4 Chapter Three

She wasn't very familiar with video games. Throughout her life, she had only been taught about engineering by her father. She was asked to read every book related to it, and she would say nothing and just comply.

When she was 15 years of age, she found her calling as an electrical engineer. She was offered a commission to build a technology that is related to an electrical dome that would provide energy. When she was 18 years of age, she helped the military build an electrical tower that destroys projectiles by disintegrating them to sparks.

Only when she was pursuing more knowledge of engineering in university that she got to know about video games, mainly MMORPGs. One of it being Tamaru's Fantasy. She would spend hours learning about the game, leveling up, hunting monsters, completing achievements, just like how she would spend hours reading books about engineering. She thought to herself,

"Why didn't I get to know this before?"

She partly blamed herself because she spent most of her childhood with books. Although, her knowledge helped her live a luxurious life.

In the game, she chose a character that had electric or lightning abilities. She liked the character because it's almost identical to her. She spent hours playing until one day, a message was sent to her in game.

"Would you like to try out the beta?"

With her being naive and not knowing what a beta was, she just pressed (Yes), and suddenly, her body started being wrapped with blinding light and disappeared.

One City

It was noon, and the city center was filled with people. It was crowded and heavily packed. All types of voices can be heard, from vendors shouting their item's prices, people talking, hagglers convincing vendors to lower down the prices.

It was jam-packed.

And amongst the crowd, there stood Erebus. He didn't stand out from the others, or that's what he thought. His presence itself made people gave way to him when he walked. His glare alone made the others shudder.

No one dared to go near him. They know if they make a slightest mistake and offend Erebus in any way, they'll die. But Erebus didn't care. He liked it better so he doesn't have to slide through the crowd with effort under the voices and yells of the people.

The first place he headed to was the Guild Hall. This is where adventurers get their quests. Plus, the building had rooms for people who wants lodging, and a bar also. It had everything the adventurers needed. He entered the building, and immediately the room went quiet. Some looked at Erebus, some didn't, but they knew he was there.

His aura and presence made him noticeable by everybody. Especially the elves. They reacted more stronger than the others. A lot of thoughts went inside the minds of the people in the room.

'This guy is dangerous.'

'Intimidating. He's bad news.'

Erebus walked to the front desk, where an elven girl stood, waiting for him. In Erebus' presence, she didn't dare say a word, until Erebus himself asked her.

"Hello. Can I meet the guild leader?"

Hearing this, everyone in the room went wide-eyed. Some even had their jaw dropped, unable to believe what they just listened to. Then from the corner of the room, a broad, muscular man standing higher than Erebus himself walked to where Erebus was. He looked down straight into Erebus' eyes.

Erebus somehow felt a little intimidated by the stare.

The muscular man grinned, creepily.

"You think you can just meet the guild master that easily? How can we know you're strong if we don't check it out ourselves!!?" He said before raising his formed fist into the air, going down to crash onto Erebus' shoulder.

The floors cracked, and the shockwave surprised everyone in the room. What they saw surprised them even more.

Erebus was unscathed.

"W-What.." The muscular man was lost for words!

"That's all you can do?" Erebus smirked.

With a flick of his wrist,

BOOOMMM!!

The muscular man flew back and hit the wall, denting the wall in the process. Everyone looked at the now unconscious man on the floor. Now they are sure that Erebus is not to be messed with. The man he just beaten was a Rank A adventurer. If Erebus beat him, then he must be higher than Rank A.

An S Rank.

Everyone had shivers down their spine at the thought alone. There's only five S-Rank Adventurers recorded and Erebus wasn't one of them.

"He can't be...." A young male archer broke the silence.

".....a Transmigrator?"

The room became silent once again.

They knew who a Transmigrator was. They are individuals who have the amount of power that rivals top rankers but is not recorded in any guild archives.

They are thought to be Demi-gods from another world and have the ability to even destroy a city. That's how scared the people in this world are to Transmigrators, or players. Some people decided it's best to avoid Transmigrators and respect them, treat them like Gods. There were even people who started cults. For example, The Church of the Banana God Zrass. There are also some who resents the players/Transmigrators and fought against them, just to be destroyed later.

And now there is one Transmigrator standing in the middle of the Guild Hall. Looking at the situation now, Erebus decided to try calm things down rationally.

"Relax, I didn't want to hurt anyone. Your friend over there attacked me first. I defended myself. I just have some matters with the Guild Leader. Is that even a problem?" He said to everyone in the room.

Not even a soul responded, until;

"Umm, sir...?" The clerk at the counter called Erebus. He turned to look at her.

"In order for you to meet the Leader formally... I need you to register for an adventurer's pass here... Would that be okay?" She asked politely trying not to offend Erebus.

Erebus took something out from his inventory and handed it to the clerk. It was an adventurer's pass that he obtained when he played the game before! He had already registered to be one because of the benefits one would get from registering.

"This..... A Rank..?" She was dumbfounded.

"Any problems, missy?"

"U-uh, would you like me to rank you up?"

He shrugged.

"Depends on everyone in this room."

When he said that, everyone in the hall immediately nodded to the clerk.

It's possible that in everyone's mind right now they're thinking "Yes yes yes yes rank him up please."

.......

A short while later, Erebus was brought upstairs by the clerk into a room with a large round table. She prepared tea for him and told him to wait.

A short while after a middle aged man with scars on his muscular arms came in. He greeted Erebus and sat across the table. He poured tea in his cup and then took a small sip.

"I was hoping that no one would find me, but even if someone did I would refuse to meet anybody." He started the conversation first.

"But I didn't expect it to be a Transmigrator. This is something I can't refuse." He continued.

Erebus just sat with arms crossed looking at the man.

"The name's Erebus by the way. So why can't you?" Erebus replied.

"Gavin's the name. I can't refuse knowing that there's someone that can beat that monster out there. Countless people have come to offer their power to beat her, but from my experience alone I can see that they're not enough." He explained.

"So I'm that someone who can beat her? What makes you so sure?" Erebus questioned. He then picked up the tea cup and sipped.

"I just know."

There was a moment's silence. Before Erebus said anything, Gavin made an offer.

"What do you want in return if you beat her. You can use any way you want to do it. Just name your price." Gavin plead.

"Price? I want nothing."

"What? Then what do you want?"

Erebus quieted for some time, and Gavin waited with bated breath for Erebus' reply.

"I want the honor and reputation of Transmigrators be restored."
