for and forget everything else. Within no time at all, he reached his target. The locked gate.

"Alright. Let's get started!"

He slapped his face a few times like a Japanese main character before getting to work. As he tried to pick the lock, he began thinking to himself on why the landlord got this. This lock was very expensive being around $2000. Was it really so important to lock the roof? Now Zach was curious. What was up here? Some secret altar for Cthulhu? A serial killer's workshop?

Little thoughts like this were the main contributioners in keeping his fear at bay. Few hours later, he finally stopped as his fingers were dying for rest.

'I think I'm close to breaking through this!' He thought with pride written all over his face.

He made his way down the stairs in a happier mood than when he entered. That happy mood turned into dread fast, when he heard footsteps coming up the stairs. His breath got caught in his throat, and his hands holding the flashlight began to tremble. Hurriedly shutting off the flashlight, he stood there like a deer in headlights. Frozen with fear.

The footsteps were coming closer and closer. He could hear his heart pounding in his chest and the hair on his arms stand up as if he were a cat. Then... the fear faded away as he heard voices. Familiar voices.

"You sure we should be doing this? God, this fucking smell."

"Relax~ I'm sure it'll work out in our favor, maybe."

"Feels like your playing fast and loose. I just hope you know what you're doing."

Zach could finally see them, their silhouettes at least. They were holding a flashlight to guide their way. He hurriedly turned on his flashlight and went to meet them. When hearing him, they stopped and pointed the flashlight towards the noise.

"Zach?"

Tyrone was the first to speak up, clearly shocked at seeing him.

"U-Uh hey! W-What're you two doing here." As he spoke, his eyes kept glancing towards Lily. Unlike last time, the two of them picked up this behavior.

Tyrone gazed strangely at him as he responded back.

"We had a little talk last night, and after what happened with that unfortunate man, we came to the decision to ask you once again to join us. Need to stick together during these crazy days."

"Yeah last night was just awful. But I-I don't really think I can make a decision. We'll need to ask Jason. I mean I'm all for it and everything, but he probably won't be."

Lily spoke up instead of Tyrone, gathering Zach's attention immediately.

"And the the rest of your group?"

"O-Oh u-uh... Th-There's only u-us two. But y-you don't have to wo-worry! Jason's super strong! I just sat back and took advantage of his kindness."

Towards the end he turned his head to the ground and spoke both without stuttering, with sadness mixed in.

"I see. Shall we go inside and speak to him?" Tyrone asked while walking towards the door, ready to open it.

"N-No! I think it'll be better if I... soften him up first. Like butter. I'll try and make him see reason."

"Alright then. Oh by the way. What were you doing up there all alone?"

"O-Oh you know... Trying to pick that stupid lock on the gate."

"Gate? You mean... to the roof? You can pick locks?"

"Yeah! It's a little skill I picked up from g-games you know... A-Anyway I should probably-"

*BAM*

The door was flung open from some powerful force, smacking it against the wall and startling the trio. Standing in the doorway was Jason, with a less than pleased look.

"What's goin on here? Betrayal? Colluding amongst each other? Go on. Answer me."

Tyrone wanted to speak up, but when he looked him in the eyes he hesitated. He had seen those eyes only once before, but they left a shadow in his heart that remained to this day.

'Those... are not the eyes of a sane man.'

Tyrone suddenly felt that maybe it wasn't such a good idea to bring him into the group. As for Lily, nobody saw her hands reach for her gun. She was definitely nervous, being in such close proximity. Before anything happened however, Zach spoke up.

"What? Betrayal? No no no! We were just talking. They wanted us to join their group... and, I-I think we should join them!"

It had taken a fair bit of his strength to bring this up. He knew Jason wasn't fond of this idea, but Zach believed it to be the best option. He was already imagining the punishment that would come from going against him like this...

"Where were you all this time? I see you've got my flashlight. Stolen from right underneath nose. Quite the little thief now, aren't you?"

