10 Chapter no. 10 The Changes in Glory City

[ Xiao Ning'er's POV ]

Opening my eyes , the first thing I think about if I am in hell or heaven .

( Chirp )

Hearing the chirping of birds I look to the side of the window as I see a bird.

Sitting up straight I realize that I am covered in a cloak .

My hands looks like charred meat .

What is happening ?

" Looks like you are awake ."

Turning to the side , I come to face , the man that caused quite the commotion during the first day of class , " Lin Lingtian ."

The boy was reclining lazily atop of a circular window of this room , reading a parchment and writing down something on a piece of paper , peering down at her with a nonchalant look upon his face. Clad in a pair of grey shin length boots with red trim, white baggy pants tucked into them tied at the waist with a red sash and a pair of grey and red bracers atop his arms. He made for quite the sight, with his eyes almost glowing in the darkness of the night, and his muscular, well defined torso gleaming in the moonlight.

Xiao Ning'er was confused wasn't she going to die .

" Artic Cold Disease ."

Xiao Ning'er looked at the relaxed Lin Lingtian .

"At night, the legs feel as though they are on fire while the rest of the body feels very cold.

At midnight the body is wracked with so much pain that continuing the cultivation was impossible.

Extremely painful bruising that does not dissipate and starts to spread "

Each word that Lin Lingtian said shocked her .

" This is due to absorbing the yin soul force produced during the night . This accumulation of yin soul force may lead to being bedridden , crippling of your cultivation or death ."

Xiao Ning'er was frozen in shock and horror did that mean she couldn't escape her fate for marrying that scum Shen Fei .

" Well , I don't have to tell you what happened last night ."

Her right arm twitched when she remember the pain form before .

The moment she heard him speak a hope began to rise in her heart .

Xiao Ning'er clenched her fist ready to hear what was wrong with her .

" Lin Lingtian , what is wrong me ?"

" Want to hear the Good News or the Bad News first ."

A blush formed on Xiao Ning'er's face when she heard that .

" Not like that ....ok you pervert ."

Xiao Ning'er looked to the side out of embarrassment at her dirty thoughts.

" So due to the harmony created by the yin and yang soul force was produced that enhanced your cultivation so congratulations for achieving 2 star bronze rank ."

Shock filled Xiao Ning'er as streams of tears flew down her face .

A warm hand touched her head as she hugged the muscular body of Lin Lingtian .

Lin Lingtian picked her up bridal style .

Putting the blushing Xiao Ning'er on the rooftop as he pointed to the sky .

She was mesmerized by the beauty of the stars .

A few minutes go by in silence .

" So what is the bad news ?" said a relaxed Xiao Ning'er .

Lin Lingtian handed her a mirror .

The moment she looked at her reflected , she couldn't help but gasp in surprise .

An ugly black burn mark covered half of her face .

Xiao Ning'er touched the burnt mark .

' Rough '

Looking back at the night sky , Xiao Ning'er sighed even if her beauty was gone , she now had power and with the artic cold disease gone she is one step closer to freeing herself .

" Thank you ."

" Your welcome ."

" But can I ask you something ?"

" Hmmm ."

" Why did you save me ?"

Lin Lingtian grinned mischievously and said with a wink ," Would you believe me if I said I did out of love ?"

Lin Lingtian stood up and did a one eyed wink with positioning his hands in a heart sign like a certain pirate empress who is in love with a rubber man .

" hahahahaha ." Xiao Ning'er broke into laughter at Lin Lingtian's ridiculous pose .

Lin Lingtian smile and sat down beside her looking up to the sky he said ," Who knows why I helped you ?"

' I wanted to prove to myself that I am not some monster but still am a human I guess '

" Still thank you ."

" Well this all was caused by the lousy technique you were practicing ."

" Huh ?! "

Lin Lingtian pulled out a parchment from his Interspatial ring and said ,"This technique is lousy. The meridian pulsing technique here to simulate lightning

through them is an interesting touch and would definitely increase cultivation speed. But it's too aggressive and would burn out the meridians, no wonder you got arctic disease so easily, using this would definitely make you more susceptible to soul force based illnesses."

The War God Technique was a top level Cultivation technique and yet it only gave 40% increased Enlightenment which was enhanced by wood yin Infusion status to 340% , something like flaws in such a low level Cultivation technique was extremely easy .

"Eh?" Ning'er blinked. He had found a flaw in one of the vaunted cultivation techniques of her family that had been around for hundreds of years?

Lin Lingtian said that he had thoroughly checked this cultivation technique and began to state it's flaws and corrections "And this: 'Connecting the heart and eye.' Needs to be replaced with 'Connecting the heart and mind." Lin noted, before continuing, "And this bit too as well to: 'When the will and spirit merge, the heart and mind will connect."

Ning'er stared at him in shock as he continued talking, pointing out bits of the technique her family had practically worshipped for hundreds of years, and telling her to replace them and that what he said would be much safer and much more effective.

Xiao Ning'er's gaze towards Lin Lingtian initially had a hint of confusion in it, but it was soon turned into one filled with admiration.

How much knowledge regarding soul force must one have in order to change this high ranked soul force cultivation technique to such an extent? Even Black Gold rank Demon Spiritualists wouldn't necessarily be able to do such a thing. Could his understanding of cultivation have long surpassed a Black Gold rank Demon Spiritualist's, even reaching towards the Legend rank Demon Spiritualists realm?

She couldn't tell what her feelings

towards Lin Lingtian were: awe, worship?

