72 CHAPTER 69

It was obvious that after the publishing of the news about Kate's hand in the Hale Fire the entire student body would avoid her at all cost since no one wanted to associate with the girl who was related to an arsonist, a perfect show of Friedrich Nietzsche's philosophy of herd mentality.

Though she could have just chosen to skip school, Allison didn't and showed up day after day even when her parents suggested she didn't.

The only thing that made it bearable and made her show her face everyday was because of her three friends who acted as if nothing out of the ordinary happened.

Malia and Tristan didn't care that much given what they already knew and while Boyd was a little spooked about it, he knew more than anyone what it felt like being judged based on external circumstances and things out of one's control.

Allison did not know why they said nothing and acted as if they weren't aware of the rumors flying around but she didn't say anything either. She knew if she asked Malia then the all too blunt girl would tell her their reason but she felt like she didn't want to know.

…..

"My grandpa is coming to Beacon Hills tomorrow for… well you know." Allison said to Malia after they finished their literature class.

Malia's only response was to look at Allison weirdly and just sigh. 'Can't everyone just say what they want to say?'

It annoyed her greatly that she just couldn't come out and tell Allison that she was a werecoyote, even more so when the girl already knew. At least partially as she still thought they were werewolves.

She was one of those people who preferred ripping off the band-aid and just getting it over with.

"Mhm-mhn. Got any other extended family coming in that you think I need to know of?" Malia nodded and asked offhandedly, not putting much importance to the subject.

Allison shook her head and tilted her head in order to recall if she was forgetting anything but came up with nothing. "I don't think so."

"I also have to go home as soon as the bell rings so I won't be able to hang out with you guys after school." Allison said with a strained voice, remembering an argument she had with her dad.

"No problems. Just don't mess up your beauty sleep." Malia said jokingly which brought out a light chuckle and blush from Allison.

Since they had nothing noteworthy to do, they decided to lounge around in one of their usual hanging spots to pass time.

...

Malia was taking a stroll through Beacon Hills after school ended since she had nothing to do at home and Tristan was out helping Demarco with something the latter requested.

Since it was currently nighttime she thought she should start making her way back home because her other half was probably about doing the same and she also didn't have to wait for him to be done cooking because they had decided on ordering takeout.

Halfway back to the house, she stopped as she caught the scent of something in a frenzy and also the smell of dried blood.

She hesitated for a brief moment before making her way towards the source of the blood which turned out to be a cemetery.

She made her way with silent steps towards where she could feel something wild, probably having a meal. Without thinking too much about what it could be, she sprung up on it only to be surprised as she found a very dirty and unkempt looking man nibbling at what looked like a heart.

The two of them stared at each other for a few seconds before the man attacked her in panic.

Malia's eyes turned cold as she saw what was clearly a werewolf trying to attack her. With practical ease, she shifted backwards a bit and caught the outstretched hand of the werewolf and then drove her heel to his unprotected chin, effectively knocking the lights out of him for the next couple moments.

Malia sighed as she heard the growling from the werewolf that was picking himself up from the ground because she understood what she just did. Not only did she interrupt his meal and probably spooked him in doing so, she also attacked him. Well he had technically attacked her but who ever cared about technicalities?

"Trust me you don't want to do this." She said to the werewolf who was now prowling on all fours facing her. "Hey, at least I tried."

Right now she did not even care about what he was doing robbing a graveyard or that she was supposed to be on her way home because all that remained in her mind was exercising herself a bit with the poor oblivious wolf in front of her.

Seeing the disregard in her eyes that she had for him, the wolf bared his fangs and lunged at her aiming for her neck only for what happened before to happen again.

She grabbed his left hand and then choked his neck with her other hand and then proceeded to head-butt him in the middle of his shifted face and then threw him over her shoulders by slamming him hard on the ground.

"Whoo! Turns out what I actually needed to vent was to beat someone up." Malia said with a content sigh while flexing some stiff muscles to get that satisfying popping sound.

"Don't tell me you're done so fast, dude. Well with you looking like that I can't really expect more." She said with such a cute smile that further enraged the poor man who had just managed to gain his clarity only for her taunt to provoke his already agitated mind.

Seeing how she easily brought him over the edge, she smiled to herself as her schedule for the night automatically fell into place.

'1. Vent out my frustrations on this willing werewolf.

2. Eat some good food.

3. And then top the night off with rounds of mind blowing sex.'

"Don't disappoint me now, okay?"

Regardless to say, the unfortunate werewolf could do nothing but suffer under Malia's hands until he had no choice but to run away while tethering on the edge of his consciousness.

…..

Kate's funeral came and went without any fanfare with the supernatural duo spending the entire day indoors.

When they arrived at school the following week, they heard the news that one of the lacrosse player's father, who was also former coach of the school's swimming team, was found dead.

"You think that wolf you found did it?" Tristan asked as he saw the expression of suspicion on her face.

"Maybe, who knows?" She replied nonchalantly before pushing the matter to the back of her head.

"Well you pretty much confirmed that he was the one robbing the graves and stealing organs to eat, maybe he killed the man." Tristan pointed out which made Malia pause and turn to him with a skeptical look marring her face. "Do you want to hunt him down?"

Tristan only shrugged. "It could be fun and it's been forever since we hunted down other supernaturals instead of animals."

Now that got Malia's attention. She looked at Tristan again and asked the main question she wanted to know. "Are we killing him?"

"It entirely depends." Tristan casually stated. "You said his eyes were golden when you fought him so maybe he didn't kill anyone. Anyways, we'll find out when we go hunting."

"Yes!" Malia pumped her fist in an adorable way that took a few breaths away from the passers-by who saw her. If only they knew that she was excited because she was promised a hunt and hopefully a kill.

Tristan left her alone and headed to the locker room to change gears for their daily practice but stopped midway when changing his clothes as he caught a very weird scent that was lingering in the room.

He tried seeing who was emitting that foul smell but found nobody so he shelved it for later and made his way to the field to do a few reps for warm-up.

He was in the middle of some light stretching before Coach called them out for the training of the day when he caught the undeniable scent of a werewolf.

Given that the full moon was just around the corner, he thought it might be Scott already starting to feel its effect only for that thought to be thrown aside when he pinpointed the source of the smell.

Isaac Lahey, one of their reserve players and also the kid who just lost his father, was breathing heavily as he struggled to calm the bestial surge of emotions he was feeling.

"That bastard." He couldn't help but curse Derek because the newbie Alpha had gone ahead and done something Tristan had specifically told him not to do.

He just shook his head and left Isaac to his own devices since it was none of his concern. Derek was more than mature and experienced enough to know what was good for his pack.

"I hope he doesn't think I'll be keeping an eye on him." He thought about it and shook his head the next second. "I doubt he's that delusional. He'll probably have Scott look out for the lost pup."

He then proceeded to entirely forget about Isaac's existence and just had fun playing lacrosse before going out for the hunt he and Malia had plans about.