"Oh! I was working on the lock attached to the gate! I've made some great progress! Might be able to break it open tomorrow or Sunday! Sorry about the flashlight, and not telling you."

Both Tyrone and Lily relaxed, as they saw Jason finally smile and loosen his tightened fists.

"Whatever. You better have that lock open Sunday, or I'll whoop your ass."

"Sir yes sir!"

"As for the two of you..."

He was thinking real hard. Should he join them? He didn't trust them, not as much as Zach. But then again, they haven't done anything to make him hate them. And there is strength in numbers. As much as he hates to admit it, he can't just go it alone. Not yet at least...

"Oh fuck it. We'll join."

"That's... great. Wanna come down and meet the rest of the gang?"

"Sure. Let me grab my weapons first. No way am I going down there naked."

Zach was excited evident from the smile plastered onto his face. He thought that things were finally looking up. He was certainly excited not only because of the increase in saftey, but also... to spend more time with Lily.

'Hehe I wonder if-'

*SMACK*

An unknown object suddenly struck him in the back of the head, making it sting in pain. Before he even turned around, he already knew who the suspect was.

"Oww! What was that for!"

"That was for telling them about my lie! And this-"

*SMACK*

"Is for stealing my fucking flashlight! Steal something from me again and I'll break your fingers you fatass thief! Though I must admit, you are surprisingly becoming a good criminal."

With that, he went back from whence he came to gather his gear. Tyrone was initially worried about Jason, given what just happened. But from the funny little scene in front of him, he thinks it'll work out fine and dandy. Maybe.

When Jason returned outfitted with his gun, hammer, and cardboard armor, he found Zach making small talk with Tyrone and Lily. From first glance he could see that Zach had a little crush on the blond bombshell. He could definitely see why. Lily was the first one to see him, and question him.

"What's that?"

"Armor I made out of cardboard and duct tape."

"Does it work?"

"Of course it works! Just haven't, you know, field tested it yet. But I'm sure it works perfectly!"

"Mnhm, I'm sure it does..."

"Whatever. Let's just go."

On the way does to the second floor, Jason was a little bummed out after his conversation with Lily. He kept questioning his armor, suddenly feeling stupid. But until proven otherwise, he'll keep the armor on.

When Zach and Jason arrived, the first thing they noticed was both the lack of blood and closed doors. It was odd to them, seeing as they have neglected their own hallway.

"Zach, can you give us a hand with these locked doors? There's these ones and the third floor as well. As for the first, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it..."

"Yes! I'll do my best!"

Zach felt a jolt of giddiness shoot through his body. This feeling of being depended on for something made him feel great! It was different then with Jason. Never really felt like he depended on him, not that it was a bad thing.

Tyrone and Lily brought them to Bill's apartment where everyone was currently staying. Bill had made his displeasure known about them always staying in HIS apartment, but it had fallen upon deaf ears and he eventually gave up. Kevin, Bill, and Alice were doing various tasks when they halted as soon as they saw the newcomers. Tyrone was the first to speak up.

"Everyone, this is Jason and Zach. They've decided to join us starting today!"

"Disaster in waiting." Bill shook his head as he mumbled to himself and went back to fixing the radio.

"Hey. We already met before but let me reintroduce myself. I'm Kevin. The grumpy old man back there is Bill, don't mind him."

Alice didn't say anything but instead whispered to Lily who had come beside her.

"I thought you said one of them was good looking? Well, maybe that one isn't so bad..."

"Shh! Shut the fuck up you little shit!"

"And that one over there is Alice, Lily's sister."

As Alice and Lily were bickering, Tyrone introduced her instead.

"N-Nice to me-meet you all!"

"Yup, great to meet you." As for the unenthusiastic Jason, he was looking all over the place. Eventually setting his eyes upon the enormous amount of food.

"Holy mother of Christ! You guys have so much food!"

"Yeah. Thank the 'old' man over there. Even before the apocalypse he was stocked up to the gills in all kinds of shit."

