19 Date #2

Kitty woke up the next morning with a hazy head. She saw the glass of water and aspirin and took both. Her mouth was so dry the water felt like heaven. It wasn't until after she drank the water that she realized she wasn't in her room and when she saw Peter's naked torso across the room she remembered last night.

''Oh shit.'' She gasped.

Peter woke up to her words and sat up in bed. He was only wearing pajama bottoms, so his toned upper body was exposed and Kitty didn't miss her chance to see it. ''Good morning Kitty.''

''G..g..good morning Peter. Why am I in your bed?''

''Well you were drunk last night and wouldn't let me take you to your room.''

''No, I remember that. I mean why aren't you in your bed? No I mean why am I not in that bed.'' Kitty sighed, her face was red. ''Why didn't you sleep in your own bed and put me in the spare one?''

Peter shrugged his shoulders. ''That bed is more comfortable. How do you feel?''

Kitty moaned. ''My head hurts and my mouth is so dry.''

''Kitty what are your plans today?''

''Dying probably. Besides that I'm free.''

Peter thought for a moment. ''Want to spend the day with me?''

Kitty glanced at Peter, she tried and failed to only look at his face. ''Peter I think I'm just going to lay down all day.''

''That'll be a waste and I know what'll make you feel better. Go shower, change your clothes, and come back here when your ready.''

''Okay.'' Kitty obediently did what Peter told her to. While Peter was waiting on Kitty he pocketed the money Aunt May gave him and changed his own clothes. His plans weren't expensive but he barely had any money so everything was expensive to him.

After about an hour kitty returned with a wet ponytail, a forest green loose long sleeve, and black sweatpants. ''Okay I'm ready.''

''How do you feel?''

''Not good, but better.''

''Apparently good enough to put makeup on.''

''...actually I don't have make up on.''

''Wow. Well Kitty, maybe you should think about being a model. Okay so first I need you to swear to me that everything besides us hanging out will be kept a secret.''

Kitty rolled her eyes. ''Okay Peter I swear.''

''Kitty I'm serious, promise me you'll keep my secrets.''

''Okay I promise.'' Kitty was slightly annoyed, mostly from being hung over but also because she didn't feel like playing Peter's immature game. Peter opened a portal to his room at his Aunt's house. Kitty's eyes went wide. ''Is this part of your mutation?''

''No. Its magic, come on.'' Peter pulled Kitty through the portal and into his Aunt's apartment.

''Magic? You know magic? Wait, magic is real?''

''Yeah. Okay come on.''

Peter led Kitty to his favorite pizza place, which happened to be just a few blocks over. The entire time Peter answered all of Kitty's unending questions about magic. ''Could you teach me?''

Peter stopped just outside the Pizza shop. ''I've never thought about it. I'm not sure, maybe. Hungry?''

Kitty looked around totally oblivious to where they were. ''I'm starving actually.''

''Thought so.'' Peter held the door open for Kitty and walked up to the counter. ''Too early for a couple slices of pie?'' He asked the receptionist.

''Not here it ain't.'' The gruff looking, but friendly, man behind the counter replied.

''Great, let me get two ginger ales and one slice of your meat lovers with jalapeños. Kitty what kind of pizza do you like?''

''Veggie, please.''

Peter and the man gave each other a look. ''Two veggie slices as well.'' Peter put the money on the table and thought about how badly he needed to do something to make more.

''Gotcha. I'll bring it put when it's ready.''

''Thanks buddy.'' Peter took their drinks and escorted Kitty to a booth. ''Ginger ale will help with the parched mouth. Drink as much as you want.''

Kitty gulped down her drink before Peter took two sips from his. He slid her his drink as well. ''Aren't you thirsty?''

''Not as much as you. I'll get a refill.'' Peter watched Kitty drink almost half of his glass. ''Was that your first time drinking? I'm surprised Professor X allows alcohol.''

''Well he doesn't. It was snuck in. We try to hold parties often, it gets boring there as I'm sure you could tell. Yeah it was my first time drinking.''

''Why were you drinking? It sounded like you showed up by yourself.'' Kitty looked down at her cup and stirred the ice with her finger. Peter reached over and gently lifted her face. ''Tell me, please.''

Kitty blushed. ''Well I was looking for someone, and I drank because I was told it would help give me courage.''

''Mmhhmm. So when I found you, you must have felt very courageous.''

''Shut up.'' Kitty turned her head. Peter couldn't help but laugh and eventually Kitty laughed with him. ''Yeah it was a dumb idea huh?''

''Well…yeah. If you need courage to do something your mind should be clear. Kitty did you happen to be waiting for me?''

''Yeah.''

''I'm sorry, I didn't know anything about the party.''

''No one told you?''

''Kitty, the only people I talk to daily are you and Logan. I spoke with Dr. McCoy once and Professor Xavier twice at the mansion.''

''Why don't you talk to others?''

''Well I'm busy I train…''

''Wait you talk to Logan daily?'' Kitty interrupted, surprised.

''Yeaaah. He's my combat instructor, we train every morning after you and I do our acrobatic training.''

''Wow, what did you do to get him to do that? He never wants to train anyone.''

''We fought in the garage. I knocked him out with a wrestling move.''

''What!'' Kitty nearly shouted. Peter motioned for her to be quiet. ''You knocked Logan out?'' She asked quieter and with awe.

The pizza slices arrived. ''Yeah. Since then we have trained every morning.'' Peter said when the waiter left.

Kitty took a bite of her pizza. ''This is good. When was that?''

''Um the first day I arrived.''

''Wow, so you fought a dangerous staff member on your first day and instead of getting expelled are now being trained by said staff member in combat? Is that luck or something better?''

''I wonder the same thing sometimes. You should eat, you'll feel much better.''

Kitty looked at her two massive pieces of pizza. ''You know won't be able to finish both of these.''

''I bet you can. If I win you have to answer any question I have.''

''Deal, and if I win you have to answer any question I have.''

Kitty and Peter ate with light conversation here and there. When kitty finished her first pizza she said she was full but glanced at the second slice constantly. ''Just eat it Kitty.'' Peter said.

''Ugh but…okay fine.'' Kitty pouted as she enjoyed the greasy pizza. Peter smirked as he watched her. ''Oh shut up.'' She said covering her mouth so he couldn't see the food in her mouth.

After Kitty finished the second slice they left the pizzeria and walked around. ''Oh I ate too much.'' Kitty groaned holding her stomach.

''How do you feel, hangover wise?''

''Well my mind feels slow but I feel much better besides, so what's your question?''

''Okay well…I can't read you. Sometimes I think you like me and other times it seems you push me away. Sometimes your bubbly and other times you seem seriously sad.''

''What's your question Peter?'' Kitty asked uncomfortable that he caught on to her mood swings.

''What can I do to keep you from being sad and keep you happy?''

Kitty stopped walking. ''That's your question?''

''Yeah.'' Peter said, turning to face her.

''Why do you care if I'm sad?''

''Who wants their friend to be sad, right?''

Kitty smiled at the simple answer. ''Right.'' She began walking again. She reached out for Peter's hand but hesitated before finding the courage to grab his hand. Peter held Kitty's hand firmly as they walked off the pizza.

Across the street a young woman with long wavy platinum blond hair was distracted by Peter and Kitty holding hands. The young woman missed the man exiting the shop she had been casing for the past few hours. She gripped her hands into tight fists and left in the opposite direction Peter and Kitty were walking.
