2 Chapter 2 — Rebirth & The Mysterious Black Ring
It was dark everywhere, with no sign of living creatures.
"Where am I? Shouldn't I be dead?" Sounded an astonished voice. But nobody was present to hear him complain.
The last thing that Ye Chen remembers was getting hit by a truck after that he lost his consciousness.
He tried checking his body but felt nothing. Ye Chen was startled because he could not feel his body mass and even his very own existence.
"Fuck!"
Ye Chen cursed loudly, but he could not even hear his own voice!
Ridiculous! This is totally ridiculous!!
He could neither feel his body nor hear his voice. This has never been a situation Ye Chen experienced before.
Ye Chen was hopeful that he would be able to transmigrate to a new world and lead a Protagonist's life. Just like those in the Chinese novels.
But life had to offer him something different!!
Instead of getting transported to another world, Ye Chen found himself in the form of a soul consciousness, stranded in an empty void.

He then looked at his transparent body that was flickering as if it was about to dissipate at any moment.

The soul body is very fragile and susceptible to even very small damages.

But Ye Chen did not feel any fear. This was most probably because he has already experienced it (death) once.
Ye Chen took a deep breath and let go of these distracting and negative thoughts.
He believed whatever has to happen will happen and left everything to fate. With this, the burden that he faced lessened a lot.
Feeling the weight of burden lift off his shoulder, Ye Chen relaxed a lot.
Ye Chen then looked around only to see himself standing in the vast void with nothing but darkness all around.

"Where am I?"
Seeing the vast emptiness everywhere Ye Chen couldn't help but cry silent tears.
His mood was complicated. He cursed all those authors who, in the novels made it look like reincarnation and rebirth were something very common.
If it was so easy, wouldn't he have reincarnated already, instead of being detained in a dark void?

Ye Chen calmed himself down. And looked at the surrounding only to see a sight that he would never forget.
At a distance, he saw some light spots twinkling brightly in the dark void. Ye Chen moved in the direction of the source of light at a fast speed.
Staying in the dark void for so long, made Ye Chen go nuts. But now that he spotted a source of light, it once again ignited the bleak hope that he had already given up on.
But soon Ye Chen noticed a problem. No matter how much he approached the source of light. It seems to maintain the same distance from him as if it was close but worlds apart.
But Ye Chen was not easy to give up.
He clenched his teeth and strengthened his resolve to reach the source of light at any cost. So once again he started his journey.
He forgot the concept of time. Sometimes he was lost in the void turbulences making him lose sense of direction. But Ye Chen preserved on.
Fueled by this obsession in his heart, Ye Chen finally managed to reach his destination after a very long time.

