"Tsch," Flock said as he scornfully looked down at Win and proceeded to throw his heavy bag at his head and knocked him out. After that, he couldn't remember much and woke up to the whole room ablaze and the room filled with toxic black smoke. Due to his coughing, he couldn't tell if it was him or the building that was shaking violently. In his coughing fit, he didn't realize the roof cracking and falling down towards him. Rarden Manor

POV Winsor

He was really anxious about how the Earl would react to his request. He expected some money at the very least and maybe a place to stay for a while as the best case scenario. In his past life, he had played many games showing nobles and aristocrats as greedy inhumane people that would get rid of problems so he was worried if they were true.

There were good ones too of course but the evil ones were the kind to sell other NPCs just for some gold or some other expensive in game item.

"Hmm, rather brave. Well yes, I will help you. It is my son that caused this after all." the Earl responded with a gentle smile. "Can you move or are you still in pain"

"No, am feeling a lot better," Winsor answered honestly while gripping and unfolding his hand. He didn't know fully what to expect but since the Earl had already agreed to help so he was at least relieved.

"Great, I have already paid off all the bills for the healing. I'd like if you came to my manor so that we can truly compensate for this terrible accident " the Earl said while slightly tilting his head. Winsor saw it as a dangerous sign since it was unheard of nobles to be polite to commoners.

"Sure, I'd like to visit," Winsor answered with a light smile. That smile did not reach his eyes as he was wondering why he was even invited to a noble's place. He turned towards the doctor who stared back a with a thumbs up and a clearly forced smile. It seemed that agreeing to to visit was the best choice with how the doctor was acting.

"Good, please bring anything you'd like to." the Earl said with a smile before walking out of the door which he entered through. Threen, the doctor, had a sigh of relief as he watched the Earl leave along with the nurse.

"I'll be in the room opposite this one. Once your ready please come and see me but don't take too long" Threen said before also leaving the room.

Now that he was alone, Winsor jumped out of his bed and took a closer look of the room. When his bare feet touched the cold floor, he felt a sudden rush due to standing too fast but it cleared as fast it came.

That aside, he noticed a window and decide to take a look outside. He passed a few beds with bodies that the nurse had covered with cloth earlier. He guessed that these were the bodies of his family that he had lost in the accident. He had some vague phantom memories that belonged to him but then again didn't. They kept on flashing as he looked at the bodies and he felt as his body react with grief at the bodies.

"I hope you rest in peace, I know am not related to you in any way but the person who was ... me before, was," he said while showing respect to the bodies. He pushed the feelings down and reminded himself that he was a different person now.

"I wonder if me transferring here caused his death and the accident," Winsor said with a gloomy look on his face. He sighed and continued to the window that was now only a few beds away.

"Woah," the sight that he saw made him lose his train of thought for a moment. Rarden was located on a single large hill on a vast plain. Many farmers had decided to plant enormous fields of what looked like wheat from this distance. There were large mountains on the horizon with only a coniferous forest separating the fields from the mountains. With the beautiful city with its roofs with clay tiling, the whole scene looked straight out of a dream.

"Well, the screen didn't say it killed them so they must've died somehow," he said while still mesmerized by the view. The evening setting sun tied the whole view together making it more stunning. He continued to look around while taking deep breaths and enjoying the city but he noticed that there was a carriage at the base of the building he was in.

"Sigh, I still haven't seen any magic or anything of the like, wait this could work," Winsor said as he had a sudden idea.

"System, Status, Appraisal?" he said out loud only to be met with absolute silence. He was so happy he was alone right now since his tan skin was red in embarrassment.

"Well, I best be going," He said as he hurriedly left the room hoping no one had seen his terrible and very cringe attempt of trying to see his attributes or talents.

He quickly walked out of the room and met the doctor who was also just getting out of the room across his.

"Oh hey, I was about to come and call you since you were taking a bit long. We only have this ring, three silver coins and some books from your house. We managed to get your name off of the random writings in your room and some papers with a small pictures of you," Threen said while handing him a small bag with his only belongings.

Winsor checked the bag as they were going down the stairs to the carriage outside. He found a jade ring along side some coins with a diamond insignia on them and two books. He took out the ring and put it on and was suprised by the weight it carried.

"Good day to you sir," a man who looked to be in his late 50s said to them while walking towards them. He was wearing a black suit and white gloves with a small black bow tie.

"Hello," Winsor said politely as he followed the man outside to the carriage. Once they got outside, he was again left speechless by how everything was so vibrant and colourful. Many people were walking on the sides of the streets and children were running about. Back where he used to live on earth, his neighbourhood was one of those that you would never let your kids get out, not even during the day.

"The Earl has been waiting, thank you for being quick," The man said as he signaled for him to sit beside the coach man. It was understandable since no one would expect a noble to let a commoner into their carriage, especially one with no achievements or wealth.

"Thanks," Winsor said as he got up on the seat and the carriage began moving. He was wondering what he was even going to do now that he had a new life in a magical world. He could live as a farmer or go on an adventure but it all cost money which he didn't have much of at the moment.

The ride wasn't a long one since the carriage was quite fast as it was drawn by two large horses. Winsor tried starting a conversation with the coach man but it was rather dry. He tried asking for basic things like how the weather is, and how much things like a night in an inn should cost. The man answered all questions but sounded angry that he was being bothered as he did his job. Winsor for some reason couldn't see this and continued to ask questions till they reached luxurious looking gate at the top of he hill where the city was located.

There were armored guards who were holding halberds at the gate. At the sight of the carriage, they bowed and opened the gate to the Rarden manor.

As they passed the gate, Winsor stopped asking questions and started looking around the large garden that sat in front of the large manor. There were many neatly cut hedges and flowers that gave him a calm feeling. Judging by the relaxed feeling by being in greener places plus his long and slightly pointed ears, he found out he was an elf or at least a half elf of some kind.

The coach man stopped the horses in front of the manor and Earl Grant and the butler came out from the carriage. Servants opened the front door and welcomed their lord while bowing. Winsor jumped off the carriage with his bare feet and walked behind the Earl and his butler towards the entrance.

That was until he entered the main door and the first thing he noticed was the smell of iron. He usually would ignore it but recently with him being in a new body, all his senses were heightened and he could easily recognise that something or someone had been killed in the manor recently!

I'm going to pace things up from here, tell me if its either too fast or too slow, I read your comments so please feel free to leave more. thank you for reading and if you like it please add to your library : )
