105 The Trial Part 2

--The Nydisian Kingdom, The Castle, The Ground Floor--

It was well into midnight as Alexander and Katherine walked down the castle hallways, heading straight to the dungeons. The cloaks both Alexander and Katherine had worn kept their faces hidden.

Alexander's hand was raised as he held the torch high enough to illuminate their surroundings. 

"What of the guards? Will they not alert the council if they see us?" Katherine asked worriedly as she tried keeping up with Alexander's fast pace. 

"Don't slow down and they won't," Alexander had waited until most of the council members had retired, so the chances of being seen were reduced.

The dungeons were an entirely separate section of the castle, it was almost secluded in a way. The hallways became darker and narrower, the stench in the area was horrid. The metallic smell of blood reeked so strong that Katherine had to resist the urge to gag.
