3 Chapter 2: hunting

It's been 7 years since I was reincarnated. My life passed quite quietly and peacefully. I lived with my adoptive father until I was 5 years old before he left me to live alone in a town somewhere in Japan. Not because he was irresponsible towards me or anything. It's just that he has outside work that needs to be done.

My adoptive father, Masaomi, is an exorcist from the Protestant church. Looking at the pile of achievements on the shelf, I can see that my foster father is a quite famous exorcist.

To outsiders, Masaomi's actions were irresponsible, but to me, this was great. I don't blame him, more accurately, I feel this is quite wonderful. Thanks to that, I have more private time to practice and do more cool things.

Where I live is a small town, which basically attracts supernatural beings here. That's right... This world is not inhabited by only humans. The world I live in also has countless other creatures and races.

Mainly devils, fallen angels and Yokai. At least those are the supernatural creatures I've discovered. If they didn't cause any harm, I wouldn't care so much about them. It's just... these creatures are somehow always trying to mess with humans. To be honest, I feel a bit happy about this. At least I'll have a reason to kill them. Just today too, I felt some foul presence on my way home from school. Perhaps some stray devils have come to this small town.

"Since you have come here for so long, I will have to welcome you carefully." I said as I entered Masaomi's room. I opened the closet door to get a few things for the hunt.

First is a lightsaber, second is a few vials of holy water, last is a pistol and a few bullets. Well, Maosami is an exorcist so there are quite a few of these things in his house. I soaked the bullets in holy water to make them more effective in dealing with stray devils.

After preparing all your items. I put them in my backpack before starting out. It's been a while since I've had a chance to hunt like this, so I can't let my chance slip away.

If you think I'm crazy for preparing to fight a group of stray devils, you're right. I'm really a crazy person... Or maybe I just love the thrill of fighting too much. To be honest, it was extremely dangerous for a 7 year old like me to fight a group of stray devils. But who cares, I'm pretty strong after all... At least compared to the stray devils I've met.

Currently my level is 5, which means my physical strength is about 10 times stronger than that of a normal person. Next is my fighting style which also helps me a lot. I was an assassin in my previous life and I will use my experience to the fullest.

After about 15 minutes of walking, I finally approached an abandoned warehouse. Thanks to my strong senses, I immediately determined the number of this group of stray devils.

I reduced my presence as low as possible and silently entered the abandoned warehouse.

Inside this musty warehouse, there was a strong smell of blood and the smell of decomposing corpses. It seemed like these stray devils had killed quite a few people.

I looked towards the only light in this dark warehouse. Surrounding the fire lit by corpses were 6 stray devils.

'The difference is quite large. However, it is just enough to complete the quest from the system.' Was what I thought when I started thinking of a plan to deal with this group of stray devils.

I bent down to the ground, picked up a wooden stick and threw it outside the warehouse, making quite a loud sound to attract the devils' attention. Even though devils can see everything clearly in the dark, they can't detect me.

"What's that noise?" stray Devil 1 said.

"I don't know… Maybe some drunk guy." stray Devil 2 said.

"I'll go check it out. If we were humans, we would have a delicious night's meal." The third stray Devil said and then grinned as he stood up.

"I'll go too. Who knows if there will be an exorcist." The fourth stray Devil said and then stood up.

"If it's a girl then we'll enjoy her hehehe." The 5th stray Devil said with a lewd smile.

Both devils went to the warehouse to check the source of the noise just now, not knowing that there was a dangerous person quietly walking behind them.

When the three of them were quite far from the abandoned warehouse, Toji began to act.

" Damned . There's nothing out here." stray Devil 3 mumbled with an annoyed voice.

"Maybe the noise just now was caused by a wild animal. Anyway, this abandoned warehouse is right next to a hill." stray Devil 4 said.

"We can… just go home." stray Devil 3 muttered before turning around. The two were about to go home when suddenly a pain struck the stray devil's chest. This feeling of extreme pain as if being burned by fire made the stray devil unconsciously look down while his mouth continuously vomited blood.

In front of its chest was a light sword protruding while blood continuously flowed out without stopping. The stray Devil trembled slightly and turned his head to look towards the source and he was surprised to see that the person who stabbed him with the light saber was just a child.

The lost Devil didn't have time to react to what he saw, so the child pulled out the sword, causing him to die instantly.

After that, Toji switched his target to the remaining stray devil. At this time, the stray devil felt uncomfortable about his teammates' silence. He turned around to check and was immediately surprised to see a human child standing in front of him.

With breakneck speed, Toji swung his sword and slashed at the stray devil. His slash created a deep wound on the devil's chest. Not stopping there, Toji continued to swing his sword and cut off the stray Devil's head.

The sound of the system continued to ring in Toji's head but he didn't seem to care much about it.

" Now there are only 4 left." Toji muttered as he wiped the blood from his face before he again hid his presence and approached the abandoned warehouse.

Inside the abandoned warehouse, the remaining 4 stray devils are gradually feeling impatient with the disappearance of their 2 teammates.

"I wonder what took them so long? ." stray Devil 1 mumbled.

"Maybe they found a woman and are having fun." stray Devil 6 said.

"I'll go check it out." stray Devil 5 said and was about to stand up when a small hand held him. At the same time, a dimly lit blade appeared from the darkness and directly slashed the stray devil's neck, causing blood to splatter. The remaining devils became bewildered by the sudden attack. However, they quickly reacted by immediately standing up and getting ready to attack the stranger.

" Damn… What the hell?" stray Devil 1 reacts by screaming before he takes an attack stance. He threw an energy ball containing devil energy at Toji but he used the stray devil's corpse to block the attack before pulling out his gun to counterattack.

Bang Bang Bang

The dry sound of gunfire rang out amidst the silence of the night. Three bullets hit the stray devil, killing him on the spot. Toji then turned around and swung his sword to kill a stray devil that was trying to approach him from behind.

"Well… Pretty easy." Toji shrugged after completing his massacre. Toji left but he suddenly stopped.

"Oh… I forgot." Without looking at the remaining stray devil, he pointed the barrel of the gun at the one who was silently running away and quickly shot a bullet into the middle of his head.

"Finally done." Toji smiled, put his hands in his pockets and leisurely left .
