My honest opinion is that he sort of reminds me of Fang Yuan in some ways but the fact that he has a harem hmmm. That would probably ruin it for a lot of people. But honestly I still recommend for people who don't like an MC who wants to save everyone

This is one of my favorite cultivation novels of all time, along with Library of Heaven’s Path, and maybe Coiling Dragon. What really sets this novel apart from all the other Xianxia novels is that change and growth is the heart of the story. While all other novels stick to the concept of “the ancestors made it so it’s the best”, Tales of Herding Gods takes that concept and dumps it on the floor. The main character actively seeks the works of the ancestors, not to blindly follow them, but to learn and improve upon them. He is powerful not because some ancestor passed him their knowledge, but because he changed and improved and revolutionized the current methods while others have not. He is powerful because his skills and abilities do not follow ancient guidelines, but because he dares to break the rules, and has absolute confidence in himself doing so. I feel like one thing a lot of people would critique about this novel is the Overlord Body aspect. But I feel like that is not a problem at all. Self-confidence is perhaps the most important aspect in any sport or activity, surpassing even mechanics and game sense. So it would be perfectly reasonable that in a universe where the sport is battle, unwavering self-confidence would be the factor that lifts up the main character. This story is also top tier because of the world building and character growth. Lots of novels have this bull**** where there’s always a “higher plane” that comes out of nowhere and the main character’s home plane is always the most backwards and their-world place possible. Not here. The universe is simply the universe. There are different planes with differing levels of power, but there isn’t any “higher plane” bull**** where everything the main character learned in the lower planes instantly becomes obsolete. The most powerful people are established as the most powerful, and there is nothing contradicting that statement like, “These ruins would make even the Celestial Venerables quake.” No. The Celestial Venerables are the most powerful, along with some others, and they are the most powerful. There’s no ancient being that surpassed them; they are the ancient beings. And that’s great because it sets the main character’s ultra-long-term goal at a point, and keeps it there, unlike other novels who are always going, “Sike! This ain’t the final cultivation realm!” The characters also constantly change and grow. The most obvious examples of this are the First Human Emperor and the Grandmaster. They each had individual goals, beliefs, and desires, and actively worked to achieve those goals. But through interaction with Qin Mu, they change. They learn. They grow. And that is expressed trough their decisions. The character growth in this novel is really good, and thus sets it apart from those novels with cookie-cutter characters. I also want to talk about the main character’s background. He’s the latest descendant of the Founding Emperor Qin family. Surely he’ll rely on that to beat down everyone else with worse heritage right? Wrong. The Qin family plays a surprisingly little role in Qin Mu’s rose in power. The core of his sword, the Carefree Sword, isn’t some treasure blade from Carefree Village. It’s just a normal sword that he named for its origin. His cultivation method isn’t some Qin Family Ancient Secret Method. It’s the common Daoyin Technique that everyone and their mother knows. His enemies are his enemies because of the Qin Family, but because Qin Mu’s beliefs and goals are in conflict with their beliefs and goals. And that add so much to the building of a 3D, well-made, realistic character.

Im glad I didnt start reading this novel when it first came out, because now I can binge read. This is such a pleasurable read and breathe of fresh air, where there's no sudden power up or stupidly upon moronic 'I kill you just because Im the bad guy' trope. The world building and mystery of characters kept me reading and wanting more. MC is a competent kid. He has a brain, logic and common sense. This is extremely important nowadays for novels. If you like: Competent, witty MC Story/World development Likable/non-one dimensional side characters I have also enjoyed: The Path Toward Heaven, Nightfall, Stella Transformation, I Shall Seal The Heavens..etc. Typically, I'd like to pick a novel with competent MC. Translator(s)? have done a wonderful job!

The best novel on Qidian. Solid main character. Unbelievably excellent side characters. People act believably and theres no stupid villains. The political and mystery element of this novel are also among the best I've read. If you're going to read any novel today, make it this one!

The most underated novel i've read. Damn what the hell is going on? Why this novel not in the top 10 power ranking?? This novel is not ur average chineses novel!! First of all from the story this novel have very good story. While this novel a bit slow pace (not really slow) because the detail / information u must get in the early chapter to understand later and the world building is what make this novel great. The world is so vast, its not like other novel that has multiple layer of world and mc reset to zero again after going to greater world (repetation plot). Second is about cultivation. The hcultivation in this novel not so different like other novel but the cultivation ranking doesnt really matter here, its more about the technique and formation. Everything in this novel almost perfect. But too bad this novel has just little bit of romance.

This is actually the best Chinese novel I've ever read and will continue reading. The characters are all well thought out and in no possible way cardboard cutouts like 90% of Chinese novel characters. The MC is smart but unlike other novels he's ACTUALLY smart not stupid and everybody else is stupider to make it seem like he's smart. World development is absolutely incredible, thus novel makes you as the reader wonder and think about upcoming events and theorize possibilities which always seem to surpass your imagination. Chapters are long and with incredibly small amount of filler, just juicy story. MC is also OP but in no way is that strength just handed to him but it is mostly created by him, if there is an opportunity he will take it. The fight scenes are some of the most bloodboiling and epic scenes I have read in any novel whatsoever. I cannot recommend this novel more to people who appreciate more than the same basic stuff like what's taking up the top novels on qidian.

This is sprawling epic fantasy with almost nonstop action. The most impressive part of this book is the incredibly detailed and different regions our main character visits. Each place is well described and easily visualized. I've really enjoyed reading about all of the characters and magical abilities, there's so many and they're all so different!

An absolute peach of a plot with all things fitting in perfectly. This novel is a proper definition of a mythical, magical, organismic fictional novel. Some of the notable things you will find are - > Impeccable humour timings with gem den of crude and subtle yet highly effective humour. > Character development is maybe the finest, most elaborate and levelled. > Plot is epic literally with deep connections with associated characters. It is very intricate yet very well defined, you are in for a gift in this regard. > Fight scenes are well defined and immersive. The narrator presents you with vivid picture of happenings and surroundings just with the words of course. Overall its a 'once in a lifetime' 'must read'.

I give this 4.8 or can be higher because: ✔️Originality ✔️ Well-written and good editing (doesn't repeat sentences or paragraphs every other chapters just to fill-in the minimum word count). ✔️The characters are not monotonous & you can tell them apart. The speech pattern shows who the speaking character is. ✔️ Exciting and I'm losing all my SS.

When I came across this story I din't expect much. I was so wrong!!! This is very good. It´s different, has a story very original, unique characters, unique plot and flow so far so good ... this really is a excellent story. I was really surprised!!! The MC Quin Mu is found as a baby across the village of disable people at night, they save him. He is raised by this bunch of elderly people(very peculiar), gives them happiness and hope and they teach him ... and the rest of the story you must read to find out.

A well fleshed out land of danger, full of relatable villains, monsters and demons, and sort of villainous 'hero' types. MC is a likable, if a bit ***** boy, and the story moves along at a nice pace. There are girls, but nothing you could call romantic, so far, after 70 chapters. Yeah, he is getting a little 'OP', but not really out of line with a plot armored child of fate.
