Family Dispute

—2 Month Later—

Leonhart Manor

"Basically from what I got out of reading magic books is that, magic is based on understanding, focus, and imagery." Leonidas said as he stood in the backyard with a chalk board behind him.

He had a stand that you would usually put paper in when playing the piano, but he had put a scroll in it while talking with Ashton on the scroll. Kathlyn was sitting in a chair next to Ashton's scroll, but they had it in an angle where he could see them both.

Over the past month, he's mastered not only his ability to move while absorbing mana, but he's also gained the ability to double think. Currently he's helping them with their magic since he was way more proficient with it.

Along with his own training, he's been teaching them science from his world. Mainly about atoms and molecular particles. How the atoms change when something is a solid, liquid, or gas. Along with some things on the periodic table of elements.

Now they were still kids so they didn't get it all, which is why they're doing a review now.

"Now, one thing we all have in common is that we can all use the water element right?" Leonidas asked.

Kathlyn made a waterball hover in her hands and Ashton was able to slowly form a waterball in his hand and seeing this progress, Leonidas smiled.

"Now, usually you would need to chant to form an image in your head, but this is where the part of reading all those books comes in. Turn that waterball into an arrow." He instructed.

Instantly, they both shaped the waterball into an arrow that hovered in their hands.

"See that. As long as you have a vivid imagination to picture how you want it to be formed, what you want it to do and what you want it's effects to be, you can do anything with magic."

"Well as long as you have the proper mana reserves." He added.

"Let's change over to something more complex. Turn that water arrow into ice." Leonidas said as his arrow froze instantly.

Ashton was able to get it done quickly and Kathlyn had frozen it solid. Over this month, he could see why she was called a prodigy with ice and they were doing all of this without spells.

"When I said to make it ice what did you picture, Ashton?" Leonidas asked.

"I just imagined the dots or whatever they're called bunch up together." He said in a relaxed tone.

"Atoms, but either way that was correct. When atoms get bunched up and compact it's in a solid state of matter." Leonidas said.

"Hey, I noticed that when I'm thinking of it with those atoms, it's way more durable and effective than thinking of the ice itself and chanting. Why is that?" Ashton asked.

"I don't know if it's true, but I think it's because we're changing the properties of not only our mana, but the atoms around us as well, but I don't know. It's only a theory." Leonidas said as he hunched his shoulders.

"I see."

"Anyways, all you have to do to be strong is have a bright imagination and have the mana reserves to do what you're envisioning." Leonidas said.

Ashton looked to his left and sighed softly as he turned back.

"I'll talk to you later. I have something to take care of." He said and the scroll went up in flames.

"I wonder what he's been up to lately?" Leonidas wondered aloud.

"He might just have some things to do with his parents." Kathlyn suggested.

"Hmm, maybe. Right, how've you been doing with the mana rotation technique?" Leonidas asked Kathlyn as she stood up to stretch her legs.

Without saying anything she started absorbing mana and walked around Leonidas in a circle.

'Wish I was a prodigy.' Leonidas thought as he inwardly cried. She had learned it in just a few weeks and although she hadn't mastered it, to walk around and skip while jumping and still absorbing mana was insane.

"It was easy after practicing double casting." She said. As it was stated before, Kathlyn had affinities with Water and Wind. Over the last two months she's basically mastered it, but could use a bit more practice. He can see her future being bright if she had some type of mana beast.

'Should I get some beast cores from the beast glades? I'll definitely find something there, so maybe…'

"Leo!!" Kathlyn shouted in his ear. He jumped as he rubbed his ears with an annoyed look on his face.

"That was VERY unnecessary!!"

"Forget that. Are we still gonna practice magic now?" She asked with her eyes practically glowing although her facial expression was straight. Her eyes were a bit wider than usual so he just wrote it off as hopefulness.

"No, we'll just be meditating for mana as of now. You have a good understanding of magic so all we need now is the reserves. Use the mana rotation technique while exercising. I'll be practicing with my sword." He answered.

At the moment they weren't wearing anything fancy. Leonidas wore black training pants with a long sleeve black shirt along with regular black shoes. Kathlyn was wearing the same thing with her hair in a ponytail. Oh right, Oliver was already off to Xyrus Academy. He went there around 3 weeks ago, but Curtis didn't go yet.

He didn't want to just follow the person he deemed his rival and at the time he was extremely immature and still is from what Kathlyn says.

Anyways, Leonidas had his own plans and all he had to do was run them by his parents. And so for the next few hours they each trained while having occasional breaks and talking.

"I'll see you tomorrow Kathlyn." He said to her after saying goodbye. He waved her off as she rode home in a carriage. After closing the door he turned to his parents.

"Mom, dad, there's something I want to talk to you about." He said seriously. They nodded at him and walked towards the main room. Once there they sat on a couch while Leonidas sat in a chair facing them.

"What is it honey?" Diana asked.

"I want to become an adventurer." He said.

"What!?" Diana yelled.

"Honestly honey you should have seen this coming. We were like this as kids too." Fredrick said with a heavy sigh.

"Does that mean-…"

"I didn't say that. When are you talking about being one?" He asked.

"Sometimes after the Helstea's hold their auction." Leonidas answered.

"Listen, we know you're strong and we know you're smart and can take care of yourself, but that's way too soon." Fredrick said.

"Ehh, but I can handle it."

"We know, but you're six years old. We also can't just let people know that you're being let to do stuff like that at the age you are. Besides, Kathlyn might want to follow behind you, but she's got her own problems." Fredrick replied.

"You let Oliver get into a place like Xyrus at Eight years old."

"You can't compare a safe school to a place like the glades."

"The fact that it's dangerous is the reason I should go. If I can get some experience then maybe-…"

"Experience for what?! What are you constantly training and studying day in and day out for? What are you preparing to do or what are you preparing for?!" Fredrick snapped.

"I'm not preparing for anything, I just want to be strong! Why is that such a big problem for you?!" Leonidas said, raising his voice.

"You wanting to be stronger isn't the problem. It's what you're doing for strength that's the problem!! You spend so much time training that you haven't even realized you spend no time with your mother. Hell even me and you barely get any type of father son time. You just train and study while talking to Kathlyn and Ashton!!" Fredrick yelled as he was up from his seat.

Silence dominated the room as Leonidas glanced at the floor with his hands clasped together. He knew his dad was right. Subconsciously he did forget that while this world will no doubt end up incredibly dangerous and that to survive he would need strength, but he could also take breaks.

Fredrick sat down and Diana gave him a hug while they waited.

"Then how about when I'm eleven? I'll stay home for five years and afterwards I'll go be an adventurer. How about that? In that time I'll cut down on training and studying and we'll have some family time." Leonidas suggested.

"We started when we were twelve, so it shouldn't be a problem. Fine, you can go in five years, but for now you're ours." Diana said.

"Thank you." Leonidas said as he got up and hugged them both. At this point it was already night time and everyone was tired.

They had split up and went to bed as they all thought about what to do tomorrow. Being out in public would be pestered with people. For the rest of these years they didn't want to feel any different than a regular person.

That's when it dawned on them that they should just wear a disguise.
