10 Chapter 9
Arriving at the 6th floor, I immediately headed straight to sir Banner's office. Reeking in rat blood, I got a few glances from the people whom I've came across.
I really need to take a bath.
Reaching the office, I first knock on the door and slowly opened it. Entering the place, I was again meet with the neat looking office and sir Banner sitting on his table. It seems that his quite busy glancing some papers in his desk.

"Umm.. hello s-sir Banner"
"Oh? Your finally back, I was waiting for when you will sho-... What the hell happened out there"
"It's a long story"
Explaining to sir Banner what I have experienced. He finally understands the reason as to why I look like someone who just came out of a horror film.
"I see... tough luck for you to encounter something like that in your first assignment. But I'm glad that you came out unscathed. We already have a few people in our hands and having one die now would just be a tragedy"
"I apologize, sir Banner"
"What are you apologizing for? You completed your mission and returned unharmed. If anything, I should be commending you for a job well done"
"... Thank you... I guess"
"Hahahah, well for now. Hearing your reports about the camp, is great news. We're almost finished with the repairs, so continuing our expansion can proceed with no problem"
"Is this all I have do?"
"Well... for now, I guess. As much as I would like to reward you, for the effort that you made in your mission. We're kind of lacking some funds due to the repairs, so I would like to apologize"
"There's no need for that, sir Bruce. You have already given me too much. I just want to ask you a few questions before I go out"
"Hmmm... I do have the time to answer a few, so what are the questions that you want me to answer"
Well it's about my job. As you know I'm still new at this, so I don't really understand how things really work or the nature of it"
"Ah! I see... that's quite understandable, considering how early you have already been sent to a mission. To answer that I need to do a little bit of explanation of how being an agent in this settlement work. So how about you take a seat for now?"
"No need for that sir Banner, I don't want the rat blood dirtying this good-looking office"
"Well if you insist. Now going back to topic, being agent in this settlement you must follow the rules and etiquette of this place. Meaning you can't do anything that may harm the settlement and the people in it. And as an agent you must also follow the orders of your superiors"
"That's understandable. And how about our missions"
"As for your missions, as stated earlier. As an agent you are given a weekly pay in exchange for your services. Meaning you have to follow orders or missions that we give to you. How you accept some missions or assignments can vary. You can either accept a mission given to me or from the other higher ups like Conner"
"Conner? Who's that?"
"Conner is the head of defense and security of this settlement. His office is located near the library, so you can meet him there if you want to"
"I see.."
"Well in any case. As an agent you can either accept or decline any mission that is available, unless it's an urgent mission. Your performance is rated from the missions you have completed, and the more missions you complete the more likely you get a promotion and essentially get a higher salary. But with that said, to avoid having any slackers in the settlement. We made it a rule where any agent has to complete at least 2 missions a month, unless they want to get fired"
"So... does that mean that there are a lot of missions available if any agent is mandatory to complete at least two missions a month?"
"Well not exactly... in most cases we only have moderate missions available each month. But not all missions have to be done solo, we actually allow agents to team up and complete any mission together. And said effort is allocated as 1 complete mission by each person in the team"
"That's convenient, but do I really have to ask any higher ups for any missions?"
"Sort of. Any urgent or important missions tend to be discussed with the higher ups that requested said mission. But if you want to take any normal missions you can just take and asked Harold for details"
"I see, that's very helpful. Thank you for answering my questions sir Banner"
"I'm glad I can help. Oh yeah! One last advice before you head off, Bruce. Do you have any problems with your salary?"
"A-ahh.. Not really"
"Well, I'm glad. But if you ever find that you're lacking in financial. You can actually accept any jobs that you have the opportunity to take"
"That's allowed?"
"Fortunately, yes. In our observations, most of our agents tend to do nothing after finishing their task and just wait for their salary to arrive. So, to give them more experience and allow our agents to earn more money. We allowed them to take other jobs from others, as long as it's not any jobs that is harmful to our settlement and its people"
"I see.. I'm ever grateful for your kindness, Thank you again sir Banner"
"Goodbye then Bruce. And please do take a shower after this. You somewhat reek"
"Hehehe... I will, Goodbye sir Banner"
Waving our hands goodbye. I again made my way to the elevator, out to this floor. Having to ride said elevator many times than I should have, I've become somewhat familiar with it. With that said, reeking in rat blood for this long might give me some unwanted dieses. So I should really need to take a shower.