"Hold on Lin Lingtian" she blurted, "Can you say all that again and let me memorize it down?"

Lin sighed and rolled his eyes,

"Couldn't you have said that before I went off on a tangent?" he griped, though there was no admonishment in it, a small unabashed grin on his face, "You're lucky your cute you know."

Ning'er squeaked but a sad look crossed her eyes as she touched the burnt side of her face .

Lin Lingtian frowned at that as he truly respect the girl infront of him, for her will to withstand the pain brought by the Artic Cold Disease was amazing and truly worthy of respect . Now seeing her with a melancholy look in her eyes , Lin Lingtian thought on how to cheer her up.

Lin Lingtian wrapped her arm around Xiao Ning'er and with a side hug said ," You know where true beauty comes from ?"

" Where ?! "

Lin Lingtian pointed at her chest and said ," ( Dramatic pause ) Your tits ."

Xiao Ning'er was completely caught off guard but Lin Lingtian just chuckled ,"hehehe You should have seen the look on your face . But ... beauty for many can be defined by different qualities . If you find yourself or your heart beautiful then that is all that matters ."

Taking the parchment paper , Lin Lingtian handed it to her . This was the modified cultivation technique he had made based on the concept of an electric flux .

Xiao Ning'er looked up at his chiseled cheeks. He had sharp eyebrows, and deep lights flashed in his pupils. He had a bit of a handsomeness aura around him, which was slowly merging with the image she had in her heart.

( The next Day )

Walking through the halls of Holy Orchid , Lin Lingtian sighed he seriously didn't want to come to this place mostly because he didn't want to deal with Shen Xiu but he wanted to check if Xiao Ning'er was alright .

That girl was strong but many times the looks and whispers of people causes you much pain and he wanted to see if she was ok .

" Hey is that ...."

" Yeah.."

" He is so handsome ."

Lin Lingtian walked through the halls as he would occasionally hear the whispers about him .

Well it boosted some of his pride that girls are calling him handsome and boys are looking him with jealously .

" Hey did you hear the rumors about the Goddess Xiao Ning'er ?"

" What ?"

" They say that she while advancing to the 1 star bronze rank experienced something that made her face disfigured and ugly "

" Hahaha Shen Fei was so disgusted by her disfigured face that he called the Sacred Family and renounced his marriage with her last night . The Winged Dragon Family elders tried to reason with him even offering multiple businesses but Shen Fei was so disgusted by her disfigured face that he actually spat on her proclaiming that even if the heavens fall , he would rather die then marry her . "

" Hahahaha do you think.... "

Lin Lingtian clenched his fists as he wanted to beat those two little shits up but held himself back .

' So looks like Young master Shen Fei didn't like having his toy not broken by him . '

According to the memories of Lin Lingtian , the young master of the Sacred Family always refered to women as objects that he would discard when he broke them one way or the other . With Xiao Ning'er's beauty being destroyed by the Artic Cold Disease that pervert wouldn't try anything towards her as in his eyes she was not a beauty anymore and was not worth keeping .

Disgusted by the thought of the character of Shen Fei .

Lin Lingtian moved swiftly through the crowd of students but a conversation peaked his interest .

" Hey , Do you know that the Alchemist Association is buy quite a lot of Purple Haze Grass in bulk ?"

" Yeah , they are also releasing pills that work wonders and many noble families are paying a lot of money , especially the noble woman . The rumors are ... "

Lin Lingtian was surprised by the conversations of the students . The conversations of the nobles confirmed it that the Alchemist Association had indeed gotten new pills .

Lin Lingtian grumbled about not having the money to get the pills and get some new statuses but the money he had was going to be used to get info about the blood of Wood Yin attribute Demon Beasts .

Walking into class , I see Xiao Ning'er as her hands were covered in bandages along with the burnt side of her face .

Not a single student sat next to her . Many girls were laughing behind their hands at her as many were looking at her in disgust .

The students look at him with gazes of respect , envy and lust .

Walking towards Xiao Ning'er , he pass a table with Nie Li , Lu Piao and Du Zhe .

Nie Li froze as his eyes shifted towards him , ' Lin Lingtian , this power I feel , you must be a part of the Dark Guild if you are so powerful at such a young age . ' Nie Li's gaze harden when looking at the retreating back of Lin Lingtian .

Lin Lingtian sat beside Xiao Ning'er , " So beautiful how was your day ?"

Xiao Ning'er looked at him with a blushing smile , " Well I prepared some pastries , want to eat with me ."

" Sure ."

Taking a bite of the pastry I ask , " So what happened ?"

" I am free ."

" Go on ..."

" That bastard thought that I was not worth his time so he had the marriage contract terminated ."

" And ..."

" I am now free . At least that artic cold disease had some use ."

" hmmm"

" You know that your are a great cook ."

" Thank you ."

" Ning'er you would make a great wife one day ."

Xiao Ning'er blushed at Lin Lingtian's comment .

" Hey , Xiao Ning'er want to marry me ?"

Her eyes widened as she looked at him in surprise as she blushed red . Lin Lingtian smiled mischievously and said with one eye closed ,"~ Oh~ , Nin'er you wouldn't happen to be imagining something dirty right now ."

Xiao Ning'er hid her face out of embarrassment .

" Hehehehe "

A chuckling lin Lingtian rested his head on the table while his gaze went to the back row of the class where three people where sitting and concealing there presence .

One was a gold rank .

The other two were 1 star silver ranks .