Ye Chen looked around. But what he saw captivated his heart.
Before his eye was the starry sky, that he read in the newspaper and magazines. He never thought of seeing it one day up so close.
No word came out of his mouth, as he stood floating in the void open-mouthed, amazed at the beauty and vastness of the universe.
He saw planets, asteroids, interstellar clouds of various colours and stars as small as fireflies in the distance. The scenery was so beautiful that Ye Chen stood rooted to the spot, looking at the beautiful starry sky in admiration.
But what truly caught his attention was a giant spiralling galaxy at a very large distance.
Ye Chen was thousands of light-years away from it but he still felt uncomfortable just by looking at it.
To Ye Chen, the universe was like a canvas and the planets, asteroids, galaxies and those interstellar clouds were the paints.
Just like how a painting is impossible without the paints and colours similarly universe is also incomplete without the sun, moons and stars.
As everything in the universe complements the Yin & Yang. The canvas and the paints together create a perfect masterpiece covering the canvas in rich vibrant colours.
Ye Chen felt it was visually & aesthetically pleasing to the eye and could not help but marvel at the scene.
"Bang!!!"
While Ye Chen was admiring the beauty of the universe, he heard a loud 'bang!'.
The impact was so huge that even the Space around Ye Chen swayed. The void energy in Space became unstable and rioted, making the space unstable.
[Author's note: Scientifically speaking, one could not hear any sound in space. But it is a fiction based novel, so anything is possible here.]
The sudden blast was followed by a crazy influx of starry sky dust and dark particles.
Ye Chen looked all around, trying to avoid the places where the space is unstable. Suddenly he caught a glimpse of dazzling rays of light.
Ye Chen turned his head, to get a clear view of the source of light.
In the distance at the depth of the Void, Ye Chen saw two energies collide as if they were trying to gain superiority over one another.
With each collision, the intensity of the light increased, as if it dyed the entire universe in two shades of yellow and violet.
The yellow rays of light are like a rising Sun, sacred, unparalleled & brilliant with overweening arrogance. While on the opposite side of the yellow rays of light, the violet rays of light, which was equally good, and filled with endless evil, resentment and killing energy, ran into each other.
The intensity of the light was so high, that even Ye Chen who existed in spiritual form could not open his eyes.
The vast void was dyed in two lights of yellow and violet and the two light sources were entangled, colliding with each other as violent energy started sweeping the surroundings.
The void is dense but the confrontation of both the energies was so huge that it even shattered the entire void, just like a broken mirror.
The energy generated by the yellow and violet energy colliding with each other was too terrifying, and it is definitely not something Ye Chan can resist. Moreover has never seen such a pure and destructive power.
The collision seemed silent, but the star-like yellow-violet two-coloured rays of light sputtered like raindrops, as they flooded the entire chaotic void.
Ye Chen was afraid he could not bear the aftermath of these collisions.
Ye Chen only existed as a soul consciousness. He was afraid of seeing this scene because his soul would be erased from heaven and earth if encountered those energies.
Even without investigation, one could determine the terrifying destructive energy in both the light sources, that is the power of destruction.
If one looked closely, one could see that the sources of two shades of light were in the shape of a Yin & Yang Tiagram.
But Ye Chen could not see the situation due to him still being a mortal and not stepping on the cultivation path yet.
However, Ye Chen is not yet ready for ingestion.
An inexplicable power suddenly came from not far away, and the next moment, fragments of a huge asteroid approached the direction of Ye Chen with high velocity.
Seeing these scenes Ye Chen was shocked with cold sweat and turned his head quickly, trying to avoid the incoming asteroid fragments.
Ye Chen knew he could not avoid all the asteroid fragments. From what Ye Chen saw, he knew he couldn't survive even a single hit from a fragment given their momentum and destructive energy.
Just when the fragments were about to hit Ye Chen, an azure green layer of protective covering faintly appeared around Ye Chen's body out of nowhere and turned into a protective barrier to withstand the attack of the waves.
Ye Chen was shocked by the sudden changes. He then looked at his body, from where he saw the source of the Azure green light appear. Only to see a black coloured ring hanging around his neck.
The ring was carved in the shape of a dragon. But rather than telling it a dragon, it's better to call it a snake, because it resembles more like a snake.
The pitch-black ring looked ordinary. If one wanted to know the most peculiar thing about the ring it would be that it had 10 small holes in its interior.
Ye Chen knew this ring. It was given to him by his grandfather before he passed away. According to his grandfather, it was a 5000-year-old antique ring, an heirloom of his family passed down for generations.
Seeing the ring Ye Chen was reminded of his grandfather, who used to brag about him being a descendent of some historical big-shot.
He was indifferent toward the topic of life and death. Whenever such a topic aroused, he used to reply, "Death is not the end of everything, perhaps you can start your life over somewhere else."
Sometimes he even used to brag about other parallel planes, where people practised magic and cultivates the Qi force.
This was the kind of crazy talk that his grandfather would always tell Ye Chen, which is why Ye Chen firmly believed that when he passed away, his grandfather had gone to a different plane to restart his life — and live an extravagant one while he was at it.
The ring-opened up his emotions, hidden deep within his heart.

