"What are you doing here?" Lina asked, astonished by his presence in her shop.

"I'm here to see you." Gently closing the door, Pete stepped further into the shop. He stopped a good distance away from the counter, where she looked caged yet beautiful as she had always been and taken by surprise.

"To see me?" She softly muttered, her eyes glistening as they set wide.

"Yes," Pete answered,

"Why?"

"Isn't it obvious, Evelina?"

No, she answered distractedly and silently to herself.

"I missed you, and I'm here to talk."

Her lashes flitted once and again, and Pete took note of it. But that wasn't all he noticed.

With so little attention, he caught the streak of flour that stained her chin —a usual sight that appeased and amused him and reminded him how incredible a baker she was.
