CHAPTER 26 : SURPRISING ENCOUNTER 2

I sat on crossed legs on the cold ground and started meditating, trying to recover the mana of my now nearly empty core for teleportation

from a fist-sized core in my hands, I had gotten from Bilal's corpse.

About ten minutes later, a thud resounded from my front, breaking me out of my meditative state.

Opening my eyes, I looked up, making out the figure of a man that now stood about 10 ft away from me.

My eyes went wide open in surprise, threatening to pop out of my sockets when I realized the newcomer's identity.

The man had deep-set eyes underneath heavy lids, giving a mysteriously charming quality to his stern face as he eyed me curiously with them. With his neatly-cropped head of ash black hair and his tight-fitting black armour underneath a lavish purple cape, the Vritra looked like someone out of every female's dreams if it weren't for the pair of horns jutting out just above his ears.

A few minutes before his arrival, I had already recovered enough mana required to cast my camouflage spell, so right now my outer appearance looked exactly like John's.

Looking at the core in my hands....noticing its mana signature to be precise, the man's eyes narrowed.

"State your identity," he said, locking his cold eyes on me, not surprising me even in the slightest that he saw through my nearly perfect transformation spell, as John's aura was too weak to harm someone of Bilal's calibre.

I quickly composed myself after my initial surprise but couldn't help but reprimand myself for previously thinking that I was unlucky.

To be honest, I had already decided I wouldn't be fighting the person coming, but that also would've revealed my teleportation ability, but now, looking at the man in front of me.

"Hehe," I smirked at him, not even bothering to hide it.

His mouth twitched, misunderstanding it with mocking.

"Ahh...Whatever, I'll just do what I'm asked to. Don't move or try anything stupid and let me put these on you, otherwise....the consequences will be dire." he said emphasizing the last part in a threatening tone, as handcuffs materialized in his hand, which I guessed to be mana blockage artifact.

"Haha...Cylrit right? No need to be so rude as I'm not your enemy, and who knows...hehe...we might even become allies in the future in your MASTER's DANGEROUS ENDEAVOUR." I said raising my voice at the end, making sure he clearly heard my threat. While also continuously absorbing mana from the core in my hand.

And his reaction didn't disappoint me as the retainer looked at me in horror with wide eyes, not in his wildest of dreams he had expected me to say this.

But just the next instant he composed himself. A firm expression formed on his face as if he made some kind of decision.

Mana revolved around Cylrit as he lunged at me with inhuman speed, forming spiderwebs on the ground beneath his feet.

I watched as the retainer covered the distance between us in an instant, Black toxic wind covered his fist as he threw a punch at me, but....before it could connect, a golden light engulfed my figure, teleporting me away.

...

...

A similar nauseous feeling embraced me, though at this point I've mostly gotten used to it.

With a thud, my feet landed on the hard ground and I found myself in a cave, the one I had created when I was a child...though I still am a child.

"Yo, took you long enough," Noticing my arrival, Asher came running from the other side of the cave.

Breathing the homely air of dicathen in my lungs, a pained moan escaped my lips. My whole body along with my nearly empty core ached with exhaustion as the backlash finally hit me. My transformation spell, which I had been holding onto so desperately till now immediately collapsed. Relying on the wall behind me, I sat on the cold floor, breathing heavily.

Asher's eyes widened in astonishment as he reached me.

"Wholy fu*k! You're a kid?" He said as it was the first time he saw my original appearance.

"You think so?" I asked, gulping the healing potion I had taken out from my storage ring.

Asher finally noticed my ragged breath and wounds on my body as he gasped and asked worriedly, "B-Bruh you good? what happened to that m-mage."

"I'm fine just a little....exhausted," My breath became stable as the smaller wounds on my body healed with a speed visible to the naked eyes, showing the full effect of an advanced healing potion.

"As for the mage." Bilal's corpse materialised in between us as I pulled it out from my storage ring.

Asher's mouth twitched looking at the scorched corpse. When he saw him the first time, he had also felt from the aura of the man that he was very powerful, killing someone of this calibre wasn't an easy feat, at least not with the little wounds I had gotten. Asher again thought that his choice of becoming Alex's assistant was the right one.

"Asher, bring me the ring on his right finger." It was time to finally collect my reward for all the hard work I had done.

He walked to the corpse nodding at me. Taking the ring out, he sent mana into it but then realized that the ring didn't take his mana in.

Colours faded from his face as he looked at me, "Its l-locked."

"Of course it is dumbass, give it to me." In fact, it would be weird if it didn't have any security measures.

Taking the ring from Asher, I sent space mana into it. Ignoring the lock like it didn't exist, I directly excessed the space inside it. Like the last Alcryan I had robbed, Bilal's space ring had several similar things but the sum of runecards he had was monstrously larger than John's. A satisfying smirk formed on my face, looking at the 12 identical black boxes laying in the corner of a nearly 1000 sqft space.

Then I thought back to my unplanned meeting with Cylrit. I knew the retainer wouldn't report me back or any of my abilities as it would mean going against me, which could prove to be fatal for his master's plans for the future. My threat to him was as clear as day.

If you reveal anything about me. Then expect the same from me in return.

Taking out the boxes, I quickly dismantled the complex mechanisms installed on them. There were 30 test tubes filled to the brim with the pink solution inside each box.

I nodded my head in satisfaction looking at them, thinking all the trouble was worth it.
