The coven had a wide base of practical knowledge which you were able to learn, but you were eventually put off by their rituals and increasingly bizarre behavior. You felt the need to break away and explore on your own.

There was some anger at your announcement, but you were able to smooth things over before you left. In the end, you promised not to reveal these demonic powers.