Ariving at the 3rd floor, I hurriedly made my way to my dorm. The shower room of the facility is just in this floor. But before I can take a bath, I would really need some spare clothes to wear. Arriving at my room, I quickly open the door to enter it. To my surprise, what greeted me inside was none other than Claire who seems to be busy reading a book.
"Oh? Big bro you finally came ba-… Ahhh.... w-why do you look like you've just murdered someone?"
"Ummm... Work related incident"
"Eh?"
Confused at what I've said. I tried fabricating some story, in order to not aroused suspicion about my job. Despite how easy it would be to just tell her the truth, now. I want to respect Bruce's promise to Claire, just to have a reminder of the person whose body I've inherited to.
"Ahhh... some incident happened while I was at work. And now I'm covered in animal blood"
"I thought your job was travelling"
"Well, a lot of things can happen. So for now, how about you bring me some spare clothes. I need to take a shower"
"Ok"
Phew... That was easier than I thought.
"Oh! By the way Claire. Would you like me to buy you some new clothes?"
"There's no need for that. I'm quite content with my current clothes"
"Don't say that. From looks alone, I can see that it's quite old"
"But where would we even buy one in here. Plus aren't we low on money as this moment"
"You don't have to worry about that, I already know where we can buy one in here. And as for the money problem, I just earned 50 silver moneta from my job today"
"Eh! You earned that much"
"Well it's just the immediate payment. My job earns me 80 silver monetas weekly"
"What! 80 m-monetas... y-you can buy like a hundred mushboar steak with that amount of money"

"B-b-but... I don't think I'll need some clothes. You should just spend that money for yourself. You've already done a lot of things for me, big bro"
-Sigh
"Well that settles it, then. We'll go shopping tomorrow, so prepare yourself"

"No buts... Seeing my beautiful sister live happy and healthy, already satisfies me"
Hearing my words, Claire's face became red. Not wanting to see her embarrassed look, she desperately tried covering it with her hands.
"Big bro... y-you're such a dumbass!!!"
"Eh?"
Throwing the clothes which she brought, I was caught surprised by it. But thanks to my reflexes, I was able to caught it easily.
"Just go take a shower already!! You reek of something that I can't even describe!"
What did I do to make her angry?

Leaving my dorm for now, I went and finally took a bath in the shower room. The cold-water pouring down on me feels very refreshing, considering all the things I have gone through. Having this moment of peace, I quickly went into deep thought about my current predicament.

I still need to create that build of mine... but is it really the right choice...
The build that I have in mind is a psionic base build. Knowing how odd the dangers are, in this world. I can't just overlook having psychic abilities as part of my arsenal. But with that in mind, I still lack knowledge about psionics and nor do I know any abilities.
Opening the Character Building Tool, I again carefully took a glance at it.

Only 1 point for Feats and 3 for Base... From experience, I know that I can unlocked more Feats if I mess with the Base Section. And with that in mind, does messing with the Skills also unlocked more feats.
It's just a theory in my mind. But basing on my past experience of games, doing what I've said will normally trigger some hidden skills to be unlockable.
But I only have one chance for this... so if I mess up now, I'm totally fucked.

Thinking hard about it. I've finally decided to spend all my points. Despite the risk of what I'm about to do. Not doing anything will not change my current situation. And as far as I know, not dying from the dangers that I will face is the best outcome for me.

Finally deciding on where to spend all my points. I hesitantly pressed the conformation key. Knowing that there's no turning back from what I did. I can't help but feel a bit of tension, rose inside of me.
Oh... God.. I hope I didn't make a mistake, from doing this.
Depressed at the possible mistake that I made, I was caught surprised when a sudden text pops out in my view.

-Lessens the energy cost of any psionic ability by 15%.
Requirement: Will 7, Any Psionic Skills raised to 30
Marksman: Unlockable
-Increases user's aim of any long-ranged weapon by 20%

-Increases user's detection by 30% and helps the user's concentration when in combat

Seeing the Feats that I've manage to unlocked, all I can feel is the need to shot myself in the head. Hoping that at least I can unlock a good psionic ability, in the build that I've decided. I've chosen to spend a majority of my available points in the Psionic Skills. Seeing how the psionic abilities that I've manage to unlocked are one's that increases and mitigate psionic usages. I've concluded that I'm totally fucked considering I've still yet to gain a single offensive psionic ability.
… T-though luck I guess...
Not being new to disappointment, I quickly got over my depressed feeling. But still knowing that I screwed up. I quickly thought of things that can help me in my current situation.

Knowing that they're the only ones that is knowledgeable about psionics. I've decided to give them a quick visit tomorrow after my shopping with Claire.
And with that over, I continued my soothing bath in the shower room"