Ye Chen looked at the necklace and felt an obscure aura emanating from the ring — it indeed feel quite mysterious.
This was one of the many things that his grandfather left behind for him.
He even warned Ye Chen to keep it safe as it was the most precious of everything in his collection.
Ye Chen did not believe it before, because he thought what could a copper ring smelted from a charcoal stove be worth?
But now he believed his grandfather because the ring followed him even after his death. This alone showed the uniqueness of the ring and how extraordinary it was.
Suddenly the ring, shook slightly as it reacted to the two pairs of energy that were colliding in the void violently.
Ye Chen, suddenly felt a thought bing transmitted to his mind telling him to approach the two pairs of energy.
Ye Chen unknowingly started moving toward the source of light. His eyes had become dim as if he was hypnotised.
Suddenly he was awakened by a shockwave, resulting from the collision of the two energies.
Ye Chen sweated profusely, as his back was cold with a chill. He knew this was the doing of the ring because he felt familiar energy from it, the same that instigated him to approach the source of the energies.
Ye Chen felt betrayed. Does this ring wants to kill himself!
[Author: You are already a dead soul!]
Ye Chen then concentrated his mental power and resisted the urge to move forward. But his mental power was not enough to withstand the stimulation of the black ring.
So he decided to pull off the ring. But the moment Ye Chen touched the ring, he felt a heart freezing chill as a sudden change appeared in the ring.
Patterns in the shape of various mythological beasts like Azure Dragon, Ice Phoenix, Black Tortoise, Fire Qilin, Sky Swallowing Python, White Tiger and many other divine beasts appeared on the surface of the ring as it glowed in ten magnificent colours.
Suddenly the illusionary patterns of all the divine beasts condensed together to form an illusionary astrolabe that floated in front of Ye Chen. Ye Chen was shocked to see this thing.
The astrolabe started rotating slowly as it drew the two mutually opposite destructive energies towards itself, forming a whirlpool.
Seeing this scene Ye Chen could not help but cry, cursing his bad luck.
"Fuck! Are you serious?"
The swallowing force of the Astrolabe increased more as it drew the chaotic energies towards itself. The astrolabe then feedbacked all the energies to Ye Chen's soul through the black ring.
Then the Black Ring pushed the two energies to Ye Chen's chest, the energies entered through his skin and began to fuse with the muscles in Ye Chen's body.
When the energy entering his body, Ye Chen felt something eating off his veins. The two mutually opposite destructive energies raged, as his body became their battlefield.
An intense pain engulfed Ye Chen's whole body, Ye Chen felt like his soul was being stabbed and chopped by thousands of swords that were not visible to the eye.
"Ahrghhhhhh ..." A cry of pain was heard from Ye Chen.
Ye Chen screamed in pain, unable to bear this devilish torture.
As more and more energies poured into his body, his Soul body started tearing apart in various places.
Unable to bear the pain Ye Chen fainted. Torture to one's soul is much more painful than the pain of the body.
Ye Chen did not notice, but the moment he fainted a red and azure hue enveloped his whole body.
This source of energy came from the Black Ring. It constantly supplied energy to Ye Chen's soul body repairing the damage to his soul.
Suddenly a drop of blood appeared from the pendent. The energy of the blood was so destructive, that even the sun and moon lost their radiance in front of it. Even the universe was shaking under the influence of the blood.
The blood then divided into Six and entered Ye Chen's soul. Each blood looked different and represented the blood of Six Divine Beasts. Azure Dragon, Vermillion Bird, White Tiger, Black Tortoise, Fire Qilin, Earth Surpassing Divine Elephant.
As the blood entered Ye Chen's soul it started reconstructing his body from scratch. Building the Meridian channels and veins. The blood even strengthened Ye Chen's physique.
The Blood was not any normal blood but the blood essence of Six Divine Beasts. Ye Chen had no idea that he reaped a huge benefit and it was a blessing in disguise.
Suddenly, from the void, three fragments of stone appeared. The two stones formed a perfect balance of Yin and Yang Taichi whereas the third stone was the core of the Yin Yang Tiagram, which was the source of destructive energy in the void.
The two destructive energies were all absorbed by the Black Ring and fed backed to Ye Chen, to create his body. Only a small portion of the energy was absorbed by the ring as gold shaped patterns appeared on the ring.
The two yellow and violet coloured stones formed a Yin & Yang Tiagram of sacred holy and evil power and entered Yang Kai's body whereas the third stone directly occupied the central position of the Black Ring, changing the appearance of the ring.
Suddenly, a void corridor appeared out of nowhere. Ye Chen who was in a comatose state was enveloped by the ring as it glowed brightly. Followed by the ray of light, both Ye Chen and the ring disappeared into the Void Corridor.
Ye Chen who was in a comatose state did not know so many things happened while he was unconscious.

[After an Endless amount of Time, the unconscious Ye Chen shuttled through void corridors under the guidance of the Black Ring. He arrived at a large blue planet that was almost similar to the earth. Ye Chen had no idea that he was about to get reborn.]
It's cold…
It hurts…
It's painful…
These were the first impressions Ye Chen felt.
When Ye Chen woke up, he tried to retrace the memories before he lost consciousness, however, it wasn't clear. His brain was fuzzy.
"Wait a minute, I don't have any memories of arriving home." Ye Chen blurted out in his mind.
He can't remember getting drunk
"Did I maybe encounter some kind of accident?"
Although he started to think of various situations, it wasn't viable because of his painful condition.
Ye Chen tried moving his body, but it wasn't responding well.
He tried opening his eyes, but that also didn't go so well.
Finally, because of the unpleasant situation, Ye Chen tried to speak.
"Aa—"
!!
Ye Chen was surprised to hear his own's voice.
It was a high-pitched cry of an infant.
He tried to speak again.
"Au, au, a—"
Because his tongue wasn't moving well, he couldn't talk.
Feeling these uncontrollable emotions, Ye Chen suddenly burst into tears.
Although it was a shameful act as an adult, Ye Chen couldn't help it.
What is this?
While he was crying, he heard the sound of approaching footsteps.
As he thought, it was cold and raining outside, and the footsteps he heard issued some squeaky noises.
'I'm saved.' Ye Chen thought in relief.
That is what he thought so for a brief moment, then, Ye Chen heard a voice.
"☆※◇◎□○△▽"
He couldn't understand it at all. He heard this language for the first time. From his memory, he could not remember such language existing on Earth
Falling into even further confusion, Ye Chen was enveloped in warm light, wrapped with a warm cloth, eliminating the pain he felt.
Ye Chen, who just woke up felt relieved but suddenly lost his consciousness.
It was because he was not yet adapted to the new body and powers within himself.
