8 Chapter 8: Voice

Chapter 8: Voice

As I walked into history class, just like originally in the show, I watched as Kira and Scott interacted with each other, and her father revealed that she had a crush on him.

After that embarrassing interaction for her, Kira seemed a little shy, so after looking around in class and eventually finding me, she quickly walked over and sat on the seat beside me.

Then, she slumped down as she put her head on the table.

"That was so embarrassing." She uttered.

"You got that right, I was feeling second hand embarrassment for you." I revealed. As I took out the history textbook that I had gotten from my locker.

"Alright everyone let's get started." Mr Yukimura said.

"We were just talking about internment camps and prisoners of war. There's a passage in our reading that I would like to go over in more detail. Who would like to come up and read it aloud for us?" He asked the class.

I just watched as another one of Stiles' depressing moments came.

Right now, due to being in the state of Bardo, and the Nogitsune fucking with him, he could barely read. He didn't even know whether he was in a dream or actually living 90% of the time.

However I could not intervene. The second I did the team loses character development and massive changes to the story can occur.

I can help them, by making their families' lives easier, however I could not help in the supernatural stuff. The only reason I even helped is cause I felt pity and maybe even some familiarity in those situations. I also just wanted someone to help me.

I just needed to wait a couple of weeks, maybe months, in this town. The Nemeton called me here and it will eventually tell me the reason.

"Mr Stilinki, how about you?" Mr Nakamura asked Stiles, as the kid tried to not go through with it, but eventually left due to a panic attack he got.

Class soon ended, and Kira saw Stiles and Scotts bag.

"I need to go and meet Brendon." I said, as I left Kira to deal with the werecoyote situation. I could feel a part of me, signaling that I had to be disgusted with myself.

However a different part of me was telling me that it was okay. Prioritizing my life was better than any people I met 2 days ago.

I chose to ignore my conflicting mindsets, and walk towards the Manga club. School would probably be closed for the day soon, so I needed to let Brendon know something.

As I walked into the location Brendon had told me from beforehand, I saw 4 people sitting inside, discussing the first 10 chapters of one piece that they had gotten.

"Ah you're here, Augustine." Brendon greeted as he stood up.

As he did, and I looked at the remaining crowd of people, a voice from inside of my head said,"Nerds."

I didn't understand why the past me would call them nerds, since they looked like regular kids, just some being on the slightly bigger and smaller side.

I myself fell onto the smaller side.

"The One Piece manga that you had recommended, it is fine but I don't see the hype." A student said from inside of the classroom.

"You have to be patient." I told him. "One Piece isn't really a long term manga, it gets good quickly, but it's the best selling one in Japan for a reason."

[All students, please evacuate from the school immediately]

We heard an announcement, so I nodded at the Manga group and left to the school parking lot. I am pretty sure there was some procedure but since Brendons saw me, I would be fine.

As I got into the car and started the engine, I felt a pulling sensation inside of my head.

I didn't realize it at first, since I was just driving, however as I was driving the GPS told me that I was getting further and further away from my house.

Finding it odd, I slowed down my car and parked it to the side.

"1,2,3…10. I have 10." I muttered out loud, trying to check it by some crazy means the Nogitsune had possessed me.

Realizing I was fine, and looking up ahead of me, I had a faint idea of what was calling me.

The Nemeton.

As I walked through the forest, I was surrounded by towering trees that stretched up towards the sky.

The ground beneath my feet was soft and springy, covered in a thick layer of leaves and underbrush that muffles my footsteps.

Sunlight filtered through the canopy, casting dappled shadows on the forest floor and illuminating patches of moss and lichen clinging to the trees.

Birds chirped and sang, flitting through the branches overhead, while small animals rustled in the undergrowth.

The air was cool and fresh, filled with the scent of pine and damp earth.

I moved slowly, taking in the sights and sounds of the forest and pausing occasionally to examine a particularly interesting plant or animal.

As I walked deeper into the forest, the sounds of civilization faded away and I felt increasingly immersed in nature.

The forest seems to take on a life of its own, with every tree and creature contributing to a delicate balance of ecosystems.

Despite the peaceful surroundings, I felt a strong pull inside of the forest, so I quickly followed it.

It didn't take me long at all, to come up in front of a tree stump which I recognised as the Nemeton.

As I reached there, I couldn't help but remember the events that would happen today. Scott turning Malia into a human again.

And the Nemeton summoning the Oni…

"Mathew…." I heard a whisper, coming from the stump.

"Get bit!" It said, in a venomous tone.

I then felt the world around me blur, as if time itself had slowed down.

It was as if the universe had paused, waiting for something momentous to happen.

I could barely see anything through the thick white fog that had enveloped me.

It was like being lost in a dream, where nothing is quite real but everything is tinged with a sense of foreboding.

As the fog covered my entire body, I could sense a strange presence around me. It was as if some unseen force was trying to communicate with me, to impart some important message.

Suddenly, a figure began to form within the mist. At first, it was just a shadowy outline, but gradually it became more distinct until I could make out the figure of a man.

"You have to get the bite!" The voice boomed, echoing around me. The man's figure then disappeared as quickly as it had appeared, leaving me feeling confused and disoriented. But the sense of foreboding remained, and then, from behind me, another figure began to form.

It was a child, barely visible through the thick fog. He walked up to me, reaching out to hold my hand, but his grasp slipped through mine like mist.

"The bite will help you," the child's voice whispered, barely audible over the sound of my own heartbeat. "You can become strong." I stood there, knowing what to do but unsure about whether it's the right move, as the fog began to thin and the strange presence faded away.

But the message lingered, like a faint whisper in my mind, urging me to seek out the "bite" and unlock some unknown power.

The sense of foreboding only grew stronger, and I knew that my fate was tied to this strange, otherworldly message.

"ROARRRRRRRRRRRRR!" I heard a massive roar, and I turned around to see Scott forcing Malia to transform.

However, something had changed.

I saw as Scott turned around to look at me, and I was confused, as he was in his werewolf form, but he suddenly crouched as he growled at me.

I could see his eyes lose its pupils as he slowly lost all senses of rationality.

Fuck well what do I do now?

...