He suddenly brought his mouth closer, whispering so only Jason and Zach could hear.

"He's always thinkin that commies are out to get him. Thinks they're the ones who started the damn zombie apocalypse. That this is some attack against the U.S."

"I heard that... It's true you know. Those damn commies! Evil bastards the lot of them! Not surprised they came up with this vile method. Hmph, that's just like them."

Tyrone sighed in relief, that Bill didn't go on one of his long rants into why the commies were responsible for all the world's problems and so forth.

"It's gettin late. Do y'all want to eat dinner with us tonight?"

Before Jason could decline, Zach beat him to the punch.

"Sure! We'd love to!"

He could practically feel the hole in the back of his head from Jason's glare. When they were all sat down and getting ready to eat their MREs, someone asked a question.

"Wait, you can heat these up?" Jason asked with a bewildered face.

"You been eaten them cold? Dumbass."

Soon, everyone had food in hand as the majority of the group talked to one another other. The only one's staying quiet being Bill and Jason. Zach was trying his hardest to make inroads with Lily, but was going nowhere fast. And clearly not understanding she wasn't interested.

A couple minutes in Jason suddenly got up and left the apartment, with Tyrone trailing behind him.

"Something wrong?"

"Just going for a little walk. That not allowed?"

"Of course it is, just making sure you're okay. I've noticed, you're not really connecting with the group is all."

"These things take time I guess. By the way, I got a question for you."

"Shoot."

"What's with the first floor? Noticed you being all weird about it."

"Well, to start with, Kevin's from the first floor. He said it was so jam packed you couldn't move without bumpin shoulders with someone. Said there were so many bodies it was impossible to tell who was infected and who wasn't, even with the bloody eyes.

We went down there ourselves just a little ways back and didn't make it past the door. They were all over the lobby and hallways, so we decided to barricade the door."

"I have a feeling that's going to be a problem in the future. How many were there?"

"From what could be seen, around 12 maybe. They could've moved on, but who knows."

Jason knew he couldn't take on that many. He was confident with one or two, maybe even three, but 12? No possible way he comes out of that without at least getting a few bites. Most likely to be ripped to shreds. And who knows how these people handle themselves up close and personal.

"We can think on it later. Maybe we can lure them out by throwing something out the window? Or maybe take them in the stairwell?"

"I truly do not know. Let's leave it for a later day. You comin back?"

"No, I'm going to sleep."

He walked slowly back to his room, thinking about his choice in joining this group. They didn't seem like bad people, but you never truly know what darkness lies deep in someone's heart.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Can you hurry up? What the fuck is wrong with you?"

Jason stood impatiently behind Zach, who fumbled his hands occasionally.

"Stayed up real late last night. Then when I did want to go to sleep, I couldn't walk back to my room in the dark alone so I stayed down here. There was also the workout this morning that drained my batteries even moreso."

*CLICK*

"Finally, out of the way."

Jason pushed his was past Zach and barged inside. Tyrone had already told them there was nothing within, but Jason was still on alert just incase. He didn't want another situation with the hell born kitty.

His fears were unnecessary as the apartment was empty. It's occupant had fled through the window, seeking his freedom. Unlike most of the other locked apartments, this one actually contained some food and water.

"Is this... my luck finally turning around? Lady Luck? I always knew you loved me most!"

His smile was a rare sight to Zach. He had seen Jason smile before, but this one seemed to contain a little more joy than usual. However, that smile soon turned upside down when they searched the other three apartments. Empty.

"Of course... Let's just go to the third floor."

The duo were about to go up the stairwell, when someone called out from behind them.

"Wait for me!"

Kevin was jogging from down the hallway towards them.

"It just gets better and better."

Jason, clearly not thrilled with the new addition, pushed the door open and started walking up the stairs. Zach waited for Kevin before they both chased after him. When arriving to the third floor, Zach got to work fast while Kevin made some conversation.

"I had been up here once before with Tyrone. Last time, I heard some noise coming from one of the apartments. Not sure what's in there, but it's not human."

