Chapter 1 – Decisions

This adventure begins in a Monster Hunter Guild Tavern in a small town, the tavern is small and buzzing with drunkards drinking and dancing merrily to music coming played by a small band from a balcony just above the bar. The tavern is well lit and is made of stone and wood that over the years of drunken playfulness have seen better days but it still holds sturdy, there are a few tables scattered about with a mish mash of different chairs and stools at them, the walls are solid stone decorated in animal skins and mounted heads of many different creatures, most the windows seem cracked or broken in one way or another. In the corner of the tavern, below a large mounted deer head, three Adventures sit at a table sharing a meal of what's looks to be a small overcooked roast chicken and warm mead to drink, discussing what mission they should seek out next. Each of the friends have different ideas and are presenting each other with their possibilities, first to talk is Krum Scalder, a large and well built Dragon born Barbarian, he sits at the end of the table towering above the other two Adventures and has a huge broad shoulders and large muscular arms with an overwhelmingly intimidating presence, his scales are a darkened red colour as if each red scale has be scorn blackish by a great heat. He has little in the way of armour and is mostly dressed in animal furs of many different kinds seemingly throne over his large torso and stitched together round him, he has a few leather pouches around his waist with little in but most noticeable is the large battle axe he carries strapped to his back even for a Warrior of his size it is a large blade finely crafted. From a distance the axe looks in perfect condition clean and shiny but if inspected closer you could see this more smears of blood stained around the handle and speckled over some of the blade as if it has caused a hundred deaths.

Krum is not particularly articulate and presents his idea in the form of a wanted poster, he puts the poster face up on the table and as soon as the others lean in to look at the portrait of the wanted person, Krum slams a knife into the table through the forehead of the portrait he then laugh out loud and says "we find and we kill". The other two look at the paper and the knife and notice a small drop of blood off the knife bleed into the paper they then turn to Krum, then at each other and laugh, one of the others congratulates him on a simple an Direct presentation but wishes to discuss his first.

Victor Wilde is a human fighter class warrior he looks to be the oldest in the group and shows signs of being an experienced fighter. He has Caucasian skin but is rough and a little dirty and tanned, he has on some parts of old armour that has clearly seen many battles bronze in colour but with some edges looking a little rusted, in the centre of his chest plate is a faded and scratched Insignia of one of the large human Kingdoms in the north of the lands it is unclear wither it is has been purposely scratched off or just been worn over the many years. His out fit looks like the armour has been modified and stripped a little for easy travel and more practical everyday wear, he wears a weapons and pouched belt and carries many knives and one long clean and well maintained sword, when the light hits it in the right way the edge of the blade gleams a different shine from the rest of the blade but he tries to keep it covered buy his long cape attached to his shoulder guards.

Victor pulls out a map of the neighbouring Kingdom from one of his pouches and suggests travelling there has he has heard that the guild in the capital is seeking Warriors to take on what is described as a cursed mission. He smiles at the other two and says "we can be the one to break this curse and complete the mission, spreading our names across the land... " he sits back and smiles confidently. The last adventure speaks softly but with purpose and confidence "a wonderful idea but without funds we wont be able to make the journey, that is why we are here to take a mission and get some money. might I remind you both that we have spent the last of our funds on our rooms in this Questionable Tavern and this even more questionable meal! ".

Una Quinril an elven druid, she has very clean pale sky blue skin with piercing dark purple eyes and long auburn hair, again very clean and straight with small flowers and vines running through it looking as though it is holding the hair in place. She is wearing thick and well made leather armour decorated again in plant life and leaves, has many small pouches going round her belt and a short sword sheathed to her left side, she also wears wrist guards with two small concealed knives in the guards and has a short cape with a quiver and arrows holding it to her back. She has her short bow wrapped over her shoulder with the staff of the bow across her back. She leans into the table taking the knife out of the paper and table then tosses back to Krum who Clumsily tries to catch it bouncing it from hand to hand in a panic, "our choices are simple, I have asked the head of this Guild in this town if there are any available missions at first he said there were none except for one but he is not sure anyone can complete it without a small army" she says, "sounds fun" chuckles Krum placing the knife back in his belt, I assume this mission is a tricky one then" smiles Victor "do go on". Una smiles at them both and thinks to herself 'such boys I have.... But bless them both' "fine ill tell you details" they all lean into the table closer to each other, "in the last few months many villages and towns including this one have been subjected to raids buy yuan ti creatures if neither of you have encountered this type of creature before they are humanoids serpent like creatures they despise all other races and look down on anyone that isn't their own, anyway they have been plundering these villages for months taking what they please including people even children, it is said the deep in the forest they have erected a large temple and that is where they are based and seem to be taking these people for their Queen. Over a month ago extremely wounded man managed to make it back to this very town and managed to explain as much as he could to the town Elder before he died of his wounds, he said that all the people taken to the temple were used as sacrifices and that the temple is full of different snake like creatures, most likely all yuan ti breeds and that running the sacrificial services is a pure blood Queen that they all worship, she is the one commanding the raids too", "so we kill them?" Krum says brashly "i doubt it is that simple Krum" says victor in a serious voice shaking his head slightly " from what I've heard the temples they build are full of guards and other monstrous creatures tamed by them that won't hesitate to kill anything that isn't one of them, on top of that these multilayer temples I like a Labyrinth for those who don't know their way around it"

Victor looks at Una and she smiles at victor " you are right, usually inside these temples it is near impossible to locate a single person but in our case we have an advantage before the man died he managed to sketch down some floor plans of the some of the levels of the temple that he was taken through, it's not a lot but for a mission like this is a huge advantage, we also have one ace.. " krub and victor sit back a little both looking at her confused, Una smiles back and continues " the Queen, all we have to do is locate the Queen and kill her, it is known of the Yuan ti race that without the leadership of their pure blood Queen the Yuan ti will eventually scatter and most likely leave this land once we do this we bring back her head and claim the reward, that would be more than enough to travel comfortably to the next kingdom", both Krum and Victor smile and Victor then says " so we only need to kill one to complete a mission it sounds simple enough" Una nods and then looks towards Krum, Krum picks up his drink and raises it with a slightly confused look on his face and says "Krum follow you guys, we kill snakes" and with a Clink of their drinks lightly splashing across the table, they agree that they will accept and start the mission tomorrow but for now they will drink merrily into the night and rest well.
