19 Chapter 19: Adventure

Entering a world much more grueling than before, Velgin spent years struggling to climb the food chain.

Even after reaching near the peak of strength, only one level below the strongest, she was still desperate for more strength.

But after meeting true friends who she wishes they could spend time together, Velgin was finally able to relax. She didn't think of getting more powerful. Nor did she aim for more subordinates. Neither did she continue planning and scheming.

Instead, she relaxed, and enjoyed her time, having fun with Luminous and Chloe, both of whom became best friends with Velgin.

And the next thing she knew, 25 years had passed.

Luminous had finished building her capital city of her new Holy Empire Ruberios just a year after they met up.

She invited displaced humans living near her previous territory who knew that she was a vampire to migrate to this country. Everyone agreed, fearing another attack from both Angels and monsters, but they still had the knowledge that their rulers were monsters.

As a joke, Velgin created a cult to worship Luminous as the Holy God, but somehow it stuck and even expanded into the dominant religion. Only the older population knew of Luminous's true identity, but after living in this country for so long, everyone had accepted that this was their new way of life, and didn't want to disturb the peace.

Besides the minor side projects like running her country and managing her religion, Luminous also trained like crazy.

Her [Lust] skill still didn't evolve, but both Chloe and Velgin knew that it wouldn't be long until it did. Velgin thought that the only thing left before it did was that Luminous needed faith particles, as well as time. As a Vampire, Luminous didn't have the ability to awaken as a True Demon Lord, but her Species was on the same level, so she would have no issues gaining an Ultimate Skill.

One day after training and sparing, Chloe decided to bring up a new topic.

"I think I'm going to become an adventurer," She declared spontaneously, looking very nonchalant despite bringing up a serious topic.

"Huh?" Luminous was surprised, as there were no signs that this was what she wanted to do.

"Cool! Where are you going to adventure at?" Velgin asked, knowing that it was Chloe's destiny to spread her name around as the True Hero.

"HUH?" Luminous asked, her head turning back and forth as she wasn't following what was happening.

"I'll start at the west most side of the continent and sweep the western states until I reach the Great Forest of Jura. I'll probably stay on the west side of the world though." Chloe said after thinking for a few moments, before she started walking away, towards the exit of the city.

"Good luck!" Velgin said before following her out.

"STOPP!!!!" Luminous screamed, creating a barrier to force them to stop. "I don't really know what this adventurer stuff is, but you better get back safely so that we can reunite one day."

Luminous knew that this would probably be the end of their carefree lifestyle together, and she would miss these times.

But even before, multiple years ago even, she knew that the two would have to leave.

Finally letting them go, Luminous watched the duo walk into the distance, before retuning to her work in the palace.

The following day, after Velgin left her friends for the first time in a quarter of a century, she returned home for the first time in a very long time.

For the 25 years that she was with Luminous, Velgin had left most of the work to Emilia, who had done an excellent job, and was promoted to the Prime Minister. Velgin was more like a Guardian Deity protecting the country from a distance, but her official title was the Dragon King.

After Velgin returned, she was greeted by a huge country wide celebration and festival. The food was great and the decorations were eye-catching, but the best part for Velgin was the people.

As evolved monsters, much of her population wouldn't have found the need to have children, fearful of losing their powers to their children. But as the country needed a larger population, many couples decided to help out, and had children, spiking the population all they way up to ten thousand. Fortunately, [Raphael] decided to help, and made it so that no one lost any magicules when having children, and also gave all the newborns names.

The economy has also been doing great, as trade has opened up with five different countries. The Sorcerer Dynasty, the Puppet Nation, the Eastern Empire, the Holy Empire, and the Land of the Forgotten Dragon.

That's right. The Land of the Forgotten Dragon was founded recently.

Milim was on her way to visit the Dragon Kingdom, but was looking at the wrong side of the river, leading her to her original territory.

After saving a few human tribes who were at risk of a monster invasion, they all started worshipping her, and she ended up being the leader of a nation. Velgin didn't plan on this happening so soon, but it worked out very well.

With nothing else planned for the next few centuries, Velgin decided to go on another trip. This time, a little more dangerous.

Her goal, to visit Zelanus and ask for an Insectar subordinate, like Zegion.

Obviously, if they were to fight, Velgin would most likely lose, or so she thought.

