Chapter 3

"Mr. Austin, it would seem my class is boring since you seem it necessary to have a nap during my lesson". Mr.O'grady Austin's Biology lecturer called him out,. "To detention mr. Austin". He said with a tone of finality, Austin stood up, apologised and dragged himself to the detention room, he hadn't been there before, when he walked in there were quite a few students in there, he glanced around the room, the walls were painted yellow with fluorescent lights gracing the ceiling, the room wasn't that big, he submitted his phone to the teacher in duty who replied with a sarcastic smile "seems like we have a new delinquent to join you bunch of disgrace" Austin paid him no attention, he merely went to a seat at the left corner of the room and ignored every other person there, he was still puzzled over what happened last night, he was pre occupied with his thoughts when he felt someone tap him on his shoulder he raised his head to see a girl whom he couldn't describe as average, she was quite endowed and she had luscious red hair, "Hi, my name's Emily, what are you in here for?" Austin who wasn't in a mood to chat decided to talk to her in order not to appear rude "I'm Austin and I'm here for sleeping during lessons". Emily stared at him before replying "Seems it's your first time here, your not as obnoxious as the other guys here, let's be friends" Austin was about to turn her down when he decided not to after all having a friend wouldn't be that bad plus she seemed nice, he raised his hand for a handshake and said "nice to meet you" she returned the gesture and began telling him about her life, Austin noticed she was a talkative as she talked about a lot of things from her background to his likes and interests, " well as you know I'm Emily, I'm 18, I've lived In so many countries i can't count, my parents are well to do so it isn't a problem, I had an ..... issue in my previous school so I came here, I have two little siblings and I'm in the science department, I had a pet monkey which I got from Dubai but he died some time ago, what about you? What do you like, do , I just want to know all about you". "Well I'm Austin, I'm 19, theres really not much to know about me, I've lived here all my life, I'm also in the science department, I love taking midnight strolls while listening to music, I'm into anime, gaming and fiction, I've never had a pet and I'm hungry ", Emily looked at him with a smile after his last remark and said "you and me are going to be just fine".

Emily and Austin kept on talking till the end of detention, after which they left for their classes, though they were both in the science department, their courses where at different periods on some days. They later met up after school and while going home,they discovered they lived quite close, Emily was supposed to be picked up but decided to walk with Austin instead, while going home, Austin was bumped into by someone he felt was familiar as he tried to recall whom it was, Emily yelled "hey , watch it will you?". The familiar person replied "I'm sorry, you should be careful", before Austin could ask about him, he left while Emily said "Nevermind him, there's always a weirdo in the neighbourhood". While they parted ways, they exchanged their contact details and Austin went his way, he kept on feeling like he was being watched but each time he turned around he saw no one, he shrugged it off and went home, as soon as he got home he was confronted by his father "And the good for nothing finally returns home, where have you been?" Austin who was in no mood for his father replies him with a greeting instead "Good evening dad, I was in school as you can see, how's mom?" Mr. Williams Austin's father looked at him with anger he hated Austin and his mother because he felt they ruined his life, forcing him with the responsibility of being a father and a husband, "Just get out of my sight before i do something we will both regret" Austin was more than happy to oblige, he didn't see his mom which meant she was probably at work, Austin did his laundry, took care of his assignment's and had his dinner, it was 9pm when he heard his phone ring, it was a message, he picked up his phone and saw a text from Emily

Emily: Hey austin, how are you? Sorry I couldn't contact you earlier, I've been busy, siblings and all that, what's about you?

Austin: I'm ok, no problem, what are you doing now? I'm bored as hell.

Emily: Nothing just laying in bed, will you be going for a midnights stroll?

Austin: It depends....

Emily: on what?

Austin: if my parents start another argument.

Emily: oh!, what's going on between them?

Austin: it's a long story but to sum it up my dad and mom loved each other.... that is until she told him she was pregnant so he dumped her but my mom's family forced him to marry her and he's hated us ever since.

Emily: oh, I'm sorry, that's a lot to live with, you can always share your burdens with me, I'm here for you.

Austin: Thanks Emily, gotta go my moms back, need to know if there anything I'll help her with.

Emily:Alright bye.
