Nie Li's suspicions

Nearly two days later, the exit opened up from above.

Chen Linjian jumped down the hole along with Nie Li, Huyan Lanruo, and all others. They were startled to see Ye Ziyun, and Shen Yue already present here.

"It's you guys!" Chen Linjian was stunned. He was relieved to see that Ye Ziyun was fine. He was filled with worry for these five days. Ye Ziyun was the city lord's daughter. If anything happened to her, he would have to face the City Lord's anger. But it should be fine now.

Chen Linjian's underlings were excited as they witnessed the treasures around them.

Meanwhile, Nie Li quickly headed to Ye Ziyun's location and checked up on her. He noticed some bandages on her hands and was genuinely worried about her.

After confirming that she was fine, Nie Li let out a relieved sigh.

He then focused on the other individual in the hall. Alan was standing while gazing at Chen Linjian. He spoke seriously, "I and Ziyun each took a single thing for us and have left the rest for you. I assume it is fine."

Before Chen Linjian could speak, Nie Li spoke up, "Young Master Chen, we had a deal. You would allow me to choose first and then divide the rest. Are you not going to honor your deal?"

Alan rolled his eyes as he heard Nie Li mention this deal.

"This deal only exists between you and Chen Linjian since he never mentioned it to us. And I have never stated my acceptance towards it. Since I was here first, I naturally took the best treasure in this hall," Alan stated. He said those things on purpose to infuriate Nie Li.

Nie Li gnashed his teeth with anger, but he didn't say anything. He knew that Chen Linjian couldn't tear his face with Shen Yue for Nie Li.

"If you want Shen Yue to give his treasure back, then I will give mine back as well. I found this gemstone here, and Shen Yue was kind enough to let me have it," Ye Ziyun spoke suddenly, gaining everyone's attention.

Nie Li was startled to hear Ye Ziyun speak up for Alan like that. He gazed at the gemstone and spoke seriously, "…. No. You don't have to return your treasure. I will be fine with the rest."

"Let's leave immediately," Chen Linjian immediately gathered all his subordinates and entered the forest nearby.

All of them left the Ancient Orchid City Ruins and were soon on their way back to Glory City.

While they were returning, Nie Li tried to talk to Ye Ziyun and find out how she and Alan ended up in that location. There was no hole prior to Chen Linjian and Nie Li's appearance in the military ground. This meant that they had gone through another path.

Ye Ziyun mentioned a statue in the Ancient Orchid City Ruins with the stone text written in the Sacred Empire language.

Nie Li was startled to know that Alan knew the Sacred Empire's language. As far as he was aware, Shen Yue didn't learn the Sacred Empire's language before his death.

This meant that someone else had taken over Shen Yue's body!

While Nie Li was scheming to get rid of Alan once and for all, Alan was simultaneously scheming to deal with Huyan Lanruo.

He knew that Nie Li was dangerous but living while looking over his shoulder for every little thing was not how Alan wanted to live.

This woman seemed to have made up her mind to cling to him. Moreover, every time he saw her face, he recalled her words that she would make him a slave under her skirt.