Instead, she was banking on the fact that she was Veldanava's adopted child, and hoping Zelanus would listen to her.

But first, the issue wasn't how to get her subordinate, but how to even find the gates to the otherworld. There were two ways the Velgin was thinking of.

First, there was the small possibility of finding a random rift between the gaps of the world. But even with an Ultimate Skill, the chances of finding a portal would be miniscule. It was more likely to find a stranded Insectar than to find a portal, so this option was quickly striked off the list.

So then it was the second option that Velgin choose.

Velgin directly teleported into the Demon World, where Demons reside and are naturally born. It was unlikely to find a random portal here, but there was a chance that a Demon with potential showed up.

The red sky's and purple miasma that shot up from holes in the ground made this world seem like the apocalypse had destroyed it. The temperature was above water's boiling point, and the air was so dry. There wasn't a sun in the sky, but instead the sky itself glowed with evil intent.

None of these effects bothered Velgin that much, or to the demons living here, the most evidence being all the demons challenging her, not realizing that she had totally eclipsed their entire understanding of the definition of power.

Red, Black, White, Yellow, Blue, Green, Purple. Demons of all lineages appeared, challenging Velgin each time she passed one, but none had interested Velgin.

Walking for some time, she finally saw what she was looking for.

A partially destroyed castle, stone walls broken into, towers fallen, windows shattered, vines growing over the property, and worst of all miasma erupting from within.

Her destination, though may seem bleak, was exactly what she needed.

Entering the destroyed palace, Velgin walked around, exploring the deserted grounds.

None of the above ground rooms were intact, with each room having at least one wall and window destroyed. Some even still had blood and dead bodies lying about.

But none of that was important. It was the aesthetics that the owner wished for, being able to trigger fear, unease, and other negative emotions which were appealing to a demon.

In the dining room, Velgin was brought to a sight of a long table already set with food played out. But instead of actual food, the gross sight of the body parts of humans was laid out. Human ribs and meat dishes were prepared, with eyeballs, hands, feet, hearts, and brains placed neatly on their own plates.

The chairs were crafted from human bones, with skin being used as covers to protect them from getting dirty.

The bedroom had another terrible sight. A large, hairy, muscular, fetid, gross beastly being was posed on the bed, with the skeleton of a being underneath, most likely of a woman as the beast was sexually acting with the skeleton.

In the garden, instead of actual plants, humans in both skeleton forms and dead bodies were hung about, planted on wooden crosses and poles, as well as buried up to their heads in the ground. It looked as if a few of these humans were recent additions, as one still looked alive, blood flowing and small twitching from her crucified limbs.

Looking back, there probably a was a good chance that woman was still alive since she was groaning, but Velgin moved on from the grueling sight.

Finding an entrance to the basement, Velgin headed down the dark cramped stairwell. Entering the quiet room, Velgin was surprised that there was a throne room underground.

The room she entered was massive, with the height, length, and depth of the room matching the size of the castle from the outside.

On a throne made of a dark metallic material in the far side of the room sat a man with abyss black hair and blood red eyes. But what stood out the most wasn't any of that, nor was it his choice of garb. Even with him wearing a peculiar butler uniform, worn by a man that could pose as a grand king, what stood out more was not his clothes, but instead his creepy smile, looking both clownish and pure evil.

"Welcome, young Dragon. How can I, the Black Primordial Noir, help you." Noir said.

Since he hadn't yet met Rimuru, Velgin was being extra careful to not antagonize him. After all, Noir had no one holding him back at the moment. Even if she had a much higher EP Value than her, Noir's battle experience far exceeded hers, and Velgin didn't want to take any chances.

"Hello there, Black Primordial. I'm Velgin, the newest True Dragon.

By the way, your castle was very interesting" Velgin said nervously."

"Thanks. I hope you liked the layout. Plus, you have to admit that the art was first class." Noir said while laughing, but stopped when he heard Velgin's next words.

"By the way, can I enter the gate to the Otherworld?" Velgin said, thinking this was as good of time as any to bring up the subject.

Hearing this, Diablo's smile instantly disappeared, turning into a glare, but then into a smirk a few moments later.

"If you want to use my belongings," He started saying, standing up off his throne and powering up for battle, "Then you'll have to go through me first."

Smiling like a battle maniac, Noir lunged at Velgin, his right arm stretched out front making a choking motion with his hand facing Velgin's neck