"We'll deal with it when we come to it. Probably not even there anymore."

The third floors adventure was no different from the second. They gained food and water, with not much else to write home about.

"I can't believe not one of these assholes have a gun. Is this not America? 10 school shootings a day, mass shootings becoming a weekly thing, and yet not one gun? Please, Lady Luck, give your follower some jaw dropping prize to reward him for his service."

After his prayer, he nodded to Zach and ignored Kevin who looked at him like he wasn't sane. Clearly a heathen.

The final door was finally unlocked, and Jason opened it slowly. The Gods smiled upon them, giving their blessing in the form of a functional door. Peeking inside, Jason could see a ruined apartment far worse than any other. The furniture was either broken, or tossed around. Blood was all across the floor and wall. The owner of said blood was currently a decomposing corpse slumped against a wall with a missing arm.

He couldn't find any other infected, or the missing arm, so he walked inside with the other two behind him. Both reacted in the exact same way.

"Ugh!"

"God!"

Jason ignored the two of them and went searching for anything of use, only to find a bunch of moldy food.

"Jason, come look at this."

When he turned around, he saw Kevin pointing to the bedroom door. Written on the door were words, painted with blood.

'I'm sorry Max for not protecting you, for not giving you mercy. To any who read this, don't go inside!'

"Should we leave?" Kevin asked with a somewhat hopeful expression. He didn't believe any normal person would walk inside of there, even if they were of the curious sort. That's when he noticed Zach looking at him with an... odd look.

"Of course not! Stop being a pussy and get ready to rumble."

His hopes dashed towards the sun like Icarus, thus he accepted his fate. Jason decided to go fast and furious and shove the door open hard! What they saw, stunned everyone. Ignoring the blood, trashed room, and dismembered arm on the floor, in the middle of the room sat a cage. And inside the cage, was a huge dog.

As soon as the dog saw them, it started barking with some demonic voice and rushing into the cage. From what they could see, the cage was bent but still holding strong. Kevin slowly walked towards it with a sad expression on his face and his crowbar ready.

"We should... put him out of his misery. I'm sorry, little one."

Before he could get any closer, he felt a hand on his shoulder and felt the world spin. He was thrown across the room and landed heavily onto the floor with a slightly pained look.

"What the-"

"Don't you dare touch this beautiful creature you awful monster! Can't you see he is in desperate need of guidance and love! You heartless fucker!"

Jason suddenly brought his hands into prayer.

"Thank you Oh Lady Luck for this massive fortune! I knew you loved me deep in your heart! I will forever be a friend to you for this!"

Kevin was shocked for two reasons. One, the insane blabbering coming from the clearly unstable man in front of him. And two, how easily he was thrown across the room. With one hand. He came to his senses when an outreached chubby hand came to his rescue.

"A-Are you okay?"

"I'm fine. Thanks Zach. Jason, what the hell are you talking about? We need to kill it, it's dangerous to keep around!"

"Dangerous? What nonsense. I know how to handle this bad boy, I'm gonna tame this thing! Hehe..."

Kevin was about to speak further when Zach interrupted him by placing a hand on his shoulder and shaking his head.

"Don't worry. I'll keep him? Her? In my room. It'll be fine cupcakes."

"But... hah. Whatever. I'm going back down, you coming Zach?"

"Um. I'll stay."

While Kevin left, Jason didn't even notice as he was too concerned with inspecting his brand new pet. From a... 'closer' look, it was a she. She had beautiful black hair that was blemished with dirt, clearly in need of a bath.

Her foaming mouth contained extremely sharp teeth that seemed to be able to rip apart space and time, but certainly not that sharp if she couldn't bite through the cage. The claws she had were the same as her fangs. It was impossible to tell what breed she was, but she was definitely larger than before as she barely fit in the cage. Her height was high enough to reach Jason's stomach, without being on her hind legs.

"Are you sure about this Jason? This seems really dangerous."

