163 The worry

Caleb gazed at Silas in incredulity.

Silas heaved a deep sigh and began to recount the series of events that had transpired between him and Patrick. He detailed how they had fought, how Patrick had threatened to kill him, and how he had managed to convince Patrick to accept his defeat and leave.

"Patrick left," he added. "He accepted his defeat. He won't bother us again."

When Silas finished speaking, Caleb let out a relieved chuckle. "Well, well, well. Look who's the hero now," he said, clapping Silas on the back. "You've defeated a notorious hitman and saved Esme. That's truly remarkable."

Silas's expression remained stern. "The culprit is still on the loose," he said. "We need to find Ruby." He clenched his jaw, a raw anger reigniting within him.

"Let me handle this matter," Caleb assured. "First things first, I need to get you to the hospital. You're injured, and I don't want those injuries to worsen."