"Of course I'm sure. Isn't she amazing?! Imagine the killing machine she could be!"

He suddenly started laughing in a crazed way, making Zach worried for him. Though, in a strange way, he was also happy for his friend as this was the happiest he ever saw him.

"So, what will you name her? The same one or something different?"

Without missing a beat, Jason answered him.

"Killgore!"

"Haha. What a... great name."

Jason chose to ignore him and started speaking to the newly named Killgore.

"You're hungry aren't you girl? That's why you ripped off the arm of that useless piece of shit out there right? Here you go now, eat up."

With Zach watching on in horror, Jason picked up the nasty maggot arm with a happy smile on his face and threw it into the cage. Immediately, Killgore stopped her constant banging and demonic barking to eat the minimal flesh on her newly gained arm.

"That's a good girl."

Jason stuck his hand inside the cage and was able to pet her fur slightly, before bringing his arm back as Killgore snapped towards it.

"Ooh fiesty one isn't she! Your gonna have to be faster than that to catch me little girl. Let's go home, Killgore."

He grabbed the handle on top of the cage and grunted as he lifted it up, startling Killgore into a new frenzy of barking.

"Do you need any help?"

"No. You're too weak to lift this. If you wanna help, grab the body."

"I'll just, carry the bags."

Jason handed off the bags of food to Zach while he carried Killgore's cage. While the duo rode off towards home, Kevin had just finished telling what happened to the rest of the group.

"Holy shit. He's more batshit than I thought. But you gotta admit, he's damned strong if he can throw you across the room one handed. That'll be a problem if he snaps." Bill being the first to express his thoughts.

"I'll, talk to him tomorrow. Hopefully he can see reason that keeping that 'thing' is dangerous. Come on Kevin, come help us with boarding up these windows."

As for Alice and Lily? They were having their own secret conversation...

When returning to his room, he set the slightly calmed down Killgore down in the middle of his room. She was currently gnawing on the arm which was devoid of any flesh and in it's basic form of a bone.

"You need more don't you sweetheart? I'll go get the rest of him, cut him up good for you."

Hearing him, she started banging against the cage and barking once more. Just as he turned around he paused, a concerned look to his face.

"But... how can I feed both you and Usain Bolter. I'm sure he's come to depend upon me for his meals. And if I suddenly stop feeding him, what will he think of me? Sigh, I have to let him go. Like a momma bird shoving their baby birds off a cliff to make them fly. He'll need to fend for himself."

With that problem cleared up, he went off to pick up Killgore's previous owner. He though it appropriate, for her to finish off her meal proper and poetic like. When he returned with the fly and maggot ridden body, he set in down in apartment number 2 (to the right of his apartment). From there he grabbed a saw and began cutting up the body into pieces. He tried his best, but as it was his first time it didn't look so pretty and was very messy.

But in the end he eventually had 8 pieces to feed Killgore through the cage. Head, two halves of the torso, arm, thighs, and legs. He thought himself lucky Zach didn't walk in on him, or he could imagine how disgusted he might be. Then, he placed all the pieces into separate bags and placed them in corner of the room. As for the organs, he wanted to make them in to little doggy treats. To reward her for good behavior.

"The thigh should be good."

He figured that because she hadn't eaten for so long, it would be fine to let her have another piece of meat.

"Does she even shit and piss?"

He had noticed this before hand. Nothing of the like was found in her cage. Without thinking about that any longer, he took the suspicious bag back to his room.

"I got something for you girl. Catch!"

He threw the thigh into her cage. Once inside she grabbed onto it immediately and ripped it to shreds while looking directly at Jason with hostile eyes.

"I know, you love me already don't you? Hehe..."

When dinner with Zach was done, he went to his bed and lied down with a smile to his face.

"Goodnight, Killgore."

Her response was some growling, followed by barking and the slamming of her cage.

What Jason didn't know, was that this was going to be a long and brutal night.

I think I want to start writing more in third person than first.
